I go by Manny, short for Manuel, and I love that nickname! I started my electrical career in Cuba at the age of 20; it quickly became clear that I had a passion for it, prompting me to attend school and obtain my license. After completing my training as an electrician, I joined a large company in Cuba that paid me a mere $10 a month—yes, you read that correctly, just $10 each month. After five years of earning that wage, I made the bold decision to risk everything and cross the ocean on a homemade boat with 11 friends. Two weeks after our journey, we reached Key Largo, and I realized I had been reborn. I soon moved to Miami for a year, then to Orlando, where I launched my career with Terry’s Electric, an excellent company that covered my schooling for four years. After finishing my schooling, I sought my journeyman license, and two years later, I aimed for my state license. Ultimately, after six months of dedication and long nights of studying, I successfully passed my test to become a Certified Electrician.
