I’m Manuel, but everyone calls me Manny, and I truly appreciate it! I began my journey in electrical work in Cuba when I was just 20 years old; it didn’t take long for me to realize my passion for it, so I enrolled in school to earn my license. After completing my training as an electrician, I joined a large company in Cuba that paid me a mere $10 a month—yes, you read that correctly, just $10 each month. After five years of working for that amount, I decided to take a leap of faith and risk my life to cross the ocean on a makeshift boat that I built with 11 friends. After two weeks, we landed in Key Largo, and it felt like I was starting anew. I quickly relocated to Miami for a year, then to Orlando, where I kicked off my career with Terry’s Electric, a great company that paid for my education for four years. Upon completing my education, I obtained my journeyman license, and after two years, I pursued my state license. In the end, after six months of effort and late-night studying, I achieved my goal and became a Certified Electrician.
