Founded in 1949 by Tennis and Alma Jackson, and has been a trusted provider of electric and security services in the surrounding area for over 65 years. Residential and commercial security services were launched as part of the electrical services in the early 1950s.

The year 1972 saw Chuck Turner as a partner of Jackson Electric and developed intrusion detection design and setup. In 1978 the separation of the firm's protection offerings from the power division, and in the following year it became Jackson Security Services. That same year, JSS purchased a local security firm in Tuscaloosa.

During 1988, Chuck Turner took ownership of both the electrical and safety divisions and merged the companies. During 1992, Turner's son, Brad was named to the role of Vice President of Jackson Security Services, and the year 2000, Jim Essary was brought on as the VP and General Manager.

During 2014, Jackson Electric Services joined forces with a similar company in the local region. Today, Jackson Security Services continues its focus to service. Jim Essary continues to lead the company as the VP and General Manager.
