Although Manny may be okay as a handyman, the fact that he kept me waiting an hour and a half, didn't have the courtesy to tell me he was going to be late and then sounded very surprised when I was upset by this should have been a tip off. So he finally showed up and told me what to pick up at Home Depot - EXACTLY what to pick up, except when it came to fixing the string that had broken on the light in the downstairs unit. He left out the ""light fixture"" part of his instruction, as opposed to just a metal string for the light which was what I picked up because that is what he showed me and told me to get. When I gave him the chain, he asked me ""where the fixture was"" and I told him this was the first I was hearing about a fixture. Long story short, he did not fix the light because I picked up the wrong part due to his incorrect instruction. So instead of him offering to come back and fix it (with my paying him his hourly rate of course) he wanted me to also pay him for his drive time to come back over. When I make a mistake with a customer, I offer to make it up to them. Not Manny. He also left without cleaning anything up. He said he was in a rush to go to another job. So I cleaned up after him. The handymen I had hired in the past have always cleaned up after themselves when they leave messes, so I thought this was also a bit unprofessional. Then finally when I went to pay him he told me he didn't accept personal checks, so I paid him out of my corporate account which was not a big deal (why he did not tell me this on the phone is also a mystery) but then he started asking to see my ID, so I asked to see his ID. Then he told me he would only accept cash or credit card. At that point I did not feel comfortable giving this person my credit card info so I told him he would have to take the corporate check. He then left with the check. Good riddance! I would say if you don't mind when people take your time for granted, show up late and then don't cop to giving you wrong instruction as to what to get at Home Depot - which prevents them from doing the job, don't clean up after themselves because they have another appointment they have to get to (or maybe this is just how they work) and then give you a hard time about your check, then hire him. Otherwise I would say stay away. I was going to give him 1 star but he did an okay job on the repairs so I gave him 2. It's the other issues of unprofessional-ism that are an unfortunate part of doing business with this person.

Manny installed a curtain rod for me on Friday. He was super responsive via the phone and did a great job all around! I would definitely call him again if I need anything else installed.

Called Manny super last minute and he came through and Unmounted our old TV and mounted our new one as well as hung a few other things for us around the house. Very friendly very professional. Went above & beyond. Thanks manny!

Very responsive, easy to communicate with and showed up when promised! Manny did great work and even referred me to a great plumber who also showed up in the same afternoon. All the work was done in 2.5 hours and was reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend!!

Manny was great! He provided fast and efficient service. He was courteous, honest and got to our home really fast to fix our front door. Will definitely be using him again in the future for all our handyman need!

I placed a call to Manny at 11am, and described what I needed to be done.
He told me to text him my address, which I did, and said he would put me on the list and come by in the afternoon.
At 5:30pm I hadn't heard from him, so I sent a text to see if he was still coming by.
He responded by text asking, ""What's the job description?"".
This is after I had already given him the job description.
And then stated that he had not given me an appointment.
The bottom line: never showed up and no follow up.
Very unprofessional!!!
You appear to be very confused or either intentionally not being truthful.
There was no misunderstanding.
After I spoke with you at 11am you clearly stated that you would come by in the afternoon.
That's why I texted my address to you at 11:05am as per your request.
That's is 6 1/2 hours prior to when you said you would come by, not one hour as you have wrongfully stated.
Apparently you forgot that we had discussed the job and your two hour minimum.
Most smart business men admit their mistake instead of making up something that's completely false.

I'll just start by saying that Manny is a nice guy, very friendly and personable. He gave me some helpful advice. But when it comes down to the project I hired him for, I ended up paying $172.50/hour for labor, and a project that was left incomplete. I felt that I was totally overcharged and did not receive the value I had paid for. I had paid for a professional, experienced electrician, instead I got an installer ready to start his weekend. Overall I am unhappy with the work, and disappointed I decided to go with Manny.
Now for the details. I purchased 4 new in the box ceiling fans to replace existing light fixtures in my apartment. After seeing so many outstanding reviews on Yelp, I decided to give Manny a call. On the phone I described my project and asked for a estimate. He told me he normally charges $135/hour for electrical work, but since this was just installing a fan he would reduce to $115. That was a bit more expensive than other quotes I had received, but I went with him because he had received so many good reviews and I knew my building was old and may have some funny wiring. So I needed to hire a professional, with the knowledge and experience to get the job done, and not just an installer who just physically installs the equipment and nothing else. Once he arrived I discover it was $115 per fan. I still decided to move forward, because I needed a professional with knowledge to get the job done.
He installed the first 2 fans with no problem within 1 hour. So for that first hour, instead of getting the $135 hour for electrical work, he got $230 an hour for installing fans. He then moved onto my living room which had a working ceiling light in it. After 20 or so minutes he came to me with a problem. For some reason the fan wasn't working, He showed me with his electrometer how there was electricity coming through the wire, but the fan wasn't working. His estimate was that the wiring was old, and modified. He said it would be expensive to troubleshoot. ( Isn't that what I'm paying for? ) I asked for his advice on how to move forward. Basically he told me that he was going to have to charge me anyway for installing the fan, so I might as well finish installing it. Not knowing if the light would even work anymore if he put it back, I decided to have him finish the installation so that I would at least have something there.
We decided not to move forward with the 4th fan because there were already signs of electrical problems and he wouldn't have to charge me for another install if it didn't work.
The part that really troubles me is that I thought I was paying for a professional electrician with trouble shooting experience and problem solving skills. Instead I got an overpriced installer, who wanted to charge me more to use his brain. I work as a freelancer as well. I understand the concept that people are not paying me to push a button, but to know the correct button to push. Often I get off easy, because everything runs smooth, but when problems arise, that is when I earn my pay. Those are the situations that prove my worth. In this situation I feel that Manny essentially called it in. When the project was no longer a simple instal, and he had to use his knowledge and problem solving skills, he quit. I feel he was more interested in getting his holiday weekend started than proving his worth. When all was said and done, I ended up paying $345 for 2 hours of labor, and a living room that no longer has a light. Overall, I'm disappointed and will not be coming back. I would have given 2 stars, but Manny was a really nice guy. And he did get 2 of the fans up.

Besides being a great person, Manny is also a true pro. Give him a call and you wont be disappointed!! Especially liked the fact he is always available on phone and quickly responds to texts

What a wonderful find!! It's hard to find a reliable handyman that will actually call you back!! I needed a couple of LED lights changed in my kitchen but a lot of places I called would not call back. Manny was quick with his response and came the next day!! AND he was great with my 100 lb pup!! Will be using Manny again in the very near future!! Thanks Manny!!!!

I called Manny needing work on a window that wouldn't open properly and a new faucet installation. He gave me an estimate up front for the faucet and an hourly rate for the window. He was able to come within the hour and completed all work promptly.
