Back in July 2020, we used Kama'aina Electric to replace three hard wired smoke detectors, install a new LED light fixture, replacing our little grey box for our electric water heater, and replacing our bedroom ceiling fan. Ian was very courteous and professional and came by at the scheduled appointment time. He completed all of these tasks in one day and his charge was very reasonable.
We needed Ian's services again in April 2022 when we discovered we had an intermittent electrical problem in our kitchen. It affected our garbage disposal, our kitchen over the sink light, and several electrical outlets all on the same circuit breaker. Ian came out several times to try to troubleshoot the problem but it was difficult because sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. After checking out our circuit breaker box, and the wiring to the affected devices, Ian discovered that we had a slow leak from our refrigerator water line which was causing a short to the junction box which housed these wires. He told us to call the plumber and have him fix the water line which we did. Ian then came back in a few days later and installed a new junction box and new electrical outlet for the garbage disposal. He checked everything out and everything is back to normal operation! Despite coming out several times to our house to try to identify the intermittent problem, Ian only charged us for his last visit and it was a very reasonable charge. We would highly recommend Ian for his easy going personality, his honesty and his persistency in solving our electrical problem.

I needed an electrician to install a 110V outlet in my washer/dryer closet for the replacement LG washer and dryer I just purchased (compact space with failing Bosch Axxis units that run on 220V; the only manufacturer that still runs all units on EU voltage). Ian and Kawika did an awesome job in very little time . Because we had a quality electrical contractor on-site , we asked them to upgrade our exterior lighting which has been a 'pain in the butt' and very scary for so many years. They fixed all and had to deal with messed up conduit and wiring sunk into concrete and major rock formations. They did incredible work in short time and I am so grateful that we have folks in our neighborhood that excel like this.

I am writing another review for them. Is that allowed? They fixed my first problem with a simple light switch and they came back to fix my major issue of changing out my super old electric panel.

First off, they were super understanding about last minute rescheduling because of the storm causing elevator issues in my building. Second, the work they did. I asked them to also change out an outlet in the bathroom and check the kitchen ceiling led light. Ian provided an awesome suggestion for the bathroom to make it less crowded by combining the light switch and outlet into one combo unit which is saving wall space in my tiny bathroom. Came out looking way better. After they replaced the panel, they just put the kitchen light back together and it worked so he didn't try to charge me extra for the kitchen light. We stayed only for about 1 hour out of the 5-6 hours of work so they easily could've said they had to do plenty stuff to make it work but he said they reassembled it and it worked without them doing anything. They're honest when it comes to advice, pricing, everything. Trust means everything to me and I feel so good about them. Ian and Kawika are courteous, punctual, all the good stuff you want in people working on something as critical as your electric wiring! Recommend hands down. Great work, fair price.

Kama'aina Electric was recommended to me by our building manager. Previous electricians I'd worked with over the decades had either retired, or were not interested in smaller condo jobs.

Ian was quick to answer his phone when i called, and an appointment was made. Ian and Kawika arrived on time, which I appreciate. When I told Ian the problem on the phone, he told me what he thought the issue may be, and when they looked at the switch and plugs, he was spot on. Not much more to say other than boom boom boom, the issue was fixed, and the switches improved. Both Ian and Kawika are friendly, easy and comfortable to have in the home. And, as others have stated here, their rate was very fair.

Do I recommend Kama'aina Electric? You betcha!

Ian and Kawika are amazing. We got squeezed in due to a cancellation and they showed up promptly to give an estimate. They were also able to get everything done on my list on the spot which we really appreciated given how busy everyone is right now.

Super friendly local people, they really took the time to answer any questions I had and give any recommendations they had to save us money and get things done correctly.

Everything they did was done perfectly and we have no complaints. Will definitely be contacting them in the future for any other issues we have.
