I contacted Kalahari about installing a whole house surge protector after being unable to schedule the job with my go-to electrician. The business owner, Jan Rossouw, gave me a reasonable estimate for both the surge protector (an Eaton CHSPT2ULTRA) and the install. Jan completed the job two days later while I watched. I appreciated Jan accommodating my odd work schedule and his prompt communication. Mr. Rossouw is now my go-to electrician.

I was using my microwave to heat Sunday (key word) lunch when it went out and took part of the kitchen and hall lights with it. Since the circuit was not tripped and everything else was working I was at a loss for the cause. I called a couple of other electricians who could not promise anything until Monday at the earliest. When I contacted Jan he explained to me that he had two other jobs that day but if I could wait he would get to me. He kept in touch all day and arrived around 7 p.m. He was very personable and listened to my explanation of what happened.
Two areas I am not knowable about are plumbing and electrical. Jan located the problem and correct it within minutes.
It is comforting to know that his work is guaranteed for 5 years and should I have other electrical issues I now have someone I can count on!

I had several companies come out and submit bids on a major upgrade project. Kalahari was the only one that I felt comfortable with -- pricewise and workwise. Their estimate was very thorough where others left areas very vague and generalized but slapped with a large cost to it. Months into their upgrade, I am extremely satisfied with the work that they did. The owners, Jan and Joe, are excellent and efficient professionals, and I would definitely recommend their work to anyone.

I called at 11 pm on Friday on and was surprised when the phone was answered immediately. Jan asked if he needed to come right away which wasn't necessary, but I scheduled an appointment for the the next morning. Upon arrival he identified my problem, fixed it, then showed me what I can do to prevent the same problem from occurring again in another room of the house. He even identified a live line connected to what was once an electric heater in the basement and disconnected it for safety purposes. For me, getting the job done right plus giving me an education on simple maintenance and warning signs to look for is a twofer! If you are looking for quality service and a company that you can rely on for the long haul, I believe that Kalahari Electrical Services is the company for you.

We definitely feel overcharged after paying $200 to replace 2 smoke detectors that took less than 30 minutes to install. A package of 6 is less than $50. Not very customer friendly to do business like this. I will not use again for sure.
