Recommended Customer Reviews
Jim Kvaal was kind enough to respond to our call in less than an hour on a weekend, because our AC has stopped working in the middle of summer 2022. We are one of his existing customers. Jim thought the issue was a short in the blower motor. While we had to wait for the AC tech to come by the next weekday to take a look at the blower, we appreciated Jim's promptness in responding to our call. He also re-wired a light in the attic while he was up there, and replaced a switch in the living room. I would highly recommend him for any electric repair.
Do you want sub-par work while being charged for the extra time needed to do the work because he's either too scared, too lazy or too much of a wuss to go in the attic to do the job the right and easier way? Well the Jim is your man. I hired him to do work at my house and while the work was completed and is technically ""code compliant"", he spent extra time doing the work and extra materials because he didn't want to go in the attic. He never told me he wasn't going to go in the attic so I never agreed for him to spend extra time doing it a harder way.
He ran the wire in my garage externally on the wall and ceiling in the garage when it would have been better and easier to just feed the wire 2 feet down the wall from the attic and through the attic.to the spot on the ceiling.
I'm extremely happy with Jim's work! He was prompt in replying to my questions. He came by two weeks before Christmas and installed can lights in my living room and he also replaced the fans on my patio which I had no idea that ""Jacobs ladder"" had installed fans on light boxes ?. Anyway, Jim comes out and installs the fans and does a pendant light over the kitchen island with dimmers and the can lights are dimmable too. I would highly recommend him.
Jim Kvaal has done two minor electrical projects for us. He has been responsive, prompt, and efficient. We will definitely use him again, and we highly recommend him.
I want to share my TERRIBLE experience with this company!!!
Jim, the owner, was working at my house for 4 days for a kitchen remodeling project. I had to put a new 220 volt wire for the oven. Long story short - he busted open 2 huge holes in my ceiling from walking in the attic and being careless. The first crash thru my ceiling was in the center of the entry way and the second was in my daughters bedroom causing a huge amount of damage. This all put us 2 days behind schedule due to the large amount of repairs needed to the ceiling. Luckily, I had a sheet rock guy in the house so I stopped my project to fix this major problem. Jim, this electrician, was charging me per hour (like we agreed) but then he brought a guy to help him and charged me for that time as well ($40 per hour extra) - what if he wanted to bring 4-5 guys to help... Would he have changed for them all as well to complete the job he committed to??!?!
Also, after installing the wire from the box to the kitchen he didn't attach it to a breaker!!! Yes , so I have a wire with no power to my kitchen oven!!!!!! I called him to try to reach him and he blocked my number, well not so smart cause I obviously called from a different number and he answered EVERY TIME. When I asked him ""where is the breaker for the oven? Why there is no power?""
His answer was:""power? There is no power, it's an extra charge."" YES YES YES.. you read it right, he put a wire and didn't plug it to a power and asked for extra money...
Last but not least... he was VERY rude and he insulted my father many times for some English mistakes- my dad is not from here.
I can really go on and on but I felt I had to share my horrific experience!!!
Last, he was charging me for the time that he was traveling to me... now, I know that if you start working at a place and then you go for a lunch or need something at Home Depot so yes of course the customer pay for this time but absolutely not for the professional to come to the job, so I asked Jim:"" why do you charge me for this time, so that means that I'm lucky that your last job was 20 minutes from my house? If it was an hour away i need to pay for it?!"" He said yes!!! I called 3 different company and ALL 3 told me it's so wrong!!!
Terrible service, terrible experience!!!
