Erick and his dad and brother spent every day in our new-to-us 1917 home for over 2 weeks upgrading our old knob and tube wiring. They were always on time and updated us with any changes to the schedule and communicative about what was accomplished each day and what was happening next.
It was clearly involved, tedious, and sometimes messy work, in the crawl space under the house and in between our old, crumbling lathe and plaster walls.
They took care to clean up each day, took time to explain what was happening, and offered opinions and suggestions. They endured being mansplained to by the solar panel company (that was also onsite at the same time).
This is the second time we've gone through the process of updating electrical in an older home, so I have extra appreciation for how thorough and communicative they were!

This is the second time I called Erik Mendez for electrical work. We recently had our driveway replaced and during the demolition of the old driveway a LIVE wire was discovered that didn't go to anything. I called Erik on Friday, and he said he could come by on Monday - which was wonderful. He and another electrician came and within a few minutes were able to locate where the wire originated and was able to disconnect it from power. He is HONEST and SKILLED and very personable! He did a great job again, and I will most definitely use him should the need arise in the future.

Made an appointment with Mendez Electric to diagnose a reason for intermittent power drops I was experiencing at home. They showed up the same day and, after checking the electrical panels and service drop, recommended that I have the power company check the service drop connections before spending any money looking at other possible causes. Alameda Municipal Power came out, confirmed a bad connection in the service drop, and fixed the problem. Although Mendez Electric spent almost an hour checking things out, the evaluation was free. Thanks for the honesty!

Such a hardworking, family-owned and operated business! Erick is deeply kind and professional. I have hired him (and his father and brother) for many jobs in my 1907-built home. They have upgraded outlets, installed 240V power supply, and many smaller jobs. I have found Mendez Electric to be punctual and trustworthy, and I have referred them to many people who were happy with the service. Highly recommend!

We called after our power was out and they were extremely helpful in diagnosing the problem over the phone at no charge and even recommended an AC repair team to help us fix what was wrong. We needed a 240v 50amp 14-50 plug installed for our plug in hybrid. As any work on older houses go, we encountered barriers and had to do more work then originally thought. They came and dedicated 3 people to our project and got it done perfectly and in a very timely manner for a fair price!! I will definitely call on them again for electrical needs.

Great father-son team. Really felt like they cared about how we were treated and that they provided the best service. The workers are all really good people whom I enjoyed passing pleasantries with as they did their job. Mendez is not the cheapest around, but for electrical work we decided not to mess around and go with a licensed professional. They were very accommodating with changes and did not nickle/dime us for simple requests, which I greatly appreciated. I encourage you to let Erick and team do you work.

They handled a variety of electrical issues, gave us very good advice for safety and code requirements, and did thorough and excellent work. Because they handle a variety of other types of things we're getting estimates on additional household repairs for the immediate and near future. Very happy with their work, and the care they took including COVID precautions.

Erick, Santos and the guys were very professional and courteous. They did a fabulous job upgrading our whole house to code with a new panel and lines, power and lights in our garage, bathroom fan, 2 wall sconces, and lights and outlets outside and inside our home. Reasonably priced and highly recommended!
