Well I always turn to Yelp and I thought the feedback on John as a local electrician sounded great.
We set an appt for 5pm and he didn't show until 6:10. Granted he called and let me know he would be late but it still was annoying as I had left work early.
A month later, called him again to install a light in the bathroom. He said he had an 8:30am appt so he would be at my house at 9:30 to 10:00. When he didn't show up, I left a message for him at 10:30 and 11:30 but a day later he still hasn't shown up or even bothered to return my calls.

So he might do great work, I wouldn't know but he would have to actually show up to find that out. Perhaps he should give a couple hour windows since he can't make it on time. Not calling back though is unprofessional.

I was looking for an electrician to help me solve a mysterious electrical problem with my pool pump. I saw the great things people had to say about John, so I gave him a call. I'm sure John is a great electrician, but, more importantly, he's a solid guy with integrity beyond measure. John spent about 20 minutes on the phone with me to troubleshoot my problem. He could have (and most others would have) said he couldn't diagnose my problem without being on site, but John took the time to diagnose the problem and let me know that him coming out to see the pump (and charging me for it) wasn't going to change the fact that I likely needed a new pump. He could have charged me for a service call but didn't. He could have dismissed me but didn't. It was like talking to a friend who happens to be an electrician! He'll definitely be my first call next time I need an electrician.

Well thanks to fellow yelpers I found a wonderful and friendly electrical company. Called Monday morning and they had someone in my home about 45 min. later and they sent a nice guy named Chris. What a great experience. Thanks John W.

The lovely previous inhabitants of my place left a lot of bootleg electrical work. Who decides to DIY with electrical wiring? Bad idea. I was left to fix this mess with a two week deadline. I didn't have time to get a bunch of quotes but I think John's rate was competitive. He came first to give me an estimate and get a sense of the work then returned on a Saturday to perform the work with his assistant. He took out all the illegal wiring and brought everything up to Code on the main electrical panel. He was very polite and explained all the work. He even found some dangerous wiring that the initial home inspector missed. The City inspector passed all the work and now won't be fining me for all the wacky wiring. Thanks John!

John Watson is great!
I was doing my own electrical repairs in my kitchen and messed everything up. I called John and he come over the same day to help me out of the snafu I created. Not only did he fix the problem he took the time to educate me about some wiring basics - which I much appreciated. I called him a second time for another silly problem and he talked the problem out over the phone with me. He is alway on time and polite, and also has a good sense of humor.

I will certainly be calling John (and referring him to friends) in the future for electrical issues.

A few months ago, a few of the exterior lights and outlets in the back of my building went out. Since this happened shortly after I had my building repiped and was confined to the back of the building, I thought it might have been something the plumbers did.

John came out with his assistant and fixed everything in a couple of hours and sent me an invoice electronically promptly.

He was courteous on the phone and answered all my questions. Additionally, I was planning on some renovations in the future and had questions about my electrical needs and he was kind enough to give me his opinion and advice on that for no charge. (Obviously, if I had asked him for a full electrical schema, that would not have been free.)

At the time, he charged $150/hr because it's him + a helper and he charges by the hour (no minimum). But if he doesn't need the helper, then he won't charge for him. [$150/hr sounds steep, but other places charge $75/hr for one person + travel, so this is pretty typical. Give him a call to verify rates as they may have changed since then.]

I recommend anybody that has electrical problem to call him. He fixed our garage power outage in 10 minutes on Sunday evening. We appreciate his service, to have him come over on Sunday and fix it in a quick is wonderful. Thanks John. We pass ur business cards on to ur neighbors.

Can't vouch for the service but I do want to give a positive review as to the integrity of the business. As noted by other yelpers the business is now runned by John Watson. After I told him my problem, he felt that he may be a waste of time and cost since he didn't believe I was what he was looking for (he's an electrician - I needed an AC/Heating technician). So yeah to honesty and not wasting my time or money.
