Lory Electric
Company Overview
Chargepoint certified charging stations are my focus.
I specialize in electric vehicle charging stations and associated enhancements such as subpanels or main electrical panel work, but I provide full-service electrical solutions with significant experience in troubleshooting, repairs, retrofits, remodels, and new construction.
In operation since June 2000, Lory Electric has served the community.
I manage everything: owner, electrician, estimator, bookkeeper, and accountant.
Following the principle ""if you want it done right, do it yourself"" often leads to lengthy shifts, but having no team means fewer issues and lower overhead, allowing me to deliver exceptional service, design, and craftsmanship at a fair price, achieving it is done correctly the first time with unparalleled attention to detail and a focus on what is best for my clients now and in the future.
I achieved the Dean's List every quarter I could dedicate myself to college courses, but the hands-on experience of a 20-year-old with no patience, inadequate guidance, zero tolerance for debt, and a part-time job as an electrician caused me to leave college and enter the workforce full-time, earning my electrical contractor's license in June 2000 when I founded Lory Electric.

Tom added an outlet for us that allows us to hook up our generator to our electrical panel. He did an excellent job at a fair price and stuck to his original estimate. He was very honest, responsive and a great communicator through the entire process. The county inspected his work today and also said he did a great job. Highly recommend him.

We lost power in the room where we have our WiFi. Prior to coming over Tom gave me a free tutorial on fixing it myself. He was in and out in 20 minutes and we were back in business.
Tom's fee was very reasonable and he's the guy I'll call next time I need any electrical work.

I'm sure everyone in Marin has been gouged by a contractor or a contractor has tried to gouge them since we all in Marin are so rich. I contacted several electricians telling them I wanted pricing so that I can connect a generator to my home's electrical system rather than running a bunch of extension cords. Most of my estimates were between $2.5K and $3K, but Tom Lory quoted me between $600 and $700 and did a superb job as well as giving me priceless information about buying a generator. Tom is a friendly, personable guy, but more importantly he is a master electrician. And most importantly, he is honest! I highly recommend Tom as an electrician to anyone who has the need.

Today while cooking breakfast the electric stove stopped working. The oven was off, part of the kitchen and family room electricity and back yard lights all off. I called Lory Electric and left a message before work hours. Shortly I received a call back from Tom. I told him the problem and he took the time to walk me through the investigation process: turn off all breakers then back on, go look at the smart meter and see what is displayed. He figured out that the house wasn't getting enough electricity, and that it was not the homes wiring. He said to call PG&E. I called, they cane out quickly and found that their line to the house was corroded, which was fixed.
I'm so grateful to Tom for taking his time to help me resolve this problem. I know that he could have come out to the house for a service fee to diagnose the problem. He was ethical and helpful. That is why I'm taking the time to write this yelp review. I never saw him in person, I didn't pay him anything, but he gave me his time and greatly needed help. If I ever need an electrician, I will call Lory Electric. Thank you Tom, I appreciate you! I hope you do well in your business: you deserve it.

I messaged Tom a video of my lighting project. He answered multiple questions and explained how the project could be completed. Eventually, he said he would be able to do it, but that a lighting store would probably be easier for me. Even after he suggested that I go elsewhere, Tom researched a referral for me. It was so incredibly thoughtful, nice, and honest that he continued to help me even he sent me to another place of business - Above and beyond helpful!

I called Tom as I purchased an electric vehicle and needed 240v installed in my garage. Tom came to my house the day I called and provided me with a quote and then applied for the permit the next day and was ready to start the job. Tom is fair, upfront and honest with exceptional communication skills. After the job was completed he told me to let him know when the final inspection would be for the city, so he could open up the electrical panel etc. for the inspector. I e-mailed Tom the night before and he showed up early and then returned again to close things up. If you need electrical work done, Tom is your man. I HIGHLY recommend him!

This was one of those experiences that give you back your faith. I called Tom for some system glitches I was having. I didn't expect him to be able to come over the same day, but he made time and did. He found the problem, which was incredible minor and charged me an incredibly minor fee. Look, it isn't always going to turn out to be as easy to fix as this was, but the fact that he found it quickly, didn't try to pretend it was anything more seriously and only charged me for the 20 minutes it actually took, plus the 9 miles he traveled made it clear to me that this the guy I could trust to call even if all hell breaks loose. Good guy to boot. Wish service calls would always turn out this way, but I found my electrician.

Excellent response time and professionalism! Look forward to working with Tom again! We had an emergency with the power to our entire house and Tom came within 2 hours of receiving my call! Thanks Tom!

Tom's excellent! After presenting a minor electrical dilemma to Tom, he visited my house after hours to talk me through my problem and provide helpful options. Fair, up front and honest. He'll be my go to electrician going forward...

Tom is a very professional and knowledgable electrician. He called me back in short order and was able to schedule me in after I am sure was a long day of work. He gave me several options for a hot tub connection, and a PG&E fix and was very honest and reasonable with his pricing. He wrote me up the estimate I had requested in a very timely manner and it laid out very nicely what his hourly rate was and the supplies he would need for the job. Tom will be on my shortlist for any future electrical work.
