I contacted Kalahari about installing a whole house surge protector after being unable to schedule the job with my go-to electrician. The business owner, Jan Rossouw, gave me a reasonable estimate for both the surge protector (an Eaton CHSPT2ULTRA) and the install. Jan completed the job two days later while I watched. I appreciated Jan accommodating my odd work schedule and his prompt communication. Mr. Rossouw is now my go-to electrician.

I was using my microwave to heat Sunday (key word) lunch when it went out and took part of the kitchen and hall lights with it. Since the circuit was not tripped and everything else was working I was at a loss for the cause. I called a couple of other electricians who could not promise anything until Monday at the earliest. When I contacted Jan he explained to me that he had two other jobs that day but if I could wait he would get to me. He kept in touch all day and arrived around 7 p.m. He was very personable and listened to my explanation of what happened.
Two areas I am not knowable about are plumbing and electrical. Jan located the problem and correct it within minutes.
It is comforting to know that his work is guaranteed for 5 years and should I have other electrical issues I now have someone I can count on!

I had several companies come out and submit bids on a major upgrade project. Kalahari was the only one that I felt comfortable with -- pricewise and workwise. Their estimate was very thorough where others left areas very vague and generalized but slapped with a large cost to it. Months into their upgrade, I am extremely satisfied with the work that they did. The owners, Jan and Joe, are excellent and efficient professionals, and I would definitely recommend their work to anyone.

I have used the excellent services of Jan Rossouw and Kalahari Electric for more than 5 years. They have installed three way switches, ceiling fans, extra light switches and sockets and today installed a new electrical panel with an embedded whole house surge protector. I called at 11 pm on Friday on and was surprised when the phone was answered immediately. Jan asked if he needed to come right away which wasn't necessary, but I scheduled an appointment for the the next morning. Upon arrival he identified my problem, fixed it, then showed me what I can do to prevent the same problem from occurring again in another room of the house. He even identified a live line connected to what was once an electric heater in the basement and disconnected it for safety purposes. For me, getting the job done right plus giving me an education on simple maintenance and warning signs to look for is a twofer! If you are looking for quality service and a company that you can rely on for the long haul, I believe that Kalahari Electrical Services is the company for you.

We definitely feel overcharged after paying $200 to replace 2 smoke detectors that took less than 30 minutes to install. A package of 6 is less than $50. Not very customer friendly to do business like this. I will not use again for sure.

We received a bad inspection report for our panel when we were trying to sell our home. Kalahari came in and went over the report. We looked over and signed a moderately priced quote. Then they set off to do the work to tidy up the panel a bit and swap out breakers. Once into it they decide they would rewire the whole thing. They did not charge extra and were still in and out fast. We have used several other companies but will not ever again.

This company is a big ripoff for a small homeowner...Do not call them unless you are ready to spend a few hundred dollar. I believe the owner came out , charged me for coming only to tell me he will charge another $ 265 before he starts to look at anything

Seriously the best electrician I've ever had. He was wonderful. My power blew out and he came right over in the middle of rush hour traffic while I was trying to get ready to leave for a show- he hung out at the house until it was fixed and even brought us chip clips with the company name on them. My dog LOVED him and so did we. He fixed my door knob to my front door without even asking me and my living room light bulb! Seriously a great guy and a life saver. This company deserves more than 5 stars .

We called this company because they were recommended by Jackson EMC and we needed services immediately. The worker that came out said it wouldn't be over $400 max. They guy came out but didn't have the necessary equipment to fix the issue. He went to home depot and came back with the wrong equipment. The home renter ended up driving the guy back to home depot in his own vehicle. Then he had to drive him to the other side of town to pick up his help. They got back and eventually got the work finished. What we were told was a simple job ended up taking four hours and two trips to the hardware store. Then the guy ended up charging us $650 instead of $400, I don't feel we should have had to pay extra due to his multiple trips to the hardware store or his trip to pick up help especially since our renter drove him. However It was quality work and the job got done.
