AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! Worst ""electrician"" ever. I was assigned this electrician (Matt) from First American Warranty and he gave a bogus report of my issue which caused a denial to my claim. Lost my money to his scam of getting service request from the warranty companies and giving false reports to get us denied like other reviewers.
I don't think he is licensed or he needs to go back to school and get tested again. He does not even know the NEC 312.8 code regarding splices in the panel which states they are allowed since it was reworded back in 2011. When diagnosing my outlet issues, he barely checked one outlet with his meter and then went straight to the panel. Once he had one look at my panel, saw the splices/pigtails, he took a picture and said he will call First American Warranty. I asked why and he said no splices in the panel are allowed which contradicts what the code stated that I recently found online and what other electricians I spoke to recently. He told me that my whole panel needed to be replaced to fix my outlet issues.
I waited for an update with First American and almost 4 weeks later I get a call from Matt again to schedule a time for him to stop by and look at my outlets. I had to remind him he already came by and that First American is waiting for a report. He then ""remembers"" and states he will call them ""again"". He then gives First American a bogus report of why my outlets are not working. He reported that my circuit is overloading which is causing my outlet issues, but my outlet that is having an issue is a dedicated circuit with no splices on its own breaker. He never checked my outlets or breakers, only looked at my panel, saw the splices (which were allowed from what other electricians say and made assumptions in the report). Do not use this electrician if you are assigned to him.
The dedicated 30 amp circuit that I am having issues with is a 220 volt 30 amp dryer outlet and one of the hots had no voltage. He would know that if he wasn't such a scammer. If every breaker was turned off and only the 30 amp breaker with no load on it was left on, the outlet would only still have one hot instead of two. It had nothing to do with the splices or the panel or what he reported as an overloaded circuit.
And like everyone else, he doesn't return calls or text but will call you if First American assigns a service order so he can scam you. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!

312.8 Switch and Overcurrent Device Enclosures
The wiring space of enclosures for switches or overcurrent
devices shall be permitted for conductors feeding through, spliced, or tapping off to other enclosures, switches, or overcurrent devices where all of the following conditions are met:
(1) The total of all conductors installed at any cross section of the wiring space does not exceed 40 percent of the cross-sectional area of that space.
(2) The total area of all conductors, splices, and taps installed at any cross section of the wiring space does not exceed 75 percent of the cross-sectional area of that space.
(3) A warning label complying with 110.21(B) is applied to the enclosure that identifies the closest disconnecting means for any feed-through conductors.

Quote from a real expert:
""This is the applicable code section. It used to say no splices were allowed unless there is enough room. This led many, many folks to simply state ""NO splices allowed"". They were wrong. You'd be amazed at what it would physically take to reach that 75% number of fill.
So basically yes, splices are FINE in a breaker panel.""

This guy was flying down Margaurite in Mission Viejo, cut me off and slammed on their breaks with no cars in front and a whole mile with green lights ahead. Their business must be awful if they're looking to commit insurance fraud on the road.

I have to say that I am truly surprised by the reviews written here. I, too, had a First American claim that began as an AC claim and then required electrical to repair an electrical breaker issue. The first company sent to me by FAHW said falsely that there was a problem with the underground wiring (it doesn't even go underground) and that it was denied. I knew that it was only a breaker issue and asked for a second opinion, basically refusing to work with the first company. I also had reservations because of the reviews when MK was assigned. Matt came out to my home in HB, on time and had the new breaker installed with 15 minutes. What was becoming a bad experience was completely turned around by Matt's professionalism and personality.

AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!
If you can get them to ever call you back and actually show up to the appointment he does ""okay"" work. We had him come out for a FAHW claim and ended up paying him to do some other work for us since he was already at our house. The price was extremely high but we paid it just to get it done. The outlets all worked fine for a while but now they are ALL not working and he won't return ANY of my voicemails. I even offered to pay him more money just to come out but I haven't heard from him. STAY AWAY from this business. If it wasn't for home warranty I wouldn't have used them but again he was already at our house and we just needed the work done at the time. I wish I would have used someone better because now none of the outlets he installed are working.

I don't know if i had a run in with the owner or an employee... But driving down the street the other day, this asshole would not let me out of the merging lane, so i sped up to get in front of him and avoid a car crash and he proceeded to speed up and then flip me off. license plate# is MKES... If you see this tool on the road, stear clear so he doesn't run you off of it. #douche

If you are reading this review, then you are likely considering this company to do work at your house. Well I cannot comment on his work, because he set an appointment between 9am and 11am and then never showed up. He did not call, nor did he answer my text message. I tried calling 3 times and he clearly can not operate his phone because all I heard was very loud road noise and this clown yelling hello over and over. If a person can not operate a cell, you may want to reconsider letting him work on your house. He was referred by First American Home Warranty and when I called them to tell them he never showed and wasted 1/2 of my day, they apologized and acknowledged that they have had many complaints about him. They are reviewing their relationship with him and with any luck will stop referring him!

This man is RUDE and has NO IDEA what customer service is. I was assigned to him through First American Home Warranty and had such a miserable experience with him BEFORE he even came out I called the warranty people back and asked for a different electrician.

Company owner might be rich and or just lazy and doesn't want to work. I called and left VM on Sunday morning stating what electrical repairs were needed and sent an email as well. Didn't receive a response so called again Monday morning and actually talked to ""the"" or ""a"" electrician. He was driving and said he would call me back in the afternoon and schedule an appointment with me for this week. He never called so I called him again Monday evening as well as sent another email requesting the courtesy of a response. NOTHING!! So, I called again Tuesday morning and again requested the courtesy of a response as well as called again this evening leaving the same message and he still has not responded. He obviously doesn't want and/or need business
nor that he has cost this potential client three days while I stupidly waited for some form of positive or negative communication. If has died that's very unfortunate but if he hasn't - his business will for sure!!!!!!!

Another First American Home Warranty customer here that was screwed by Matt who claims to have knowledge but is actually a complete idiot. He is the most incompetent electrician I have ever met and a complete rude A$$. He did not want to look at the problem and instead wanted to make up excuses as to what he thought the problem was and immediately began to tell us we needed to add dedicated circuit breakers for every major appliance in our home. He even stated that he could add another sub-panel and offered to give a quote. Despite living in this home for over 40 years and having an old tub style television plugged into an outlet with no problems, Matt stated our new LED television needs its own circuit. This idiot is more interested in trying to sell you on things you don't need than fix the problem. I guess it's just easier to drive around all day collecting $75 co-pays from FAHW customers and then probably billing the company for more $$$$. TOTAL SCAM!!!!

I would avoid these guys at all cost! I have a home warranty policy through first American. My whole house fan broke so first am sent this joke of a contractor out to attempt to fix it. We had a 3 speed motor that ran the fan, he replaced it with a single speed motor. When turned on the motor isn't strong enough to open the vents to the fan which makes it totally useless. Unfortunately my wife was home so he took full advantage of her and said it was fixed. Not knowing it wasn't fixed my wife paid him. When I got home I tried the fan and realized that it was still broken. I opened another claim through first am and the contractor never called back. I left 3 voice mails and no still no call backs. I opened a case through first am to have them removed off their approved list. Avoid these guys at all cost!!!!
