In selecting a name for our company, we aimed for a name with local significance and relevant to our region. Preserving local history is important to the founder of Mayacama, so we realized this as an chance to recognize an American Indian tribe that some residents might not be aware of. We selected the name was Mayacama (Maiya'kma), a village of the Yukian Wappo known to be in proximity to the areas of St. Helena and Calistoga. A lot of people in the area know about the Mayacamas Mountains, but like the names Sonoma and Napa, any real history is not well known.
