Recommended Customer Reviews

For over a year, I have been teetering and tottering on whether I should stop dealing with them out of some sense of loyalty and dependability from being a long time customer. I've spent lots of money with this business. I have had them do electrical work, install two new toilets, replace all of the pipes under my home, repair duct work that was damaged due to flooding about twenty years ago and replace a hot water heater with a hybrid heat pump efficient water heater.
Today I am finally ready to break up with Love Plumbing Air & Electrical. Yesterday, they sent a technician to my home to see why my hot water was boiling. I purchased the hot water heater (Hibrid heat pump on January 4, 2021). Here's the series of events that took place since yesterday February 8 - 9, 2024.
1. Ty says the top element is gone and it's the reason for the issue. It will cost $322 to repair.
2. I inform Ty that the unit is under warranty. He asked who installed it. I say you (as in Love Plumbing). He then calls the supervisor on the phone and tells me they can replace the element but I will need to contact Rheams the manufacturer to get reimbursed for the parts and labor. I asked how much is the labor vs parts. Ty says he doesn't know. I ask Ty to hold on why I contact the manufacturer.
3. I contact Rheem/manufacturer and they confirmed the part is under warranty. They say they can overnight the part as that is their protocol. They did not offer to reimburse me for repairs made.
4. The Rheams technician asks to speak to the plumber. I inform her he's on speaker phone. She ask Ty if he performed a diagnostic test. He says no I went by the 4 error codes that were being spit out from the heaters digital display. He said they all point back to the top element not working. The Rheem tech then ask Ty if he checked the bottom panel. He answered no. She then ask Ty to go check the bottom panel as well. I accompanied him to the partial basement to watch as he followed the instruction of the Rheem technician who explained to him that the diagnostic test must be ran first to get to the root cause of the issue. As you can imagine, I am now feeling less confident in the Loves technician on scene.
5. Ty tells the Rheem technician he's getting a reading of 0.1 on both the top and bottom panels. She then ask if his ONN reader is on 200, he says no it's on 25. By now she's guiding the Love's tech through performing the diagnostic test and inside I am feeling like this guy is of the least experience although I am trying to be positive.
6. Ty followed the verbal instructions of the Rheem technician online and was informed the readings that he received from the top and bottom panels are accurate (13.1) and that means the element is not the issue. No new elements are needed. She then explained the issue is the elements are not communicating with the control board because the control code is bad. So you can imagine how that made me feel. That meant I would have paid $322 to Love Plumbing Air & Electrical to replace a part that wasn't needed and not repair the correct problem. Additionally, I would have had to make another call in the future to have the problem reassessed and pay additional money for a repair. Who knows when they would have identified the correct problem. Would they send the same technician back to my home?
7. The Rheem technician then informs both Ty and I that she can overnight the control board. I agree to it and ask Ty can he assist with setting up an appointment for the installation of the control board the next day which today Friday, 2/9/24. He say yes. The agreement is that I would call Love's as soon as the control board is delivered.
8. Before Ty left my home yesterday I ask if I am good with using the water. He said yes. It will go back to the way it was. He said it would fluctuate between hot and cold. Note! The water was scolding hot yesterday morning when I reported the issue. There was no fluctuation mentioned by me. But I took his word as the plumber. Later in the afternoon approximately 1 1/2 hours after Ty left I noticed that the water was getting hot. I checked my breaker box to make sure I had turned it back on and it was. I then contacted Love's to find out how long it would take the water to heat by up. They said it would be an hour. However, I have not had hot water since Ty left yesterday.
9. I called Love's this morning. The sent Ty back out. Ty goes to check on the hot water. He asked men to turn off the breaker. He then tells me he talked to his supervisor and the reason the water is cold because with the control board being bad, the water is fluctuating which is the reason for the cold water. And "" the reason the error codes is that the elements are communicating with the control board"".

We called to get an estimate on a toilet valve leak. He said that all my copper pipes had to be replaced ( ~$5000.00) and he had to cut a hole through the floor to fix the leak which he said would cost around $600.00. That's all I needed to hear and I told my wife to send him away. There's nothing wrong with the pipes, just had those inspected and he's not cutting through the floor to fix a leak coming from the shutoff valve where the rubber gasket has likely failed. Call someone else.

I wish I could give no stars. There is not enough space to detail all of the ""incidents"" that have occurred while having HVAC installed. Sewer line mysteriously becomes detached, left me with a gas leak that was only discovered because i had to call them back out for something else they failed to do. Mysterious loss of power in my garage. Communication is a complete failure. Did i forget to mention their own tech discovered issues with a previous techs work that now needs to be fixed. Do not let these people in your home!

