An update to the original review I posted on another website after the install in 2020 (which I've included below). I've had my system for 18 months and have had the semi annual services and inspections completed. The tech has always been on time and very professional. The systems have worked perfectly and maintains the set temperatures. I have the ""fan mode"" set to ""circulate"" at 15 minutes each hour to evenly distribute the air throughout the house. This eliminates any hot spots in the summer and also provides additional air filtration. We are completely satisfied with the system, the services, the equipment, and the company.

I was not asked to complete this review as I've experienced in the past with previous businesses I've dealt with, but rather felt other consumers might find it useful when searching for a reliable HVAC company. I needed to replace two 28 year old split system units and over the course of one month I obtained 4 bids from well known HVAC companies in Bakersfield. LaVerne & Son was one those bids and it is very unique in that you're dealing with the owner of family owned business where it's obvious both business and family reputation are at stake. The owner, Rex, prepared the bid for two Trane HVAC split systems and was very responsive to my change requests and made adjustments as necessary offering me more than one option. The installation went smoothly and was performed by his son, who made it clear that our satisfaction was their main objective. The equipment works just as promised and I'm extremely happy with the entire project. Before and after the installation any calls I've made with questions are either immediately addressed or my call is promptly returned. You would not find this type of personal service with a national installer or a Costco special (which I NEVER considered). I highly recommend LaVerne & Son if you need HVAC services or installations. The company provides a quality product with personal & professional services.

Not a pleasure doing business here. felt like the Tech just graduated from Hvac night school and was under pressure to sell a 15k new system. He did not make a recommendation for repairs even though they were possible and pushed a new expensive system. Found another reputable company to replace a system for 6k cheaper. When I told him it was to expensive he pushed financing, no thanks. They charge $100 just to tell me that.

Called two Air Conditioning repair services in Bakersfield, Ca. to repair my less than 3-year-old AC (American Standard). I was required to pay diagnosis fees ($110.00 and $120.00) for both to come out. Both Companies said I needed a new furnace motor and they would have to order. Temperature in Bakersfield was running from 100 to 105 degrees so we would have hoped to have the AC fixed as soon as possible. One company never called me back as to the update as to when they could get a motor as they promised! The other company, who I purchased my complete Solar and HVAC system said they would order but I never heard from them. I called after two days and was told they would call me back that day to let me know the progress as to where the motor was. They NEVER CALLED BACK. The first night was so hot in the house we could not sleep so the second night we stayed in a hotel ($150.00). The next day I found a portable AC unit ($500.00) which may have been the only one in Bakersfield. We used the portable AC unit for three nights! On the second day I decided to try and locate the motor myself. I called another AC repair and they referred me to LaVerne and Son Electrical A/C and Heating! I talked to Sara who was SUPER nice and INFORMATIVE! She sounded like an infield service specialist! She was very understanding of my situation and said she could probably help me get running. I told her the complete story of the other two repair companies and she said they may have the motor but really thought it was a module and NOT the motor! She said she would try and get a repair person out that day but if not first thing the next morning! The next morning at 8AM I receive a call from the repair specialist (Kyle) that he was on his way and would be here in 15 min. When Kyle arrived, he was very pleasant and was informed as to what was going on (Great communications from Sara to Kyle)! It took him 15 min to establish the problem which was NOT THE MOTOR as the other two companies said, but the module just as SARA thought. He went back to his shop to get the module and motor just in case if needed. It is 15-20 minutes one away and he was back round trip in 45 mins just as he said!

If only I would have called LaVerne and Son Electrical A/C and Heating FIRST I could have saved at least $880.00!

The positive of this whole story is one, I now have AC in my house with outside temps forecasted to 106 degrees today, two I now know who NOT TO CALL for HVAC service in Bakersfield, and three the most important I now have a reliable, honest, friendly, and dependable HVAC repair company to call anytime in the future!! GREAT JOB SARA AND KYLE!!!!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

AC went out yesterday at about 4pm right when it was 106 degrees outside. I called them right away and they scheduled me for the next day between 12-4pm. Not ideal, but that's fine I'll work with it. The lady on the phone was very nice and helpful. The next day Kyle called around 1030 saying he's running a bit early and if he could come right now. Hell yeah you can! It's already getting hot. He quickly fixed it, tuned it, and cleaned the coils cause of all the Bakersfield dust. Very reasonable prices and friendly service. Kyle was really nice and helpful with explaining what went wrong. I highly recommend Laverne and Son for your air conditioning needs.
