Kevin with KLM Utilities was a pleasure to work with in upgrading the electrical panel of my home in SF. He provided a competitive price, finished the work quickly, and handled the whole project without missing a beat including city permit and inspection. He is great with updates on progress and answering any questions. It did take a few weeks to get the project on his book, which is a good thing - in this market any good contractor should be busy.

Kevin came in and helped me replace electrical panel in a rental property. He was very thorough and professional. I was not always able to be at the property with him so it was very important to me that we could communicate well. The work required coordinating with my handyman, PG&E, and the Electrical Inspector. Needless to say everything went as smooth as possible. I trust Kevin and would not hesitate to use him again.

Kevin solved three problems within an hour under $120 and was so fair and reasonable in his price, which I was told by other contractors, etc. would cost over $400 to solve just one problem! I appreciate his honesty, kindness and fairness. He was able to come right in and assess each problem and was forthright with his recommendations. Kevin is a super-nice guy. Thorough, intelligent and well-versed in city codes and regulations.

He came to our home and gave us a quote for 5 ceiling fixtures and it was reasonable. The only catch was that he alerted us that we have old gas pipes jutting out of the ceiling that needed to be capped and rewired. So he suggested a plumber that does this and he did the job before Kevin did the lighting installation. Although this was a good long-term safety move it nearly doubled our budget, adding close to $1500 to the bill.

Ultimately, Kevin's crew came in to do the job -- not him. I was surprised by this but I get it that he was busy. So the lead guy in charge did his work on the ceiling and another more junior guy did some wiring work. To keep up to code, a ceiling hallway light had to be completely removed and re-wired. This required another junction box in the closet and some serious re-wiring. The second guy did this alone and only I was there. He never bother to shut down the power in the apartment so guess what? He shocked himself severely while working with live wires! I thought there was an explosion in the kitchen! He was ok, but freaked out. He tried again and shocked himself. It was scary. So I shut down all the power and he finished his job. Wish he had just done that at the beginning.

We live in a 100 year old home that has old fashioned medallions in the ceiling but KLM along with the plumber did a good job of minimizing the cutting into them and the lighting fixtures covered up any holes.

We were very impressed with the work done although the bathroom lighting is problematic. Apparently San Francisco code requires you to get fluorescent (not CFL) or a motion detector. So we got fluorescent and although it does a much better job illuminating the room it is a sickly looking color. Further, it is far too bright in the middle of the night and it hums a little bit. That is frustrating.

I am happy with how the hallway light turned out. It lit up a very dark area and the flush fixture is my favorite. They also installed a switch which was lacking before. Kevin noticed post-bid that we would have to move a small closet light to pass inspection so he did that work for no extra charge. Very, very appreciated.

Kevin did come back and did a walk-through with the inspector who was satisfied.

Although we are just renters we chose a lower-rent place with this lighting project in mind and it was worth it. Our owners agreed to the changes and paid for the majority of the work to be done. We had to play general contractor but it was worth it. Something to keep in mind if you are seeking a new apartment in San Francisco.

I selected KLM Utilities from a pool of 5 qualified contractors to complete electrical work associated with condo conversion requirements. Kevin Main was by far the most professional and knowledgeable contractor. He was familiar with the city's code requirements, completed the work in a timely manner, had competitive prices, did great work, and was courteous, friendly and respectful. We hired him to complete additional electrical work recently and were just as happy with the process and outcome. I would not hesitate to use KLM again in the future.

Kevin is great. He shows up when he says he will, he does the work and cleans up. I had another electrician that started one job but disappeared, Kevin came in finished it without a problem. His rates are reasonable. I have used him a few times and definitely use him again.

My wife and I had a couple of projects that needed doing in our house. Neither job was big. In fact, I had seriously considered doing each of these tasks myself, but I have a rule about DIY home repairs: ""If something flows through it, like electricity or water, make sure you get the help of a professional.""

We called Kevin Main from KLM Utilities, and I cannot praise him (or his work) enough. He is OUTSTANDING.

Typically, the contractor's credo is ""Done right, done fast, done cheap (CHOOSE JUST TWO)."" Kevin is the exception to the rule. He did the job right the first time. He was in and out of our house in a jiffy and sill made us feel like we were his ONLY clients that day. And his service is very reasonably priced.

If I was feeling really (*REALLY) adventurous, and perhaps a little over-ambitious, I might (*MIGHT) have been able to handle these two projects on my own. I'm really happy we chose to get Kevin's help, not only because the work was done to the highest professional standard, but also because I now know who I can call anytime I need to have electrical work done in my home.
