Founded in 1949 by the Jackson family, and has been a trusted provider of electric and safety solutions in the West Alabama region for over 65 years. Business and home security solutions were first introduced as part of the electric company in the early 1950s.

The year 1972 saw Chuck Turner join as a co-owner of the electric company and expanded security system design and setup. In 1978 the division of the firm's protection offerings from the electric side, and in 1982 it became JSS. In that same year, JSS took over a local security firm in Tuscaloosa.

The year 1988 saw, Chuck Turner acquired both the electrical and security services and integrated the companies. During 1992, his son, Brad Turner was appointed to the role of Vice President of Jackson Security Services, and in 2000, Essary was hired as the General Manager and Vice President.

In 2014, Jackson Electric Services merged with a comparable firm in the Tuscaloosa vicinity. Currently, Jackson Security Services remains its focus to excellence. Jim Essary remains at the helm the company as its General Manager and VP.