So frustrating - I will never call this company again. I had an appointment with this company to do various things around the house. Ceiling fan and put 8 new light fixtures up - their appointment window is like 9-12 and 3 -6. I'm not totally sure. But something like that. So, I made the appointment for an afternoon I had off on 11/04/22. They called/text me 30 minutes before they were supposed to be here and stated the electrician got tied up needs to reschedule an appointment to next Friday. I'm sure glad I didn't take an afternoon or morning off of work for them not to come to their scheduled time. I understand things pop up, but it's obvious this recurrent problem. Based on the reviews. Now it seems like the new norm for any service you have a scheduled appointment for contract jobs.

Do not go with this company. They will tell you it's a $50 fee to come out for estimate and the fee will be waved if you use their service that same day. All I needed was them to install a refill tube in the back of my toliet. They told me I needed to get a whole new toliet and it would cost $1000.00. I told them my toliet was fine. Then they said they could replace what was in the tank for $600.00. I had just replaced the handle the only other things in a tank is a flapper and bolts. They where going to charge $600 to change something that didn't even need changing. Then they did an ""inspection"" on my house which I told them not to do but they said it was required. They continued to tell me I needed a new toliet downstairs and new bath fixtures on a tub I don't even use. Try charging me almost $3000.00 total. Had to waste a $50 check on them but was better then waiting $3000.00.?

We had signed up for the membership to get routine service throughout the year as well as priority bookings. Every single appointment resulted in late arrivals or even complete cancellations as it became very evident that being a service member did not actually provide priority service. It is not worth the money or the hassle. It is especially frustrating when you take a day off of work and find out that you can't even get the service that day that they committed to. This happened several times to me.

They advertise fair pricing. That's absolute BULLSHIT !!! How do you sleep at night. 30 minutes labor and less than $30.00 in parts and charge OVER $500.00. Why can't companies live up to their statements. I guess it's just Greed. You lost a customer that will never call you again. The plumber knew exactly what it would take to fix the issue ,he just went by the book on what to charge. Damn it be HONEST. You are Crooks !!!

My toilet was making strange noises and my bathroom shower was leaking. I called Loves to look at the problem and this is what they told me. First, they were late. replace the valve for the shower which cost me $225.25 for $30 parts in the master bedroom shower. The guest bathroom toilet he didn't even fix at all and told me I need an electrician because the toilet was vibrating, and it was not the water supply.
The electrician was great he checked everything out including all the other outlets, went under the house, and check the attic. The electrician even looked at the toilet and said to call another plumber because it was not an electrical issue. Paid the $95 dollars for a service visit and call another plumber.
Now I'm over $300 in and called another plumber which guess what, it was the component in the tank that was making all the vibrating noises. It cost me $125.00 for parts and labor. I call Loves to inform them of the missed information I was told about the electrical issue Their plumber claimed it was and the cost associated with his suggestion. The tech said he did not tell me that and didn't know what I was talking about. I requested to speak to the owner, but he didn't return my calls for 3 days. When he did call back, he said his employee didn't remember telling me that and he would come and look at the toilet himself.
I informed the owner that I didn't need him to look at the toilet because another plumber had already fixed the problem. Calling several times and leaving messages really let me know the owner and employees have something in common both don't care about the customers and money is the only issue they are concerned about. I would never use are recommend this company to my worse enemies. Oh yeah, the master bath still leaks, had to diy.

I am in the process of selling my home which is under contract. The buyer requested that Love Plumbing perform an inspection of the sewer line. Love came by and conducted what turned out to be an incomplete assessment. Afterward, Love recommended that the entire sewer line be replaced. Luckily, I know an excellent plumber that performed a complete assessment. It turned out that one pipe was damaged and needed to be replaced, and there was nothing wrong with the sewer line. Love was proposing a job that could have cost 10 to 15 grand. I can see why they have a bunch of negative reviews. Buyer beware if you consider using Love plumbing in South Carolina.

One of the worst customer experiences I've ever had. Please do not trust an estimate they give you. Their intent is not to complete your job and to try to pretend like it's your fault that they did something incorrect. I spent almost $9,000 on a job that initially started out at about $5,000 for total rewiring of my whole house and I still do not have electricity in most of my basement. And now they would like to charge me an additional $2,000 because they made a mistake.
