I needed a weatherproof switch replaced on my irrigation pump. What sloppy work I found. I noticed the switch wasn't sealed well. There was a gap increasing in size from the top to the bottom of the switch, this isn't going to keep the weather out. The switch cover plate had a mixture of screws used only 2 of the 4 were proper the others were wood and deck screws. New switches come with the correct new screws for installation. Well I removed them the cover plate and then the switch. What I found was the switch box needed to be replaced. In time the box had corroded at the bottom and there really isn't anything to bolt the switch or the cover to. How was that not noticed? The first switch offered was hardly appropriate for outdoor use it was designed for interior use like in your living room. After rummaging around in his truck the electrician found another switch. He never suggested replacing the switch box it was obvious it was damaged. The new switch was replaced backwards. In the on position it was really off and off was really on. Electric switches are clearly labeled which side is for the line and which for the load, how was this not noticed? Attention to detail is rather important when working with electricity and this man is not detail oriented or just plain careless. Since I had to re-do the work I feel the $85 I paid for his labor was wasted money. Call someone else who cares about your safety, and their quality of work.
