Jeff Cram of Leaf Electrical and his team solved my Tesla EV Charger outlet problem by being very clever and creative, and at a great price..what more can you ask for? Found them here on Nextdoor for work in Carmel Valley - 92130.

I wanted to add a 15-40 NEMA outlet but my breaker box was full. One solution would have been to upgrade from 100A to 200A Breaker box...but my Gas meter is within 36 inches of my electric panel, so this cannot be done without retrenching and moving either the electric or the gas line - which would cost thousands of dollars and months of sdge permissions

So the clever solution was to use a sub panel on inside of my garage. They moved 12 circuits to the sub panel and connected new outlet via breakers in main panel.

Also had them add a second 14-50 outlet in my second garage. I know I likely cannot run both at once but if/when we get a second EV, one could charge at night and one off of my solar in the daytime.

So I am a very happy camper - and cost was HALF the cost of upgrading to a 200A main panel

We had two other electrical companies come out to give us estimates on installing an EV wall connector in the garage. One of the companies would not send a written estimate nor respond to emails while the other company gave us a written estimate that did not match in scope or price what they had said in person. Very frustrated about how hard it was to get a straight answer. I saw some recommendations for Leaf Electrical and decided to give them a call. Jeff returned my call quickly, asked what work needed to be performed, and then took the time right then to fully explain the different options. One phone call with him and I understood better the options than having two companies come out in person. He and his apprentice/helper arrived on time, gave me the options for placement and installation and in an efficient amount of time, installed the charger. It looks great! They also made a point of sweeping up the garage and cleaning up after they were done. Classy! Thank you.

Today I had the pleasure of working with Jeff at Leaf Electrical. The electrical outlets in our built in bbq island stopped working years ago. I've had at-least 4 electricians out without success. Today Jeff and his assistant arrived on time and immediately stated troubleshooting. I was provided updates and estimate for services. I am beyond happy to say Jeff was successful and the refrigerator is cooling. Cannot say enough to convey Jeff is someone you want to make note of for your electrical needs!

I've used Jeff for all electrical work needed for nearly 20 years. He is unquestionably honest and fair. It is very hard to find a trustworthy, straight shooting electrician who will not attempt to overcharge for small jobs, or push unnecessary upgrades over fixing the immediate problem. He has done around a dozen panel upgrades and about as many whole house re-wires, including more than 100 smaller jobs for us over the years. Knowledge, expertise and experience I've not found anywhere else in this industry.
