Please sell yourselves to a real electric company. Much of the power outages Helene could have been prevented. The trees that took down the powerlines, should have been cut back and/or shortened. All measures that real electric companies take to avoid downed lines. The response to Helene was poor with no communication let alone updates, all part of what a real electric company does. Receiving electric from 2 other companies, I can tell you MCEC rates are not low. They were going up before Helene, what will happen after they pay all the outside crews? Incompetent from top down.

Friendly customer service!
Easy to use app for those who prefer hands on.
Quick to resolve issues.
Most importantly, an exceptional emergency response team! Thank you!!

I don't want to give them any stars! this is worst electric company ever!!!! When the power goes out it take them forever to get it back on. the worst thing is that I am forced to go with them because that is the only power company that is offered where my house is. Now today been with out power since 4am and here it is 3pm and my house is so hot. I have about lost all the food in my freezer and fridge. But they can't tell us when power coming back on. this is not fair at all. I am out all the groceries I bought and I am so hot and miserable, but Mid Carolina Electric will not give you a break on your next bill. They won't help you wthl trying to stay in a hotel so you don't sweat to death!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I could give ZERO , I would. A contractor (RL Underground) that did some work in our neighborhood for MID-CAROLINA damaged multiple yards and have no intent on fixing the damaged areas. Ron who is charge of the project is totally unreliable and does not care that the damage was done and the owner from the contractor only answer is I'll have to talk to Ron.
Was told there work was guaranteed for 1 year and it's been 6 month's with no resolution.

We just called mid carolina about a week ago after a big storm and our power box was fine until the next storm aka today which blew the power box up again so I called AGAIN and they sent someone with there 8 year old boy for like maybe 10 minutes and just now it blew up again and now they are closed so me personally I don't recommend it. Do better mid carolina

These people are thieves! We are so careful with our electricity. We used way less electricity in April than in March, yet our bill was almost 3x as much. I thought it was some type of error so I called in to check on it. Turns out they've decided to rob you from 4-7 pm! They take your highest usage during that time frame and charge you an EXTRA $12/kw (on top of the normal $5.15/kwh)! So if you would like to take a hot shower after work, cook dinner at dinner time, or throw in a load of laundry before bed- they will charge you almost 3x the appropriate amount. This is NOT normal. They even say on their website that their ridiculous system is ""...one you won't find from other electric providers."" They claim they allow us control of our electric bill- that is as long as you don't use electricity from 4-7. You want control of your life? Simply shower at 8 pm, eat dinner at 10, and do your laundry at midnight. Thank you Mid Carolina for always putting your customers first!

Like every other MONOPOLISTIC UTILITY COMPANY! Out to screw you! Competition from other companies would help fix this! There are none!
If you own a house install 1 or 2 solar panels per year. Per MCEC you only need a licensed person to connect to your meter. This will not make your bill disappear each month but will reduce it alot! It's like giving the finger to these ""too big"" monopolies!
If I'm reading my bill correctly:
5 cents per kWh regular rate
$12 per kWh peak use.
Very very wrong! Just checked my bill to be sure this was correct.
Each month every member pays $28.50 per month. When you multiply this fee by 47,000 members equals
$ 1,311,300.00 we all pay each and every month, then multiplied x 12 months = more than $16 million dollars each year just to have these CROOKS provide us electricity...that's insane !!!

I've never experienced a company who cares as much for their members and employees. MCEC goes above and beyond.

Professional and friendly. Their linemen work hard to restore power when it goes out, working in all kinds of conditions. They are quick to help neighboring states, as well, when natural disasters happen.

For three months, we have not received billing statements. The firsts month, we paid the late fee. I called to inquire about it and the initial phone representative was sarcastic with me as if she did not believe we hadn't received a statement. I called back and reached another representative who gave us a one-time courtesy refund for the absence of a billing statement for the second month. How can we determine when the bill is due if we are not notified of a due date? The bill is not due on the same day every month. I wrote the company asking for an explanation of why we are not receiving bills and still have not received a reply. I gave an extra star for the one representative who expressed concern and empathy. Customer care should be any businesses priority, whether or not they monopolize an industry; being in a powerful position should make a company owner more humble, not insensitive to the needs of others. Please be caring and gentle with your customers, and? train all staffing to do the same.
