This is Michael Sizer's profile on Yelp. I go by John Watson. I entered the field as a part of Michael Sizer's team in 1983 as a helper, progressing to the lead electrician. I earned my contractor's license in the year 1990 under the guidance of Michael and then launching my own company. I have managed my own electrical service since then. Michael has since retired and has been referring his clients to me. With over 26 years of experience in electrical work, I have enjoyed every moment of my career.

We had a short that affected our alarm. We called John around 6 pm. He wasn't able to come, so Chris came instead. He was on his way home after his last job and turned around to come help us. He was incredibly helpful, got things working and offered to complete the job next week to make sure it is all done right.

As I was enjoying a morning cup of coffee (7:45am) looking out backyard while a light rain was coming down, I noticed electrical wireline connecting garage to house was sparking and smoke was emitting from wire. When I went outside to cut branch that was close to make contact with wire, exposed wire popped and more sparks came out. I freaked!
So now that I've set up scenario.... called John Watson and he was very professional and accommodating. I sent him a pic of wire smoking. Fortunately for me he said he would be able to come out same day/afternoon.
He originally gave me around 2:30 appointment window. Then he texted me later that morning and was able to come earlier.
John kept me informed of his schedule and was prompt in keeping appointment. I was given hourly rate and was so relieved to get issue resolved on same day.
In these days it is so hard to find contractors, electricians, repair people who take pride in their professionalism especially in keeping commitments.
I rate John Watson 5 Star for customer service and ability to get the job done.

Ok, I've used him before, the work was fine, projects were very small, and he is a friendly guy. But he consistently has issues with returning calls. He doesn't reply or takes forever to reply. VERY rarely do you hear right back. The Yelp statistic that says he replies in 1 day 100% of the time is incorrect...where did that come from? If you look at his negative reviews, this is the problem with all of them. You cannot plan ahead on important projects with him because of the erratic or nonexistent response times. When you ask to get put on his calendar for your larger project, you either don't hear from him at all or he responds with, ""I can be there tomorrow."" Whoa. Such extremes. It is the big flaw in his practice...his Achilles heel. I am going to look elsewhere now for my kitchen project - why he runs his business like this is puzzling and it is very unprofessional. Surely he knows that. It also feels insulting, like he might be cherrypicking or something. Whatever it is, it's out of control.

John came right out and troubleshooted 2 problem outlets for us. He figured the problem out quickly and fixed it. He and his assistant were kind and polite and fixed our outlets. He pointed us in the right direction to resolve an issue we were having with our ceiling fans.

We called John on Sunday afternoon at 4:00pm because the power in our house keep going out. I did not expect a call back the same day, but by 4:15pm he returned our call (on a Sunday!) He listened, asked questions and had us send a picture of our circuit box and he quickly figured out the problem. He was able to explain the part we needed to replace and gave my husband directions on how he could do this himself. My husband followed his directions and the problem is solved!!!! He didn't charge us anything! Mr. Watson is very knowledgeable and professional. I so appreciate his help and for future electrical issues we will definitely call him.

John was amazing.

My recessed lights turned off after I swapped some outlets out. I thought I blew something out. John spent 30 minutes on the phone with me trying to help me solve my problem so he would not need to come by and charge me. I took his advice and did what I thought was right and sent him pictures and he said I was doing everything wrong.

He came by between a project around 6 pm at night. He spent an hour teaching me how to replace outlets and switches and not electrocute myself in the process. Then he went around my house trying to solve my recess light problem. Took awhile and ended up finding out it was a completely different outlet that I installed wrong that caused it. He also took a look at my circuit breaker box to make sure my house was rewired correctly.

His service was top notch and I was very thankful he took the time to teach me how to do things. Charged me $140 for the hour he came, which is really reasonable after I called around to different people. Well worth it to solve my problem and get some much needed knowledge.

I called John because my power was flickering. He came to the rescue within a few hours and swiftly deduced that the problem was most likely with the power company. He called them on my behalf and amazingly they showed up while we were still chatting. John explained the situation to the employee who checked out a few of the connections. The following morning the power co tested the line and confirmed the power was indeed flickering outside my home within their lines. After they replaced/tightened several connections the problem was resolved.

John refused to accept any payment for his service call -- or reward for his staring role in fixing the problem. I will definitely call him again if the need for an electrician should arise!

During the last couple of months, our home had some power issues in both our restrooms and the Master Bedroom. John was able to analyze and diagnosis the problem. It was quite difficult to find.
