Debbie M.Had an appointment for 4pm. Said they would call 30 minutes before arrival. Never showed up. Called the office and was told they came by at 3pm and no one was home (which was not true). They said they could come the following day as an emergency call out at $180 flat fee plus the cost for repair. I'm glad they never showed up if this is how they rip off their customers.
Lashawn F.Pros- Danielle was extremely friendly and did everything possible to understand the electrical problem and make the necessary fixes, and he expressed willingness to come back if the problem persists.
Cons- the administration was very deceiving in regards to the overhead ""fees."" When I called to set up the appointment, I asked if there would be any set fees, such as travel or diagnostic fees. I was only told about the $59 travel fee, and this would be the only fee other than the cost to make the repair. Unfortunately, this is not the case. At the time of my appointment, the electrician told me there was a $333 SET diagnostic fee. When I asked about this fee and why it wasn't disclosed to me, I was told that the administration is not allowed to tell clients about this fee, and that many clients would not make their appointments if they knew about the fee prior. In other words, they intentionally did not tell me about the fee so I would keep my appointment. I needed very minor repairs that took less than an hour, so if I would have known about the diagnostic fee of $300+ than I would not have waited a week for the appointment with this company, but I felt obligated as I did not want to wait any longer for another electrician. It was very DECEIVING for this company to lie and tell me that there were no other set fees other than the travel fee. I do not like when companies try to take advantage or deceive their customers; therefore, I do not recommend their services.
My initial contact with Mr. Sparky was a detailed message I left on their web site outlining what I needed done. Within two hours of posting the message 'Chris' from their call center called. Chris brought up my message, reviewed the input and then scheduled a day and time for an electrician to come to my home. Chris was not only professional but very friendly as well.
As promised by Chris, Mr. Tom Robuck called 30-minutes prior to his arrival stating he was on his way. Because our project had several facets to it the purpose of Mr. Robuck's initial visit was to review all parts of the project and then give us an estimate to accomplish the work. Mr. Robuck was extremely thorough, asked appropriate questions to ensure we were both thinking the same thing, walked all areas of the project to ensure his complete understanding of what we wanted done. Then he provided a detailed estimate for getting the project done, which we accepted.
Mr. Robuck showed up the following day with all of the parts and first did the four of the six small projects, this allowed us time to get the temperature in our house down to the high 60's because the major project was to take out the current electrical panel and install a new one which included two Solar Panel Systems and an external generator for emergency use. The work on the four smaller projects was outstanding and even exceeded what we wanted. Mr. Robuck's work on the electrical panel was amazing. Despite the heat Mr. Robuck did not miss a beat, his work ethic and physical results of his work is outstanding, a consummate professional. Yes, there were surprises when he got deep into the wiring and discovered areas where short cuts had been taken by others who had worked on the panel previously and as expected Mr. Robuck corrected the problems and ensured the wiring was within the code's requirements. Because of the size of the project with the electrical panel, as promised he had the panel installed and the wiring connected but to finish, he needed to come back the next day; but we had all our power restored.
Upon his return Mr. Robuck ensured the best possible grounding of the system was done, he identified every aspect of what the panel supports and labeled the panel accordingly and then completed the remaining two smaller projects.
Again, there is no time wasted when Mr. Robuck is working. Mr. Robuck also made sure for any issues he came across that I was made aware of the issue and the fix action that he was going to take. The work area upon completion of his work was cleaner than it was before Mr. Robuck started the work.
Mr. Sparky also offers an annual service agreement which is very reasonably priced and ensures that all electrical outlets, switches, and surge protections installed are checked and functional.
Bottom line, you cannot go wrong with Mr. Sparky of Sarasota, FL and if you are fortunate enough to get Mr. Tom Robuck as your assigned technician you are in the hands of a complete and total Professional coupled with his friendly and client centered approach in dealing with his customers.
