I called these guys about getting an outlet for a welder and the soonest they could come out was about a week and the receptionist said it would be a free quote. I was excited the whole week leading up to the appointment with the anticipation of getting to play with a new toy that melts metal over the weekend.

Day of I get a call around 8am from a cheerful gentleman, Tim, who let me know ETA was about 30 minutes. He was a delight the entire time he was here and took the time to explain the situation.

My breaker box is located in my garage and the previous home owners did a little DIY work. While sparks are fun, I don't enjoy having them shooting out from the outlets or any part of my home.

As you can guess, Tim recommend we update the breaker box. Tim was knowledgeable and took the time to explain all the problems and why they were problems. We talked about the soonest they could have someone out to do the work and by 10am Nick arrived.

I had assumed that swapping out the breaker box would take an hour or 2. I was way off. I had the pleasure of spending my day with Nick.

Nick is a sharp guy and knows a whole lot. Being like a small child, I wanted to know everything he was doing, why, and how things worked. Nick was kind enough to explain everything and one of the many things that stood out to me was the craftsmanship of how he organized the wires.

During our time, I had to call into work for a meeting about hiring a new employee. This got us on the topic of hiring really good quality people.

We talked Lighting Bug, their hiring process, how they treat their employees. I was impressed by the things I heard. This company takes damn good care of thier people and is something you don't see enough of.

Nick was here until about 6pm and once he was done, he took the time to clean up and threw away all the mess created from cutting wires and drilling into concrete.

This company has really impressed me and I will definitely be calling them back in the future.

Lightning Bug Electric has done it again! Jeremy installed an LED light fixture in my renovated closet quickly. He arrived on time, was extremely professional, and the price was reasonable. They are the only Electrician I would ever call!!!

Update! I would give them even more stars if I could. Had them back out to install extra electricity for a new tankless heater and seriously... They go OUT of the way to accommodate your every need...

Used them for a pool issue which they didn't diagnose (charged a call-out) and said the pump was faulty. But when the pool pump warranty folks came, they said it was electric. Had to call Lightning Bug Electric back who did find fault in the electrical this time (didn't fix but found a workaround) and charged me a full project price ($200). When making the case that they should at the very least refund the first trip (their issue) they put up a big fight. I think I did get it refunded (we'll see) but would be cautious about using them at least for pool electrics...

Replaced a work light in a pump room with an LED light. The appointment took less than an hour and the install finished product looked professional. I would have given 5 stars but it took two appointments to install the light. The first appointment the technician arrived with the wrong materials due to a miscommunication regarding the work order. I would still use them again but call to verify the day before the appointment to confirm the work to be done.

I just bought a house last week, and finally was settled enough to get some laundry done after a long few days of moving. After going to throw my wet clothes in the dryer, I found that my dryer was not heating. Sears came out, and said the plug for the dryer was wired incorrectly. I immediately looked on Yelp and found Lightning Bug Electric. They not only got someone to my house with the hour, Bobby O. was beyond the best. He explained everything to me, got the parts, and even fixed some wiring on the dryer plug for me to ensure the most safety possible. He went above and beyond to make sure I understood and was comfortable with the work he was doing and the price. Not only that, they have a warranty included! I will come back to Lightning Bug (and Bobby O.) for all of my electrician needs :)

Everything about Lightning Bug Electric has been a great experience. I couldn't be happier with the results and already plan to have them out again once we finish some siding work so they can take care of some outdoor electrical.

When I first called, the staff was very friendly and scheduled someone to come out and provide an estimate quickly. They called ahead to let us know that the electrician was on their way, which I appreciate. James showed up for the estimate exactly when he was scheduled to. He listened to what we wanted to have done, then we did a walk through of the house and he gave an honest assessment not only of possible issues, but what was high priority versus what could wait versus things that did not need fixing at all. He was knowledgeable, personable, and honest. Due to the number of items on the list, he promptly rescheduled for a day that was convenient for us an brought Bobby and Nick with him to complete the work. James, Bobby, and Nick showed up on time, did a thorough inspection of the house, the electrical panels, and other issues, then presented us with their findings. As with before, scaled the issues based on what was significant and what could wait. They also had options for us where they were available and told us the benefits and drawbacks of each option. Everyone was professional, but they also seemed to have fun doing the work and working with each other. Lightning Bug has become my go-to electrical service! Will definitely use again!

Let me start by saying I have used this company in the past. Their electricians are prompt and very nice and the work they do is good. However, their pricing, at least for some pretty basic services, is absurd. They came to my house recently to provide an estimate for the installation of two simple light fixtures (already wired; just installing); a ceiling fan (prewired and with support in place); and replacement of a shorted outlet. They will not provide an estimate over the phone. I can only assume this is a strategy to cause inconvenience and the acceptance of overpriced services because they are already there. The electrician got as far as the pricing for the fan and the two lights before I stopped him and told him not to bother going any further. For just those three fairly easy items, it was over $400!! I called two other companies who gave me estimates over the phone that were $200 and $100 less that this for everything (not just three of the four items). I booked one of these and the end cost was exactly as estimated.

Again, their service is good, but the pricing -- at least for this work -- is offensive.
