Super responsive and helpful. We hired them for multiple jobs. They always were clear on pricing and timeline. They did both big and small jobs and always did with a smile.

They installed LED can lights in three bedrooms with a wireless Lutron casetta control. What a difference this made.
They added electrical outlets, installed Ring cameras, installed a chandelier. They crawled into the attic to look for the best installation path. They were thoughtful and communicated questions and issues. I appreciated that. Brant was great. Thank you.

I don't write many reviews but I wanted to express my appreciation for Jim and team at Los Gatos Electric. I called on a Sunday evening after an electrical fire in my kitchen and he walked me through everything I needed to do to be safe until he could get the electrician out to me first thing in the morning. I called other places first and was told they couldn't help me and didn't even take the time to give me advice. So, thank you Jim for taking the time to make sure my family was safe.

Came the same day and earlier than expected. Replaced an outlet in the garage. Will use them in the future

First of all, I'm surprised to read the few negative reviews. Jim's approach to doing business was straightforward and fair.
Shay, the super nice office staff is upfront about service charges and helpful with time scheduling. Mike, the electrician was polite and diligent.
Jim is methodical in his approach to the issues, then uses a tier method to pre-determine possible costs. After agreeing on a bid, the job turned out to be less work and he gave me a break on the price A bid is a bid, but Jim felt it was fair. I highly recommend Los Gatos Electric, they're knowledgeable, they want to do a good job and they're competitively priced.

Had two GFCI breakers fail within 2 days. Went ahead and had all 3 GFCI breakers replaced. Got a discount because more than 1. Tech did great job. Power out only 10 minutes to make the replacements. Yay! Good job. Oh, promptly done.

I would give this company less than 0. My elderly mother hired Jim Halliday to install an electrical panel in 10/2018. The cost is normally $2,500-$3,000 and he charged her $4,000. A county permit and PGE application are required prior to the work, this was not done. His contract/invoice was handwritten on binder paper and the installers messed up the switches. When PGE discovered no permit was obtained, they notified my mother. My sister called and wrote to Jim from May to July 2019, he did nothing. When she threatened to take action, he obtained a permit in Aug, but still did nothing. Only after my mom's realtor called him this Mar. did he finally complete the work and get the permit signed off, but I had to complete the PGE app. Check the status of his Corp. and license if you consider this guy.

Called Los Gatos Electric on a Saturday to discuss upgrading my main electrical panel to support a charger for a Tesla. Phone was answered by Jim Holliday, the owner who asked that I send a couple of pictures of the main and sub panels so he could assess. Later that day, he called me back and said he was in the area and asked if I'd be available at home for his to drop by and see the job in person. At that time, there was no mention of any charge, I just assumed he needed additional info that wasn't included with my pictures.

When he came out, he indicated that there wasn't enough space in any one of the panels to do the upgrade and install the charger, and that the options to upgrade and create space would cost between $2200 and $12000, depending on what option I picked...the most expensive being the option that included 'future-proofing' my house, so that other electrical items could be easily added in the future. The least expensive option included replacing a couple of breakers and sizing them down, so that additional space could be created on the panel. Fine with all this, I signed his estimate for approx $2178 and he asked for a check, which I told him I didn't have with me, but I could pass it on to him on Monday from my office.

Problems started later that evening when he texted me and asked me what time he could pick up the check. I told him I was reconsidering doing the work, before getting a second estimate. He then said I would owe him for a 'dispatch' fee, even though I had never agreed to that, and that I was the unethical one because I asked for time to get a second opinion. It just seems that the sales tactics are too high pressure and that Jim prioritizes collecting the money over doing the right thing for the customer. I am happy I have declined to pursue the project with Los Gatos Electric.

Should've listened to the negative reviews but sadly, I thought the 5 star ones might be legit. Now I'm wondering if they're written by friends. After signing contract and having the most difficult time getting a reply from Jim (he seriously LAGS after he gets your the initial deposit in hand), he finally did some work. UNFORTUNATELY, this man does NOT do honest work nor operate in good faith. Work seemed legit when he asks for payment and only after very close inspection and actual use, we realized that was not done correctly and stopped working quickly after he left, impossible to reach or get Jim to come back out afterwards to fix the job. He completely flat out refused and we were stuck hiring someone else from scratch. This company is a fraud. Use at your own risk.

Always a bit tough to troubleshoot problems but Los Gatos Electric was fine. But even more delightful was their prompt response - same day! Really nice to get a person, and not a recording machine message that may or may not eventually respond.

I called LGE today to hopefully get someone out to my house. Expecting to have to schedule an appointment for days/weeks out, I was pleasantly surprised to know that they could dispatch someone within 30 minutes.
Jim (the owner) showed up and was very pleasant and knowledgable. He fixed my oven in about 15 minutes, cleaned up dangling wires in about 5, then helped me take down a hideous light fixture in a bathroom. It was the most productive and well spent money I have ever spent.
After the appointment, I asked Jim to send over a quote for additional light installment work and, again, expecting this to take a few days, he sent it over in a few hours. Such a great experience and I will definitely be using them again.