Made an appointment they never showed and never called to back out of the appointment. I waited all day finally called them and they lied to me . I wrote a review because I was so annoyed at Their actions that they lied again on their response . It's a disgusting company
We were misled that we would be receiving a free estimate. There is no free estimate. There is a high charge just for them to show up ,luckily we were told that before they entered. Honest and fair is what We expected. Had we been told at the time we made the appointment of a base charge we would not have felt misled. Not a good impression and we sent them on their way...
Melissa S.We recently had a main breaker outside of our house and a breaker box inside our house replaced. For weeks now our power was going out randomly, and the electricians figured out that it was a burned wire in our main breaker box outside. Our electrician Sean McAdams was amazing! He came on Tuesday however FPL could not get to us to turn off the power. So he returned on Wednesday with his assistant David. The work was done right on time. They were both incredibly professional, straight to the point on what needed to be fixed and why, and took care not to make a mess (the breaker box was in my daughter's room). Courteous, prompt, and very knowledgeable. They even went the extra mile to ensure that my power was turned back on by FPL after the power company dragged their feet, taking over six hours (well after 11 pm). By no fault of Mr. Sparky we were without power for nearly twelve hours. And Sean made sure that he got it running before he left. I would highly recommend Mr. Sparky, and Sean McAdams and his assistant David specifically. If I ever have power related issues, I know exactly who to call. They went above and beyond to get my lights back on.
My experience started great with a tech that was very friendly and seemed to be genuine.. Thought that was a good sign. After glancing at my electrical panel, told my husband ""this isn't good."" Ended up telling us that my bus bar was charred, that whatever the issue is can ""travel down the bus bar and affect other breakers as well at any point"" and told me if it were to hit the breaker that is linked to my AC that my AC would be toast (does that even make sense??). I financed the $4k they wanted to ""replace my entire panel"" and they were going to be back the very next morning by 8 to start the work. He encouraged us to not be home ""because there will be no AC and that's not fun"" or something to that affect. This type of work would require pulling a permit, HOW would you get a permit when it's now 8pm and it's needed by 8 the next morning? I called my uncle that morning and ended up canceling Mr.Sparky, THANK GOD. With two hours of my uncles expertise, we found the problem to be a SIGNLE LIGHT BULB!! A $10 light bulb that was shorting out the breaker and making it pop almost costed my $4k. Spent $15 on new light bulbs, problem COMPLETELY FIXED. Absolutely NOTHING wrong with my panel, yet they wanted $4k because it HAD to be replaced. The tech told us ""We do 2-3 a week."" This is exactly how the company stays afloat, they rob people that are ignorant to the electrical system. HUGE thumbs down.
BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY.
THEY ARE A HUGE RIP OFF.
Today I had an electrician go in after they took my payment for a house call and gave me a quotation for $12000 to change an electric panel.
I said no. An hour later I had another company go in and quoted me for the same job 1/10 of the price.
I never leave bad reviews, especially during these unprecedented time when business need support, but this is 100% thievery.
I am disgusted, and had the feeling they are going to scam me and rip me off as soon as the electrician didnt show up first thing in the morning like I was promised.
People please stay away from this company.
I also had to call them 3 times to ask for a receipt for the house call.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
I told him that I wanted a new outlet in my bedroom and a ceiling fan replaced with a new one that has a light and remote which I purchased from Home Depot. The technician then called his manager in which I was told that if I didn't want to replace the Breakers in my box that Could probably cost me $7000-$9000 Dollars to replace the Box. All of this was told to me with No estimate on the Ceiling Fan or new outlet. I told them I was not capable of Paying that for a one bedroom Condo. They Tried to scare me into Changing my breakers when their was nothing Wrong with them.I can tell you Don't let them touch your electrical Box because what I saw the Guy do was attempt to Damage my Breakers by Banging on them with a screw Driver. I doubt if they can show me Proof that their electrician was actually a real journeyman electrician. This seems to be the Norm in South Florida.
Please don't waste your time. I had them come out to give a quote which was double my other quote. On top of that , I had to pay a $60 trip charge which I know was not disclosed. Awful!!!!!
