I needed a light fixture replaced and Luminous did the job quickly, professionally and cost effectively. The electrician was very safe and professional, leaving my house clean and installing my light in no time. I will definitely use them again.
Very professional and courteous. Shows up on time. Knowledgeable. Friendly. Respectful. Couldn't say enough great things!
Patty G.They texted reminders about appointment. Photo was sent if whom to expect to arrive. Ben was courteous and nice sense of humor. He was responsive with my questions as well as knowledgeable.
Chris M.Luminous Electric brought our 1957-built home up to code (required for insurance). The home had the standard older-style wiring of that decade, with no grounded outlets anywhere in the house. They were able to resolve that without rewiring the entire place by modifying each outlet and installing a ""GFCI"" box. A 1600sqft house cost about $4000 to bring up to spec.
They also did our inspection, which if you don't know (I didn't) isn't allowed to touch anything. After buying, we did, and moving a fridge in the garage revealed wiring the previous owner must have done himself - and it was melting. So check everything again after you buy, letting them move stuff around this time! They were able to safely remove the melting low voltage wiring and install proper conduits in about a half hour.
Another thing I didn't know, is that when an existing outlet is grounded, it doesn't mean you'll get that third prong available so you can actually take advantage of it - it just means it's hooked to the GFCI box. When I noticed most outlets were still 2 prong and called Luminous about it, they were incredibly generous, offering to swap out everything for 3 prongs for free! I didn't even ask for free, just wanted a quote since it was on me for misunderstanding. They definitely went above and beyond there - had to be at least 20 outlets they replaced.
I also had them install a surge protector, for about $100. Duke Energy constantly tries to get you to rent one (to protect you from... them...) for something like $17/mo, so just buy one from Luminous. It'll pay for itself in a year.
Melody S.We just installed a GFCI outlet under our sink for a water filtration system. We weren't sure what we were looking at for pricing so we weren't sure if we wanted to move forward with this project or not. This company was the only one I called that was willing to give me a range of what I'd be looking at over the phone, everyone else insisted on sending someone out before even giving me a reference. I had no idea if I was looking at 100 or 1000. I am 38 weeks pregnant during a pandemic, so I wanted to know if it was even in our price range before we had someone come to our house. They gave me a range that I was comfortable with for reference, although I knew it wasn't an exact quote. Scheduled a technician to come out. Got a text a few minutes before he came with his photo and bio, which was a nice touch. Minh was fantastic and kind, even helped carry a package at our door into the house when he got here. He even replaced another outlet of ours on the same circuit as the gfci for free. Overall my experience with luminous electric was fantastic and I will be calling them again for any electric needs!
Renya M.We recently purchased a home in St Pete and the electricity was a hot mess. The previous owner had a junction box sitting on a milk crate in the crawl space and a high voltage cable hanging on the ground under the deck with no conduit. We had Steve and Aldo come out to our property to mount the junction box to make it safer, we upgraded our panel from 100 amp to 200, and had an electrical conduit installed around the high voltage cables that were hanging on the ground under our deck. We've had several teams of contractors at our home for the past few weeks, from roofers to pest control and Steve and Aldo were some of the most professional guys we had working on our property. They were at our home for three days and had to work around some other contractors as well as a lot of debris under the house from the previous owner. Not one complaint, they got it done and they took the time to explain everything they were going to do and everything they did after they completed the work. The quality of their work was super clean and they were both a pleasure to work with. So impressed with Luminous, you will be in good hands if you go with them!
- -.Chad came over and didn't wear a mask, along with his colleague. We have used luminous electric for awhile and this was the first time during the pandemic that the technician chose not to wear their mask. It just put a bad taste in our mouth and we had to shell out $50 for mediocre service. We wanted them to come inside to take a look at some inside work, but we chose not to do so because we were uncomfortable at their approach with this pandemic. There seems to be a lot of changes with this company.
Very High Prices. . . Low Quality
In Dec, 2020 I had an electrician from Luminous Electric replace an existing fan with a new one. Before installation, he told me it would cost $250. (They won't give you a price when you make an appointment, only after the electrician has seen the job.) He installed and tested it on one speed, and everything was fine.
Later, when we turned on the fan to other speeds, the fan clicked. We contacted the manufacturer and they said that if it continued to click after running it for 24 hours, that it was defective. It clicked after running it for 36 hours.
We contacted the store where we bought it, and they sent an installer to completely replace the fan, no charge. He came and twisted the extension rod, and the clicking was gone. Nothing was wrong with the fan, only the way it was installed. He also told me that the standard charge to install a fan is $80.
I asked Luminous Electric for a refund due to poor installation service and over-charging me (more than 3 times the going-rate). They sent $50. Doesn't seem ethical, does it?
They did an awesome job and price was very reasonable.
Special attention to detail and work.
Mike Cumble was our technician and he was very professional.
They cleaned up and were very neat.
We are from Ohio and needed some electric work done.
We did not have any contacts or recommendations . We looked on Angies list and many popped up but we took a chance on this company. Very glad that we did and could not be more satisfied.
We will definitely use this company again!
Tech was very nice. HOWEVER, I was shocked by the high price of the estimate (over $5k) for what needed to be done. I was told the only way the work would be done was to re-wire half the house. Had another company come out with an estimate of less than $500 that didn't even mention a full re-wire. Save your money and get a second opinion.
UPDATE: That was the selected due to being the closest option on your website. I explained this multiple times and asked multiple times for a quote to just fix a small area. This was refused. I was told my only option was the 5k estimate.
