Too bad I can't leave ZERO stars as I almost got taken to the cleaners by the company that bought La Canada Air Conditioning.

But let's start at the beginning.
I have a five year maintenance service agreement with La Canada Air. I couldn't remember them coming this summer to check and I dug up the service receipts and it was last serviced October 2021. (my bad for not having it in my appointment calender) but Shirley had always called me when a check-up was due.
So I called and found out that both Shirley and Joe had retired.

Monkey Wrench Plumbing, Heating & Air bought the business and they came out. After the service guy asked me if I had a new filter, I was a little taken back and said no as it was included in my contract that they should supply one. (I had to send them a copy of my contract). Then he tells me about all the parts that need to be replaced as they are not within manufacturing range to the cost of $2,100. Or I could replace the heating unit for $9,750. The unit is only 7 yr old. I said thanks and I'll call them.

I called a reputable company to have them check if it was really as bad as Monkey Wrench said.

Talk about trying to rip me off and take advantage of a retiree.

The serv ice of Monkey Wrench was excellent. We had no hot water coming out of our tankless water heater and their technician, Luis, came out the same day, took the time to diagnose the problem. There was no rush, no hard sell, and his explanation was clear. He put on the track to get the repairs we needed. Luis was efficient, kind and professional.

Terrible. Overpriced and shoddy work. We had a gas leak so pretty eager to get work done quickly. The Monkeywrench salesperson poorly predicted the timeline (or misled us on timeline to get the job), leaving us without hot water for days longer than promised. They installed a water heater shoddily and not to code (loose gas line, no trap, questionable strapping). When there was a another problem, they gave us an estimate that was 40% higher than the 5-star Yelp rated plumbers we eventually hired to do the job. Though Monkeywrench gave us a discount on the original job due to the late timeline, we're pretty sure we overpaid for that too.

Update: They called me to talk it through. I asked them to stop saying that my review was ""pending resolution."" I didn't ask for any money or services from them and there is no ""resolution"" pending. They earned this review.

I love Monkey Wrench Plumbing. Sure plumbing is never cheap BUT the crew is so good at what they do and their followup is awesome. Rick installed my tank-less water heater and water softener system and I adore him.
I just met Fred, who did my HVAC maintenance and he was so professional, kind and explained everything very clearly. I plan to have Fred be my point-person on my HVAC system now. I totally recommend both Rick and Fred!

Luis did an amazing job fixing a leak and really came through for me. I had contacted 4 plumbers before and 2 never followed through on showing up. He was efficient, kept the area clean and was up front and direct on costs and work needed. I would use them again.

Noe of Monkey Wrench was very professional, and was careful to keep me fully informed to all that was being done while installing my new air conditioner. he was early and consistently, polite and friendly. He was careful to make sure everything was cleaned up and done correctly.

David from Monkey Wrench is always great to work with. We've been customers of this company for 20 years now, since way before it was acquired by the current owners. They're always super polite & friendly when I call & have consistently done great work. I was worried the quality would go down once it was sold but it's as good as ever. They're very communicative. The only thing is that they're very busy so make your appointments ahead of time if you prepay for twice yearly service.

Enrique went above and beyond to help with my tankless water heater issues. I had a surprise wasps nest inside of my unit and he took it upon himself to remove it for me in addition to repairing my unit. He easily could have told me to hire an exterminator and left but he was committed to doing what it took to get the job done. This man deserves a bonus!

Writing because this company is not worth the money. I tried to get helped however the person who was suppose to quote me never got back to me. I called and spoke with a manger ""Cindy"" however she should be fired with her attitude , the lack of caring for the sale of the company . DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY AT ALL!! Terrible service from terrible people !!!
