I'm not sure why Lawrence's team has a bad rep on Yelp. He is our go-to handyman for all kinds of electrical and construction. We used his team in May 2020 to built a beautiful covered extension on our detached studio; the team also knocked off several other projects on our to-do list with quality work.

Just recently had contacted them to do some recessed lighting for me. And he immediately tried to sell me on the fact they do full remodels and other things. Never seemed interested in just coming out to do recessed lighting which was evidenced by the fact he ditched out on two separate appts to give me an estimate after he was already supposed to have been at my house. His partner called me the second time and I never bothered to call them back. At that point I didn't think they had a very good work ethic as seems to be a good assessment based on the reviews here. I don't think they get the fact that I am not going to hire them for a larger job (i.e. remodel) until I know they can complete a smaller job on time and apparently they can't because just getting an estimate didn't happen. They might want to look at their reviews here and rethink their business model.

We had light / ceiling fan fixtures installed, a bathroom exhaust fan and attic fan a couple years ago. When we remodeled our bathroom the bathroom exhaust was never vented outside like they said it did. It just circled our attic and landed 6 feet away from the exhaust fan, and there was a 10 foot circle of black mold that was in the attic insulation. If you do hire these guys - double-check their work!!

Avoid this firm and its unethical owner (Mr. Salisbury) like the plague. We are now having to spend over $2 grand to redo a service upgrade & new panel he botched 3 years ago. To make matters worse, we discovered he didn't work appropriately with PG&E to affix a permanent connection. Instead, he finalized the job with a temporary connector that has corroded, causing frequently flickering lights in our house. More importantly, this condition poses a SERIOUS FIRE HAZARD according to PG&E and our current electrician.
In addition, like the reviewers below note, Lawrence did the following:
1. Abandoned the job without completing portions of the job or finalizing the permit.
2. His workers bullied my wife for payment, without work being done.
3. When called about #2, he argued, swore at, then hung up on my wife.
Yep, Lawrence is a real class act...
I intervened and at least got him to send a subcontractor to close up the walls from a related lighting repair. At the time, glad to have him out of our life....but we now realize how shoddy his work was and nearly cost us our lives in addition to our money.
ALSO, first and only contractor review I have ever posted. We've worked with dozens of them with mixed results, but none have ever been as bad as this.

Ditto on the attitude. On one occasion I talked with Lawrence, he argued with me about the last date his worker was at my house. Surprising to think that he had no clue and yet disagreed with me. On another occasion, when I called to see when the job would be complete (after nothing for a week), he was taken aback that the job was still incomplete. One would think one should know the outstanding jobs on the books and the sites where the employees are! The electricians seemed to be the most competent, but don't hire Lawrence for any other work. The painters were sloppy, careless, painted over switchplates rather than remove them, didn't use tape for straight lines, and be sure to have a plunger handy!

Lawrence did some work for us a couple of years ago. He had the worst attitude of any craftsman I've ever hired. It took several phone calls to get him back here to fix some mistakes. He was rude to me and to my husband. I'm so glad to have Yelp, so I can warn others of this firm's behavior.

For a simple fix to a ceiling fan, Lawrence (the owner) has done the following:
- Abandoned job
- Not returned calls three times after abandoning job
- When forced to return the call by the insurance company, he yelled at me like a lunatic and hung up on me
It does not surprise me that all his other reviews are one star as well. I highly recommend finding a different provider.

Extremely disappointed with these guys. I've made three appointments with them now to look at some electrical sockets in my house which suddenly stopped working, and they've broken all three appointments. In fact, as I'm sitting here typing now, they are missing appointment number three.
For the long, gory details, the first appointment I made for a Monday afternoon. Come Monday, I leave work early to meet them, and they never show. When I call, they apologize saying there was an emergency they needed to take care of. We reschedule for Wednesday afternoon. On Tuesday one of the guys (Bobby was his name) calls me to tell me he can't make it out there that day. When I remind him that my appointment is on Wednesday, *not* Tuesday, he says he'll give me a call back Wednesday morning to confirm the time. I told him I needed a time now, because I have to take time off work to meet them, and he then said that actually Thursday would be better. I explain to him that I have meetings all day Thursday, and that I was free only until noon. So we agree that he will come by Thursday morning at 7am.
I'm, of course, not enthused to be up meeting the electrician on a Thursday morning, but come Thursday @ 7am, you guessed it. He doesn't show. I call the company and leave a message after waiting an hour and receive call-back. I call *again* after another twenty minutes or so and get Lawrence. Lawrence apparently never received the message from Bobby that he would be coming by at 7am, so he apologizes saying that Bobby is ""nowhere near your house right now"" and that he'll call him and work something out (possibly waiving the service fee). About ten minutes later I get a call from the elusive Bobby, who flippantly states that ""yeah, things got crazy yesterday, and I forgot to call you."" Nice. He then asks my availability on Monday - - a whole week since the first cancellation, and more than a week since I first scheduled the appointment. I ask if they can come out this week at all, and he says no, so I told him I'd check my schedule and hung up.
Seriously, if I weren't going through my landlord for these repairs, I would have dropped these guys after the first cancellation. Needless to say, unless you have several hours to waste sitting around playing electrician roulette, avoid these guys.

A few years ago i had a problem with my power. i called a electrical contractor and he came out and gave me a bid to fix my power and it was $3000. and then i called lawrence electric out and lawrence gave me a bid much lower then the the other contractor and did a fine job. Since then i have been using lawrence for all my electrical and general constuction needs. I have also my daughter used him for a very large project on there home and lawrence and his crew were great. I will never call another company again i am very happy with his work and his crew.

Horrible experience. The electrician installed the overhead lights in the wrong places and then blamed us even though we had gone over the plans in detail with him. Another guy installed our pocket door upside down - yes upside down - and then refused to fix the problem (which we had diagnosed; he couldn't figure out what the problem was). Lawrence was whiny and uncooperative and took no responsibility for anything. Anyone, repeat anyone, would be better than Lawrence Electric and Construction.
