Trust the low-star reviews. If you hire Jim, don't pay him upfront like he will request and be sure to get everything in writing.

I made the mistake of paying Jim upfront for a portable generator tuneup, with him writing that he'd get it in ""tip top shape"" and provide parts and labor for the price I paid him.

When I hired Jim, the generator would start, but it just would not run very evenly, which is what I wanted him to look into. After he drained some oil and changed a spark plug, it did not start at all. He left, saying he would look into some replacement parts based on what he believed the issue to be. We shook on it and agreed he'd be back after ordering some parts.

Well, Jim never contacted me of his own accord after we parted. I chased him with a few emails a few weeks later, asking for status and an invoice/summary of the work that was to come (which he said he'd provide on Day 1 but never did). Just got a quick email back saying he was looking into parts. Meanwhile I had read his online reviews and believed that I had been had.

I also started looking into the generator's newfound issue of not starting at all and identified that the spark plug that Jim had used was either incompatible with my generator or a dud, as the generator started immediately after I switched it out for the spark plug recommended in the owners manual. I emailed Jim to tell him what I did, I no longer needed his services, it was pretty clear that he had no plans to come back, and I wanted a refund. Didn't hear from him. Emailed him again. Eventually I called him. I was stunned that he answered and said he had received my emails, but then launched into telling me ""his side of the story"" about the parts (that really I didn't need) being too costly, he provided 2 hours labor (puzzling over why the generator wouldn't start after he put in his spark plug), and that I benefited from ""all the information"" that I got from him while he was there. Good spin, Jim.

No, Jim, I got taken. You didn't communicate unless I chased you, my generator was worse off after you left, and I spent my own time learning about it after it was clear you were in the wind.

The ultimate silver lining is that I did spend hours learning and tinkering with the generator to get it into tip top shape myself. I shouldn't have to hire a ""professional"" like Jim for a generator service in the future.

Choose this one. They are honest, fair, skilled and knowledgeable. I had
a new dryer, installed in an old house, that wasn't working right. He had a simple solution that worked like a charm and fixed it quickly. Plus he charged a fair price, not based on zip code. I highly recommend Los Gatos Electric, and they would be my first go to if I need more electrical help.

Jim (the owner) from Los Gatos Electric is a scammer. Do not ever use their services. He illegally installed an electric back up batter unit. When his installer left his company it took months for Jim to return a request to complete the permit application so I could register for a lower electric rate. He only appeared with the prospect of additional business which he didn't earn. He tried to say I asked to pursue a non-permit process, which was a lie. After many phone calls and email he finally showed up to try and complete the online application. Every phone call was riddled with excuses, lies, and delays. When he finally showed up months later, I sat next to him for 2 hours and watched him struggle to answer questions (many of which he just made up answers for) in the online permit process which he never completed. He quoted me $1900 for additional work which I never awarded him. I found another company which charged me $500 for the exact same work. If you want to get screwed, call Jim.

As a previous employer for Los Gatos Electric i can justify my rating. I worked for Jim Holliday also known as James Holliday for 10 months in his office doing all his paperwork and I know that he does LOTS of fraudulent things, from not paying employees (Fraud with payroll) never actually giving a paystub, only giving a time card as a paystub. He failed to give me my W2 on time because he never did payroll like he said he would do. He instead offered me a check for all the money that he had taken from my taxes. This is illegal.

He cheats all of this clients, over pricing and not completing the service he promised.

Don't trust Charles Fredrick as he is GREAT a brainwashing clients and future employees to a join Los Gatos Electric, offering benefits that will be taken away in less then a month.

No electrician has lasted more then 6 months and it can be proven.

Jim doesn't have a valid license to work and doesn't have workers comp. Be on the look out.

This company is the worst and have scammed me out of $700 to ""repair"" my generator. They came out to my house, performed a tune-up of my generator but could not explain why the generator still would not power on. They took my battery and said they needed order a part and would come back to install. Two weeks later they have not come back and had an excuse that the part was ""stolen"" from their PO Box. Jim never calls and always has an excuse. I did make Jim sign a paper to explain the work he said he performed for $700 and had him sign it. This will be key in small claims court. Steer clear of this business.

Do not do business with this cat he is a fraud. This cat hasn't paid me and my father, both electricians, for almost a year now. He owes us 3 pay checks. We're not the only electricians he hasn't paid, there are at least 2 more electricians that he hasn't paid and not just electricians receptionist that he's had as well. He uses them for a bit then doesn't pay them so they leave. He uses us to do the hard labor and then when I comes to pay day he makes excuses that next week I'll have your money, next, next, and never happened. A year and still haven't gotten paid or heard from this bitch. I recommend everyone report this fraud and don't even think of doing business with this dirt bag. He's a greedy bastard that loves ripping people off.

This license is suspended and can not be working with it. He instead uses someone else license. The worst electrical company you can call. Jim, who is the owner is only motivated by money. He wants to sell you a 200 amp electrical panel for $15,000 when I called a different electric and he charged we $5000 with inspection. In Jim proposal he never mentioned a inspection and when I asked he said that it wasn't necessary, which is complete lies since electrical panels clearly need inspections to make sure it is done to code.

Theo tok a service charge of $100 before committing to coming out to give a quote. They didn't come until 3 days later. They took ages to do the job. I then realized they disconnected our AC without checking if we had one. This meant we had to call another electrician out today to fix it. They charged us way too much!
