Our property manager hired this guy to do some work on a vacant suite and it has been a nightmare for the entire complex since then. As I'm writing this, I'm sitting in an office with half electricity and no AC....in the summer. He was supposed to show up 8/19 & 8/20, but just didn't show up. They ended up coming 7/26 & 7/27 and caused a whole mess. They just literally cut a group of wires. We come into work with no power at all. He comes in, singing....and telling us he cut this wire and we need to replace it. What!? Really!?? He then starts freaking out trying to scramble because all of us tenants are now angrily staring at him. The AT&T guy that was there for one of his clients was the one to fix everything that day, really? So we're all good, and then on Friday 8/8 our power went out again. He blew a fuse, but didn't tell us he was doing any work so we could be prepared. Our cable guy came out to make sure we were all good with everything and he said whatever splicing the guy did was horrible and he was 100% positive we were going to have issues in the future, low and behold....

We had power today until now. And the guy is nowhere to be seen. We can't get ahold of him on his cell phone, his voicemail is full.....This guy is a joke and I hope our property manager gets all of this work for free.

After using Mickey a couple more times, I have to drop his rating, along the lines of what others have said. I would give him 2 1/2 stars. His prices are better than other electricians (electrical work is super pricey!), and for our first job, everything went pretty well. But, the more you work with him, the pushier he gets, and the more you see that a lot of the work is done pretty sloppy. He kept pushing really hard (and I mean over the top) for a bonus, even though he didn't do anything beyond what I had hired him to do. He did fix some of the things that I was disappointed by, but overall, I won't be calling Mickey again. You get what you pay for.

As it was said before by others this person is a fraud. He will bid as Newman Electric and then demand personal checks as he does not have a licensed business and the IRS is after him! He is illegally acting like a licensed contractor.

No insurance, no bonding, really bad work quality, he and his associates will do things that are against code - be prepared for failing inspections once these guys have touched your home.

Bad attitude on top of that and flat out lies about what has been done or completed.

Avoid unless you want to fund an illegal and tax evading 'business' and be prepared for non compliant work.

I've used Mickey to update my electrical panel and did a great job last time. So I called him again so he can install 3 fans which required electrical wiring on all three rooms. I have to say he did a good job, except for some wiring that looks very sloppy that's outside of my home. I told him about this issue as this could be a red flag if an inspector were to come by my home, or if I need to refinance, the appraiser would definitely note this as a hazard. He said he would fix it, brought a crappy piece of tube that he said he was going to use, but never came back to fix it. This is after I paid him too. He said this was going to be extra and I understand, sometimes you cant project how much the job will cost and I acknowledged that I would pay him extra for this since it was important to me. But never heard back from him... I have to give him 2 stars for this for lack of not completing the job.

If you want a rude and inconsiderate electrician then he's your guy!

Never in my entire life have I receive such awful customer service and this is just speaking to him on the phone! I can only imagine what he's like in person. He basically YELLED at me over the phone. My advice for everyone is to avoid, avoid, and avoid. Go somewhere else where you aren't treated like a beggar but a client.

Ok it's been over 1 year and I am admiring his work in our little condo more now than ever- Winter and short days w more lights on and all. I feel I owe it to him to put this up as he was a really cool and a funny guy to work with, not perfect but hey who is right?

If you are looking for a way to make your place feel bigger and more modern I highly recommend recessed dimable halogen lighting for its warmth in color to adjust w mode. I really appreciate the attention to detail he had in the placement of our halogen recessed ceiling lighting ""cans"". Probably the best home improvement investment we have put into the house. He suggested a non- linear light placement which looks so much better than 6 square light placements of equal distance and it makes such a big difference in the look and feel of our place.

I called around to at at least 5 different good yelp reviewed electricians and got at least 4 to come over and quote me on the work that needed to be done: 11 recessed ceiling lights , Dimming switches up and downstairs, bathroom fan install, kitchen recessed can and switch, new outdoor light installation w drilling new holes and wiring it all together. The Bath rooms also got the recessed dimmable lighting. He also mounted our flat screen above my fireplace.

His prices where the lowest of all the electricians that came over. One less star due to one light can that has been cranky and turns on and off at random that I have fixed myself by just wiggling it around my self, it might not even be his fault could be the material selection etc. Everything else has worked great w no problems at all.

I would use him again. Cheers!

Mickey did work for me 15 years ago from a Pennysaver ad. I called him recently and got the best quote on re-wiring my 1927 garage to turn it into a man-cave. Three of his guys arrived at 7:30 am and installed it all by 3:30 pm with new conduit, 120/240 volt grounded wiring, 15 and 20 amp outlets as well as new flourescent lighting inside and outside the garage. He and his guys do quality work, on time, and on the money.

Mickey has done a series of electrical jobs for us including the relocation of our main electric panel, the installation of light fixtures, outlets and speakers. He has done consistently excellent work. I recommend him.

**IMPORTANT** Check Mickey Newman's license with the city. I found out after he did my work that he had been unlicensed for over a year and had NO BONDING and NO INSURANCE. According to the Contractor's State License Board, his license number 632453 expired in 2009 as did his Bonding. BEWARE. Look it up yourself if you doubt.

It all started out okay. He was prompt in giving an estimate and his guys showed up on time the first day and dug in. I was given a 4 day estimate for completion. 2 weeks later they still were not done. His guys didn't show up every day and Mickey was sending them to other jobs instead of ours. He kept asking for more money. Mickey asked me if one of his guys could sleep in our house since he didn't have anywhere else to stay. Seriously. His guys used mismatched outlet colors, some ivory, some white, in the same box!

The city inspector came by and gave him 6 or 7 dings, which Mickey changed. But first he got upset with me for letting him see everything. He apparently hadn't bought permits for the whole job, and now had to.

When the job was finally done (almost), we discovered a handful of lingering issues. Mickey stopped answering his phone and missed the handful of appointments that he'd made for finishing. I finally saw him one day at Lowe's and he came by the next day to fix the problem. This problem was that they'd installed the bathroom fan, but never the exterior exhaust, so it was venting moisture directly into our attic. He told me no problem, and had his foreman do the job. 5 minutes later he was 'done.' And then I saw the job. He'd attached the vent to the fan and placed the exhaust end next to an attic vent. The hose was held in place with an errant 2x4 he simply laid across it. I told him that wasn't acceptable and Mickey had to return with the proper roof venting hardware. They finished.

There were other problems too, like wire junctions with out boxes in our crawlspace. When I found these while doing some other work, photographed it, and told Mickey, his first response was ""why were you under your house?"" They took care of the problem, but not without attitude.

To this day there are issues with 3 way switches, and the fact that they wired my bathroom into our garage sub panel instead of the main panel. I am just tired of contacting him.

This guy is just waste of time. He did not show up for his appointment. He did not even call and let me know. I had to call him back an hour later. All he could say was he was sorry. Very unprofessional. Btw, his licence is also expired. I would not hire this electrician.
