My husband contacted Generac to inquire about putting in a whole house backup generator. They set us up with someone to come out for an estimate. They never showed. My husband contacted another company that installs the Generac and they did not want to even deal with us -basically stating that it was too much money for us (how would they know; they don't know us). Another phone was call made to a dealer who stated that they do not come to Vallejo.

My husband contacted Generac again requesting an appointment. Luckily they set us up with MEL Electric. The woman who called us from MEL was very friendly and helpful. She set us up for an appointment. Brandon showed up for the appointment. What a knowledgeable man. He let us know that we could not put it where we thought it should go. He scoped out our yard and came up with a place that would work much better. We inquired about financing and he called us back within a few hours. I cannot stress how knowledgeable and nice this man was.

Great electrician and a nice guy. They did a great job, proposed smart solutions to reroute our 220 for our dryer, and his prices were reasonable. Punctual and did everything he said. I'll use him again.

We had three days of work upgrading 1940s and 1950s electrical and adding new circuits. The crew did a great job at a reasonable price. As others have said, Matt communicates well via email, text, phone, etc. Will be calling them for our future projects.

Haven't done the work yet but so far service has been excellent. They submitted a detailed estimate and responded to questions promptly. When I decide to go ahead with the project, replacement of an ancient electrical supply, MEL Electric will be at the top of the list. I also am going to contact them regarding a back-up generator. Living in 3rd World California, which has a totally unreliable power supply system, makes this necessary.

Where do I start. I contacted MEL regarding a Generac generator after getting the runaround from the manufacturer.

I received an appointment. Matt showed up on time and we discussed my requirements. He gave me alternatives and a ball park estimate. Within days I received a firm contract via email. The scope of work included everything including acquisition and delivery of the generator, installation by MEL and a licensed plumber. They researched and pulled permits.

After accepting the contract and a payment for the generator I was given a ballpark installation date dependent on delivery of the generator. Once the generator was secured I was given a firm installation date. Ebony frequently called to update me on status and to answer any questions.

Matt and the crew showed up as promised and the work was complete within the day. Installation was neat and professional. The next day a member of Mell's crew showed up to meet the county inspector. He then covered the generator and transfer switch operation in perfect detail. Afterwards there was a full test and the generator was set up for it's biweekly test.

One big lesson from my experience: Don't attempt to install a generator without a experienced partner. MEL Electric is a personal and professional organization, period.

Extremely knowledgeable and punctual. First appointment to analyze the work was 10 minutes. Second appointment to do the work was 30 minutes.

Even though the job was simple, it was very well done. If you can't do the easy things right, don't bother with anything harder.

This contractor deserves a solid ""10"" for an excellent experience overall.
Here's why:
1] There is a very nice woman who answers the phone and schedules estimates/service, and reminds you 1 day prior of your appointment. Her demeanor is super- friendly/positive and VERY professional-- a pleasure to interact with.
2] Next, I'd like to comment on my request for an estimate for electrical service work. Matt (turns out he's the owner) provided an on-site estimate. He arrived promptly, was friendly, extremely knowledgeable and willing to share that knowledge in a respectful manner.
He is also the last of a dying breed: an HONEST contractor! He told me I didn't need the service I was inquiring about. In explaining why, he respectfully provided me with an impromptu ""Electrical 101 class."" As a result, I totally understood the reasons why my home would remain safe even without this service. Rather than just selling me what I thought I wanted, he ran through the logic and reason of my request and we ultimately decided that it wasn't needed. Who does that nowadays? Uh, apparently no one-- but MEL. (Full disclosure: MEL was the 3rd of 3 contractors I called and who provided on-site estimates. MEL is the ONLY contractor who said, ""You really don't need this-- here's why..."")
As a result of his honesty, I will only call MEL Electric for my next service request. They have proven themselves to be a professional, trustworthy business, and that's saying a LOT these days.

Matt's the best, did very good work from start to finish and left the jobsite clean when he was done. He even clocks the cover plate screws! I appreciate the detail. I would use Matt and MEL again and highly recommend them.
