We hired Mike to build a guest house on our property in Cazadero and are truly thrilled with the way it turned out. From plans sketched on graph paper, our vision evolved with Mike's input, knowledge and guidance. He checked in with us regularly and reviewed every decision about materials and installation so we felt confident about each stage of the project. He is very thorough and thoughtful in his work and carefully explained our options, helped to quickly and cleverly problem-solve and offered sound advice throughout. His crew was super friendly and professional and together they created a finished structure that far exceeds our expectations.

Mike and his crew are great. They built us a beautiful redwood deck in Monte Rio within two weeks of starting it. He listened to our desires and then we let him 'loose', kind of like you would with an artist you trust. He came through, we are very happy with the end result. He was able to stick to his estimate and have the retaining wall complete in the expected timeline. The wall looks great and was well constructed. We started working with Mike and his crew in the Fall of 2013 on a house in Bodega Bay.

The house had a detached two car garage and needed a lot of work to address termite damage and general wear and tear.

Mike and his crew did all of the following for us:

1. Repaired all damaged areas of the exterior on both the garage and the house.
2. Replaced all external door hardware and two external doors.
3. Painted both structures.
4. installed a french drainage system
5. Replaced a retaining wall and designed a new pergola entrance.

His crew also helped with clearing out years of collected debris under the structures and on the property.

Throughout the process Mike was in constant communication with us. He kept us informed of progress with emails and photos of the work as it was being completed. He and his team showed a great deal of pride in the work they were doing. They did fantastic work and neighbors constantly stop as they drive by to comment on how great everything looks.

if you want a reliable and honest contractor that really cares about doing things right , Mike Stokes is the guy to call.

Mike did an incredible job designing and building my redwood trellis. It is the cornerstone of my backyard. I used him a second time to build my backyard fence. Again, the quality of the design and construction is superior.

Mike has vast knowledge and skills in form and function construction. I highly recommend him!

Thanks to Yelp, I found Mike and agree with all of the positive reviews. He's a great guy, who in addition to having a solid understanding of construction really understands the importance of aesthetics. We had a retaining wall that collapsed. Aware that cost was important, Mike found a brilliant way to both ensure the integrity of the wall while designing a structure that was pleasing to the eye without busting our budget. In addition, Mike generously shares his expertise. I had a few questions about some small projects that I was hoping to do on my own, and he patiently took the time to explain the bests way to tackle the work. I highly recommend Mike for any construction/landscaping project. He's honest and employs hard-working affable workers to assist him. The project was completed sooner that we had expected, and the workspace was left in pristine shape.

We found Mike on craigslist in July 2007. My husband and I had just bought a small lake house in Lake County that needed a lot of work. Because the house was so far away, we wouldn't be able to directly supervise the job and needed to find someone not only with the skill set that we needed---but someone that we could TRUST to work on his own and accomplish the many different projects that we had in mind. As it turned out--Mike installed beautiful hardwood floors, custom wainscoting, three beautiful decks, privacy fencing, a beautiful vaulted cedar ceiling, insulation, custom Trex railings, rustic picket fencing, custom windows, wrought iron railings, and a new custom kitchen. Moreover, he enthusiastically embraced our desire to use recycled materials...virtually the entire project was completed using used materials that we purchased on craigslist.

Not only did Mike produce custom work that exceeded our expectations; but did so with virtually no supervision. We would give him a vague idea of what we wanted to accomplish--and Mike would design, fabricate, and install what can only be described as a perfect execution of our vision. We are very happy that we found Mike and look forward to using his many skills on our next project. We would heartily recommend Mike to anyone desiring an honest, hardworking, and skilled ""green"" artisan.
