Disappointed! Recommend on Nextdoor and not impressed. We had 2 outdoor ceilings fans replaced on the patio, we already had the fans. So we paid to have them installed. They were brand new, they took them out of the box. We were charged $400. Which I thought was extremely high. All of the wiring was already done. After they left, we noticed one of the fans was rocking and making a loud noise. We contacted them to have this issue resolved. We were told by the owner that they would be back out the next week. No one called or ever came by. So we contacted them again the following week and spoke with the owner again. He apologized for forgetting and asked us to fill out another service call. We finally got a call back the next day and his assistant came out. (He was one of the original guys that came out the first time) Without looking at the fan, he told me to take the fan back to the manufacturer and didn't even offer to take it back down. At this point, I'm very irritated. I reminded him he was the one that installed the fan initially and he had some issues obviously installing it the first time because he was beating on the top of it. I told him there was nothing wrong with the fan, that it was brand new and to please look at it, instead of just assuming it was a manufacture defect. He finally with hesitation got up on his ladder and looked at it. He had obviously left a couple of screws loose and he tightened them. Problem Solved . There was no issue with the fan it was human error, Which I could totally forgive , if he wasn't so quick to dismiss it. I know we will not use them nor recommend them, simply because of the attitude and excuses received.

My husband and I had been talking about having our ceiling fans (x6) replaced and having someone come replace a couple of sockets. We found Barney's on Angie's list, and I sent a request through their website on Wednesday around 11am. They called us around 2 pm, and offered to come the next day (yesterday) at 11:00am.

They contacted us at 9:00am, and were done with a job early, and asked if they could come sooner than 11:00am. They showed up quickly, were very friendly, listened to my concerns, and immediately went to work. Not only did they do the job that they had promised, but they went above and beyond to ensure that things were done the right way. We moved into our house two years ago, and all of the fans were original to the house, and had not been installed properly (no fan boxes). Both guys crawled into our exceptionally small, very hot attic to install all new boxes so that they could ensure none of the fans would unexpectedly fall from the ceiling.

They worked efficiently, were friendly, and did a fantastic job. They even swept the rooms when they were finished. The price was very reasonable, and the owner (Barney) stopped by during installation to make sure the work being done was up to standard (it definitely was).

This company is honest, respects its clients time, and provides exemplary work. I'll continue to use them in the future for any electrical needs.

I emailed Barney's for a quote one night. He got back to me the next day. I wasn't able to answer and he made a follow up call a couple days later.
We chatted about what I was looking to do. Unfortunately, what I want to do isn't possible, so he won't be coming out for this job, but I'll definitely give him a call for future needs. I really appreciate that he didn't waste either of our time.

My experience with Barney's Electric was by far the worst experience I have had with a service company. I called early in the morning to make an appointment and was told by Barney he could not make it that day but he could be there in the morning. To go to his site and request the appointment leaving my name, number and address, which I did. He did not show up as he said he would so I called and he said oh you wanted me today, can't make it but he could have someone there the next morning. The next morning they showed up 20 minutes late and 2 technicians and a student intern came in. This was the beginning of the disaster. We discussed what I thought I needed and wanted to do with my kitchen remodel, adding of under counter lights, moving can lights, etc. What I did not know was that they start the clock ticking at $200.00 an hour from the time they were supposed to be here until they leave, even if they are not physically working. They had the intern remove the can lights so he would have something to do and figured it would be work they would be doing later. The total charge was outrageous, I was left with empty holes in my ceiling, light bulbs just hanging in others (as he removed the eyeballs, two band new switches removed from the wall and thrown in the trash, two holes cut in my dining room wall and two in the kitchen. Very little work done, lot of talking, petting the dog and telling me what lights to buy. I was so upset when they left I called and asked to speak to Barney. Barney came out a couple of days later... with one of the technicians who had been there the first day. When I asked him how he could rationalize what I was charged vs the work that was done, he asked who my contractor was (there was none for the electric changes and he said had he known that he would have walked away from doing any of the work... and that all I needed to do was read his reviews, they said how good he was. He was condescending, rude, and disrespectful. Then he said see I am here and I am not charging you. He said I will give you a quote for the work you need done, which he did a couple of days later which was outrageous. Due to his outlandish expense and his talking down I would never consider doing business with Barney's Electric, and he made it clear while he was here that he did not want my business They need to be clearer that they are going to charge even while trying to determine what needs to be done, and in my case they overcharged for time they were not there and time they were not working. Lesson learned.

Barney was great!! Had a issue on a weekend (Saturday) and needed someone to come out before we left town on vacation. Realizing the time crunch I went to our Nextdoor page and found Barney's electric came highly recommended on Nextdoor so I gave them a call. Even though he was closed Barney still answered the phone on a Saturday. Barney attempted to walk me through resolving the issue over the phone. Unfortunately, I was not able to be resolved the issue on the phone*. On Monday morning he showed up and located and fixed the issue quickly. *(It was a bad breaker and wiring so I commend him for trying to help me out over the phone, but I wasn't going to be able to fix it myself anyway)
