Kathy B.I called Manny to help us hang some blinds. He came out the next day and did a great job! I would highly recommend him.
Manny is a lot of fun! he made the experience more than just a job. Everything he did, I felt he put his best into and everything was cover that we agreed upon. It was the best choice I could have made and probably more affordable than my other options but with better quality. Thanks Manny !!!!
I honestly wish I could leave a better review, because Manny seems like a genuinely nice guy. Unfortunately, that's really the only good thing I can write about this handyman service. The following review is 100% accurate, with absolutely no exaggeration whatsoever. I booked Manny to come do some work around my condo a few days in advance. The night before he was supposed to show up, he texts me saying he might be sending his tech Jordan instead. I replied that I'd rather he did the work himself, because Jordan wasn't the one with the positive Yelp reviews, and he said he'd see what he can do. Manny showed up to my place the next morning with his tech and did a walk-through to gauge the work. This is when one thing after another started going wrong. It literally looked like it was Jordan's first day on the job. I showed him a light fixture in the bathroom that was supposed to be swapped out...totally standard thing, right? I've had dozens of these replaced by handymen before, and they typically take about 10 or 15 minutes each. Jordan literally spent over half an hour in the bathroom, and when I went to check on him, all he had done was remove the old light. The new one wasn't even assembled yet, much less mounted. After that, he moved on to a curtain rod that I needed mounted in the living room. Again, pretty standard...you screw in 3 brackets and place the rod on top. Without exaggeration, he spent 35 minutes trying to drill two holes for the first bracket...the FIRST bracket. When he finally got it up, I noticed the wall around it was crumbling and the holes were gigantic. Come to find out, he used drywall screws to mount the bracket to a plaster wall, and the drill must have gotten away from him a couple of times, because the wall around it was all scratched and nicked. AND the bracket wasn't even straight! How does a handyman ""tech"" not know how to hang curtains??? Where is Manny finding these people? Moving on to Manny himself, he attempted to put up a square-shaped light fixture in my entryway. When I walked over to see how it was going, I realized he's mounting this thing at a 45 degree angle to the wall. Who does that? Why would you not mount a square light parallel to the wall? I literally had to ask him why he was doing that and have him correct it, to which he answered ""yeah that was weird, I don't know why I was doing that."" WHAT? He then moved on to installing my entry door hardware, which was another disaster. It was pretty simple...one new keyed doorknob, and one ""dummy"" doorknob. He installed the keyed knob and I walked over to take a look...I look at the keyhole and realize the thing is mounted upside down. He says something about ""having a tool that will fix that"" and goes on about his business. Eventually he says he's running short on time and has to leave. Not only does he not fix my upside-down knob, he doesn't even mount the other one! So I've basically gone from two functional knobs to one upside-down one and one that's missing altogether. The kit also included a deadbolt that he was supposed to swap for me, but he basically said he can't get the old lock off and gave up on the deadbolt altogether. I was also having him swap an entry knob for me on the kitchen door, which he didn't even do at all. I have included pictures of all these things with the review so people can see the level of service I received. This is the first time in my life that I hired a handyman, and was left with my house in WORSE shape than when he arrived. So he tells me ""I have to go, but I'll have Jordan finish up here."" I told him they can both leave, because there's no way I'm having that guy do anything else in my house. Manny offered to come back next week and finish some things up, but honestly, at this point, I just wanted these guys to stop destroying my house. I texted him the next day and told him his services were no longer needed, and I asked if he could offer me a partial refund because I now had to have someone else come patch these huge holes in my wall that Jordan made while trying to force drywall anchors into my plaster walls, and because he left almost everything either half-done or undone. He responds with ""I can't do that because I gave you a discounted rate already and didn't charge you for electrical."" Again, WHAT? You gave me a discounted rate on not mounting my door hardware, installing an upside-down lock, ruining my wall, and nearly mounting my light fixtures crooked? Gee, thanks. What a horrible experience...this is hands down the worst handyman service I've ever encountered.
Manny is incredible. Super quick, knowledgeable and tidy with all his work. He is able to spot things that I didn't even notice and quickly make the home look way better. Super good guy.
L R.MANNY CAME TO MY RESCUE! I accidentally locked my keys in my car on a residential street. My friend and I were trying for about an hour with a hanger and whatever household instrument we found to get back into the car. Many people drove by and nobody stopped to ask if they could help. Finally, Manny drove by and was the first man to offer assistant. We couldn't believe our luck.....he said he happened to be a locksmith and a handyman. He got our truck open within 2 minutes and did it for free! It is nice to know there are still friendly helping people in the city.
Kevin L.Very bad customer service. I try to reach him several time and sent someone else to come look at my door. He did charge me an estimate fee while most place do it free of charge. I'm never going to use this service again. Just a waste of time and my money. He never did the repair that I requested.
Kyle B.The lock to my door broke and was in dire straights. Found manny on Yelp and thank god. He came over right away and disassembled the lock so I could get into my apartment. Really nice guy, explained everything he was doing.
Called Manny at 730am to see if he could help with my front door handle and lock that had come off. He talked me through it on the phone, asked me to send a couple of pictures just so he could be sure it was as I described so he could indeed help. Once he saw the pictures, he was at our house within 20 minutes. And then he proceeded to fix it in less than 5 minutes. My morning wasn't disrupted at all as Manny fixed my problem before 815. he was so prompt, professional, and helpful - i couldn't speak more highly of him or the experience. i will absolutely use him again for any handyman needs. he is GREAT!!!
I called Manny early this morning because I noticed an attic vent screen needed replacing. He said he would come to my home later in the day and had me text him my information. A couple hours later, Manny contacted me and proposed having another technician, Jordan, do the job, to which I agreed. Jordan contacted me within a 1/2 hour, and I gave him directions to my home.
When Jordan arrived, I showed him the screen I wanted replaced and asked him to look at the remaining screens to check whether any others needed replacement. Fortunately, the other screens were intact for now, and he went to work on the one that required replacement. It was a difficult fix, but the end result was meticulous. Jordan was very nice and personable and cleaned up the site after he was finished.
This was my first experience with Leave it to Manny and given the age of the house, it probably won't be my last.
Bryan K.Manny is honestly one of a kind. Not only is he sweet and genuinely nice, but he's also punctual, considerate, and someone who you truly trust instantly. I work at a hair salon in West Hollywood that is constantly having random necessary repairs and he is so quick to visit us for a consultation and correction. Manny is intelligent and has common sense. He knows what he's doing and does it well, without any BS. In my next endeavors, I cannot wait to reach out to him again for any further work!
