Was made to feel the services were so important, that the house could've burned down. $2800 later, the problem was not fixed. It turned out to be a ComEd issue that for $100 was found by an actual reliable electrician. Absolutely horrible ethics, and by the looks of the previous reviews, standard practice. Shame on Mr. Electric.

Do not bother calling Mr. Electric. They were supposedly heading to my commercial rental property when I called last week, and then never bothered to get back to me. So, I called yesterday to see what the status was. Someone left a message today. When I called back, he said he thinks a technician had gone out last week, but he had no idea what the technician had found and would have to check with him and get back to me. Maybe he would have to send him out again tomorrow. I told him to forget it.

I couldn't choose zero stars so I guess 1 has to do. Called mr electric 1 yr ago in a pinch because my 90 yr old dad had no air conditioning. Mr electric salesman promised the moon. Electrician came out and got the air going (used my husbands wire even). One yr later the electrical started sparking, could have burned the house down. Another electrician looked at it and looked at the invoice from mr electric. Turns out the guy only rewired a portion of what he was supposed to and did not install the rigid conduit that he charged us for. Have been calling for 6 days now. The owner Jim was supposed to be here at 10AM today. It's now 7:30PM. No show, no call. Called customer service twice already. They keep promising a call back. These people are absolute swindlers. $1794.00 for nothing.

I am not very happy with Mr.Electric. I hired them because part of my basement was loosing power. The technician said it will be $450 and it will be few hours for him to figure it out whats going on. I agreed to pay $450. He started troubleshooting and the problem was found under 5 mins. It was a simple black wire coming out to the wall outlet which was loose causing the issue. I asked him right away if I still be charged $450 for something simple and it was found very quick. He said yes, I will be charged $450. The technician felt so bad that the company is charging me so much, he redid the wiring that coming into the wall outlets for 4 wall outlets. This wasn't necessary to fix the problem. He just did it so I feel I am getting something for the $450 I am paying. I paid the full amount just because I agreed to pay. The technician was out the door in less than 40 (20 mins of actual work) minutes. I don't think I ever paid this much for any job. We all work hard for our money but $450 is way too much. I would never hire or recommend Mr. Electric again.

I had called the Mr. Electric contractor I had used before, but apparently his location closed and the call rolled over to Naperville Mr. Electric. Bottom line, the technician who arrived did manage to get the breaker to stay on for the overhead lights in the kitchen, and to get the gas fireplace lighting again with the electrical switch rather than just lighting manually. So that was good. But the technician had to call his boss for pricing, and I didn't end up having them do any further diagnostic work because I felt that my old electrician would have charged less.

I wasn't comfortable with the way this operation works. When the call initially rolled over to Naperville it felt more like I was calling in to a call center for Comcast than an electrician. They offered a window between 10--12, then asked me to take a window of 8--12. They promised a confirmation email, which I never received. Jeff did call to let me know Tony would be arriving around 10:00, and Tony actually arrived around 9:30. They scheduled promptly, but since they only referred to the person they sent out as a ""technician"" I don't actually know if he was a licensed electrician. Maybe he was, but he wasn't authorized to quote pricing, and he didn't even have any kind of service order with him. The manager Jeff texted me a photograph of a service order, because I wasn't willing to pay without some kind of documentation. When I said I would prefer it by email, because the image was small and wouldn't correct from the sideways view, he said I could email it to myself and then it would be emailed. The work order he texted me said only ""service call"" and the price. I am accustomed to all other contractors detailing what work was done and what was advised for future reference. This didn't even list the technician's name (Tony).

I ended up paying $150 for the visit alone, and since the lights and fireplace are at least temporarily working, that seemed fair enough for now. But I would never use this company again based on the way they do business.

After calling 3 different places I finally decided to give these guys a call and it was the best decision. I had called early afternoon and josh and Jeff had arrived within an hour ... Not expecting such a quick response ! They were very kind and didn't seem to take advantage like some do. We had buzzing behind our fridge outlet and they fixed it right up. So glad we made the call ! They loved our dog too, and we love people like that!

