Lights Out
Company Overview
For the last 35 years, my family has been dedicated to lighting. My journey in lighting has lasted 21 years. My expertise covers a wide range of services including installations, repairs, restorations, recessed layouts, low voltage track work, and troubleshooting. I also work on minor electrical tasks. Don’t hesitate to call if you have lighting or minor electrical needs.
At 12, I started working in my family's lighting company. I established this business around 14 years ago, specializing in light installations and small repairs. The work was fulfilling, and the phone never stopped ringing. Six years ago, I made a pivotal choice to bring on my two trusted team members, who continue to excel in their roles. We focus on lighting, remodels, and resolving electrical challenges.
Growing up in a lighting business, I learned everything from cleaning the parking lot to rewiring lights and assisting clients in designing their home lighting. After that, I attended college in NYC and began a career in advertising, which lasted roughly two years until the dot-com bubble collapsed. I eventually returned to what I truly love. I have been dedicated to this work for 14 years, serving thousands of satisfied clients, many of whom continue to reach out.

Jay F.We enjoyed working with Brett and think he did a great job installing lighting in multiple rooms in our condo. He was professional and left the place immaculate. Also what was incredible helpful was his taste for design and recommendations.
Only downside is that we had some trouble working with Brett in the beginning. It was nothing substantive relating to lighting, but more logistical. Wife and I work long hours during the week and often on weekends and are often times called away on short notice. When we don't have jobs that regularly get us home during normal hours it was difficult to find times to meet and on the weekends when we had windows in between calls there were some issues with tardiness. That said, once Brett understood these constraints and that we weren't just being jerks he worked around our schedules. Probably our fault for not setting expectations and being more demanding in the beginning.
We'd recommend Brett to anyone who needs lighting work. With the benefit of some communication about expectations, he really does a great job and is a pleasure to work with.
Dwayne R.Under Cabinet Lighting Project:
- Brett is the best. Stopped by to take the initial measurements and provide suggestions regarding not only what I thought I wanted, but also, what would make the overall finished product successful.
1. Florescent under cabinet lights
2. Incandescent center ceiling light
3. Recessed incandescent lights framing the center ceiling light
4. Remote switching for the newly installed and remoting of an existing center
ceiling switch for convenience
- workers Shad and (sorry, can't remember the other guys name) were also great. Quick install, cleaned up after themselves, leaving a neat work area.
Brett is excellent every step of the way. 1)Great aesthetic design sense in advising you what fixtures would look best. 2)Budget focused--proposed a solution to light our stairway that saved us $1,000 vs. our original plan. 3)His installation team did very clean work and were very courteous in our house. I would highly recommend Brett.
Geordie E.Plain and simple, Brett Bryant knows lights.
He's amiable and very easy to talk to.
He will get the job done and even go into details as to how light bounces off of paint and curtains...
how that will affect your room's quality of light.
Hire this guy for your lighting needs.
Guess our boy Brett doesn't do large jobs. I needed lights and switches replaced along with the wiring in the house. I was told he didn't take jobs like this, ""plenty of other electricians in San Francisco"".... I was told.
Euge L.ive worked my entire life around contractors.
im the first one to say there are a lot of really bad contractors out there. you have the fly by nights that quote you the cheapest possible prices, then a month later when things go wrong, they change their cell phone numbers and youre sol.
my first advise to people is DO NOT base your decision solely on price. of course price is an important aspect of any project, but it shouldnt be the reason why you choose one contractor over another.
i always tell people, figure out a budget range and find the contractor you are the most comfortable with, the one you trust the most within that budget.....
of course i never follow my own advise... when asked whats your budget, im like whats a budget.... i need to follow my own advise... my own advise i DO follow is finding a contractor you feel comfortable working with.
we really needed to upgrade our lighting situation. you can only go so long with cfls and costco floor lamps. there comes a time when you need to get some grown up lighting.
i got some grown up furniture... finally (read no more milk crates) aka the better half put her foot down and said im not living in a dorm room.
its time for some grown up lighting.
other than the ""no limit no budget"" lighting project my obviously much more financially successful older sister asked me to take care of in her mcmansion a decade or so ago, ive never took on a lighting project.
brett doesnt make you feel like a deer in headlights. he covers the bases without too much detail to get lost in. he explains things pretty simply and without making you feel like youre a dumbass for not knowing some technical information. he described the look and feel the lights were going to create, something thats important because if you are like me, you get lost in other details and dont focus on the important one. i was trying to focus on the technical side of things, i forgot the most important detail... how things will look all lit up!
we have yet to sign any bids and obviously, none of the work we called him for have yet to be completed, but if someone that lives and works around contractors his whole life feels the need to share an experience, its something to take note of.
Brett is terrific. We've used him for years, and he is always prompt, courteous, and most important, extremely good at what he does. Most recently, we had what we thought was a dead electrical line in the house. Brett was scheduled to come by but gave us some suggestions in the interim on how we might be able to fix it ourselves. Sure enough, his advice was pure gold, and we ended up fixing the line and not needing Brett to come by at all.
Houses age, along with all the components inside them. Just be glad that when they do, you have someone as gifted and pleasant as Brett to repair or replace them.
Oliver G.Amazing service. Had a problem that Brett could fix on the phone. No charge so I am very happy.
Susan W.I called Brett to help me with putting up my dining ceiling light.
He was courteous, funny and very helpful. He advised me for the best way to put the lights up, and gave me insight on the best placement in the room. His quote was reasonable, and he stuck to it. He even spent some time helping me set up the lights.
Thumbs up!
GREAT electrician: Returns your calls, reconfirms appointment prior to arrival, shows up on time, completes work on time, professional and delivers exactly what he says - which is a top notch job. He is worth every penny he charges - besides, how else is he going to pay for that Columbia University education he got?? More than your average electrician.
