This is the Yelp page of Michael Sizer. My name is John Watson. I started my career as a part of Michael Sizer's team back in 1983 as a helper, working my way up to the top electrician. I earned my contractor's certification during 1990 while employed by Michael and then venturing out on my own. I have been operating my own company since then. Michael has retired and continues to be directing his clients to my services. With over 26 years of experience in electrical work, I have loved each moment of this journey.

EDIT: John contacted me and apologized for not returning my two calls when I needed a light fixture changed. I will use them again in the future because prior to my calling for the light fixture, they did a great job re-wiring my 1926 house and they were extremely courteous. They made me feel safe in my home again.

John was the second electrician I called after the first one told me I needed to replace my entire fuse box, and that it would cost me $2,400 to do so. He talked to me about the issue I was having for about 10 minutes on the phone and was extremely helpful and informative. When I asked him if he could send someone out he asked where I was and he just happened to be only 10 minutes from my house. He came right over, looked at everything and knowing that someone had quoted me $2,400 to replace the fuse box then told me that all I needed was a main breaker replacement which would cost me roughly $300. This is why you always get multiple quotes. Great guy, honest business owner and knowledgeable as hell. Thanks, John.

I'm surprised to see a bad review of this wonderful electrician. I think yelpers need to allow at least a little room for the human factor! He's helped me and my husband twice. Once over the phone free of charge and again yesterday when he installed three new light fixtures at what I thought was an excellent price. We're having him come back again soon to install a power outlet in the bedroom and remove an old ugly one that's up by the ceiling for some reason. I saw that one yelper suspects that all Johns good reviews are written by his friends, that's quite a conspiracy theory! Well, I promise me and my husband never met this guy before he came to our house yesterday!

Helped me over the phone over Memorial Day weekend! Excellent customer service and will contact and use again!

My review is based on a phone call and I do not know John Personally. I originally called john after an ""Electrician""(vulture) wanted to charge me a lot of money. This man was in my house for 5 mins before wanting to charge me $400 to search for the origin of my electrical issue which I'm sure he had some idea where it started. I said no thank you, searched online and found John. I called him and to my surprise, he was trying to help me trouble shoot on the phone. I had read the reviews on yelp and thought he probably knows these people...until I experienced the same situation lol. He attempted to help me over the phone after telling him about my experience with the ""other guy"". Anyway he stayed on the phone with me for about 45 mins, this is unheard of these days. He got me started on my project but I still had to bring in a friend from work to continue trouble shooting. He didn't have the parts but left it easy enough for me to finish the job. I finished the job by installing two GFI outlets. The point of my review, John is a rare find these days. He seems to really love his craft, cares about his customers and makes sure they are satisfied with the end result. I will use or recommend him for future electrical issues.
UPDATE 2017- Recently I had to call Mr. Watson for another electrical issue. He came out, did some trouble shooting and repaired my electrical problem. While he was trouble shooting, he explained his method to detect the origin of the problem and along the way he also educated me on electrical basics. My issue was a circuit breaker so he switched it out and so far so good.

We had a short that affected our alarm. We called John around 6 pm. He wasn't able to come, so Chris came instead. He was on his way home after his last job and turned around to come help us. He was incredibly helpful, got things working and offered to complete the job next week to make sure it is all done right.
We'll use him for all our future jobs.

As I was enjoying a morning cup of coffee (7:45am) looking out backyard while a light rain was coming down, I noticed electrical wireline connecting garage to house was sparking and smoke was emitting from wire. When I went outside to cut branch that was close to make contact with wire, exposed wire popped and more sparks came out. I freaked!
So now that I've set up scenario.... called John Watson and he was very professional and accommodating. I sent him a pic of wire smoking. Fortunately for me he said he would be able to come out same day/afternoon.
He originally gave me around 2:30 appointment window. Then he texted me later that morning and was able to come earlier.
John kept me informed of his schedule and was prompt in keeping appointment. I was given hourly rate and was so relieved to get issue resolved on same day.
In these days it is so hard to find contractors, electricians, repair people who take pride in their professionalism especially in keeping commitments.
I rate John Watson 5 Star for customer service and ability to get the job done.

Ok, I've used him before, the work was fine, projects were very small, and he is a friendly guy. But he consistently has issues with returning calls. He doesn't reply or takes forever to reply. VERY rarely do you hear right back. The Yelp statistic that says he replies in 1 day 100% of the time is incorrect...where did that come from? If you look at his negative reviews, this is the problem with all of them. You cannot plan ahead on important projects with him because of the erratic or nonexistent response times. When you ask to get put on his calendar for your larger project, you either don't hear from him at all or he responds with, ""I can be there tomorrow."" Whoa. Such extremes. It is the big flaw in his practice...his Achilles heel. I am going to look elsewhere now for my kitchen project - why he runs his business like this is puzzling and it is very unprofessional. Surely he knows that. It also feels insulting, like he might be cherrypicking or something. Whatever it is, it's out of control.

John came right out and troubleshooted 2 problem outlets for us. He figured the problem out quickly and fixed it. He and his assistant were kind and polite and fixed our outlets. He pointed us in the right direction to resolve an issue we were having with our ceiling fans.
I would definitely call him again for any future electrical needs.

Called John on a Sunday and he was able to make it out in a few hours. We had some previous work done in our house that messed up some outlets in the living and dining room. He took a look at the work, did some trouble shooting, and solved the issue- ON A SUNDAY! Thanks for the work, John.