I would never use these people ever again. They were terrible. They gave me one price at the beginning and ended up to be almost twice as much. What ever you do, stay away from this company. What a rip off.

I wouldn't even give them one star!

I wish there was 0 stars. Even 1 is to many for them. Called and made an appointment on Monday Aug. 31st. Appointment confirmed for Wednesday Sept. 2nd. Got a call near the appointed time and told a problem had come up on a job, and they would appreciate it if we could reschedule/ I understand things happen, then they told me the next appointment would be Sept. 8th, the following week. I said not acceptable. So we worked out a time for Thursday the 3rd of Sept, between 12:00 noon, and 2 P.M. The tech showed up at almost 2:50 P.M. With the impression that he was doing us a favor by showing up. As far as the shoe coverings, and cleanliness, Non-exsistant. We have eggshell colored carpets, he walked up our stairs twice without coverings. When my wife questioned him he said Oh, Yeah, I'll get them next time I go upstairs. t this point I was informed that there would be a $200.00 diagnostic charge, and it was separate from any work, meaning parts, and labor. WHOAAAAA!!!!!!!! I called the office before he had chance to look at anything and was told, ""The technicians make their own pricing? REALLY? Not in this house he doesn't. I told the tech he was not needed anymore and it was like he was Glad we told him to leave. At that time I called the company back, and asked to speak to Jim Knapp, supossidly the owner, was informed he's not in BUT, will return your call. That was about 3:15 P.M. We had a dinner function to be at at 6:30 P.M and we had to leave. It is now 1:10 A.M. and no call, (left my cell phone number, and house number, and no message left on house phone. I was informed that it could be a wall switch, AND / OR a breaker in the main box. I said that could be 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 hundred dollars. The tech answered with YEP, could be.Later today I'm calling Home Advisory and telling them about Mr. Electric. I will also try Jim Knapp again, but for some reason I have a feeling I'll never hear from him again. PLEASE! PLESE! PLEASE!!!! If ever given the oppurtunity to call this company Read the phone number and throw it out. Don't even think of dialing that number. THE WORST!!!!!

Mr. Electric of Naperville called me after HomeAdvisor contacted him. He called within an hour of my request, so I was impressed. We set up an appointment for Wednesday to scope the panel replacement out. He left and said he would be in touch with his bit. A week had gone by and not a call or an email came through. I have called Mr. Electric of Naperville two more times and asked the secretary to have him call me with a bid or if there was some reason he had not gotten in touch with me. Still, no call back or email. A very frustrating experience.

A local power outage caused our main breaker to give out, so we needed an electrician and we needed one fast. Like an idiot, I called the first one I could find online: Mr. Electric. I knew I was in trouble when the sales guy showed up in a shiny Hummer. Suffice it to say, what should have been a $200 replacement of the main breaker turned into a $2,000 replacement of our entire panel.

The tech who showed up had almost none of the essential tools he needed. He had no flashlight. I repeat: AN ELECTRICIAN WHO DOESN'T BRING A FLASHLIGHT WITH HIM. The sales guy and I were standing behind the tech with our iPhones lighting the box so he could work at first. Then I had to LEND HIM A SCREWDRIVER so he could remove the breaker. Once the sales guy left, the tech BORROWED SCENTED CANDLES FROM OUR BATHROOM to light his work area. My wife was so freaked out that he was going to burn down our house that she ran out and bought an LED work light. On top of this, the sales guy -- who was a big, physically intimidating man (I can't imagine being, say, a housewife stuck alone with the guy) -- was very evasive about their warranty and was constantly on the phone ignoring us while he was here.

Basically, we paid a premium price to be bullied and have work done by someone who seemed incompetent. I'm planning to have another electrician come out and double-check the guy's work. I will never, never, ever use Mr. Electric again for anything. STAY AWAY FROM THEM!
