I could not get past the application form. I found out by trial and error (very crude, unnecessary, and irritating) that the application must be completed in its entirety in one sitting or all data is lost and that the button at the bottom of the section labelled return to top means save that section in order to go to the next. When I actually got a live human being on the phone I asked what advantage there is to not saving the data and her answer was there is no advantage or disadvantage-that's just the way it is, as if being totally dysfunctional were somehow perfectly normal. I tried repeatedly to complete the form and got bumped out repeatedly for ""system error,"" for which I was supposed to contact the system administrator. Another live human being actually empathized in a fashion and when I described the problems, laughed and said ""That's Oracle,"" again as if that were enough explanation. I pushed my luck to ask if there might be a statement in instructions to say it must be done in one sitting. I did not attempt to address the save button disguised as return to top, figuring I was really pressing my luck already. It is bad enough to waste anyone's time and to lead a person looking for a job down the garden path to nothing is really abusive.

Jacksonville Electric Authority is the WORST in customer service. I wish there was an agency to report them to for improper business practices. But they are a monopoly and they can abuse customers without any recourse.

JEA claims to be an independent authority, but the truth is that they are a bureaucratic government monopoly. A good example is an area light for which I was charged in error. The area light belonged to my neighbor. JEA charged her as well. When I called customer service to report the error, the answer amounted to ""We don't care."" When I went to JEA in person, they still refused to fix the problem. When I hired a lawyer, they finally removed the area light from my billing statement. But they didn't reimburse me for the false charges or the cost of my lawyer. When it went to court, the city had the case dismissed because you can't sue the government. If I had an alternative, I would switch from JEA. They are terrible and should be privatized. At least then we could sue them when they screw up.
