I'm sorry it's taken me this long (3.5 years) to get around to reviewing Intrinsic here on Yelp. On the other hand, I can tell you that we have not had one problem with any of the rewiring or new fixture installations that David and his crew did for us, at the end of January 2014. Which is also a useful kind of feedback to get, with something as crucial and safety-related as electricity.
When we called Intrinsic, w were desperate to have our whole house (built 1942) rewired up to code in a big hurry. I had changed home insurance co's. I'd been solicited & then suckered by Hartford, a company that works with AARP to offer its members ""better rates"". Although I gave Hartford the info that we had ""original"" wiring from 1942 in a total of 3 different ways at the time they wrote the policy, and they took our money - a month later, Hartford cancelled the policy, for NOT having modern wiring! So, we were potentially in trouble, because Hartford also went out of their way to inform our mortgage company that our house was now ""uninsured"". We quickly found an insurance company that was willing to insure us right away, but with a one-month ""good faith grace period"" in which to get the entire ""up to code"" job done.
MIraculously, we found David, and he came through for us with flying colors. He gave us an estimate that was very reasonable, was able to start the job within a week, and in another 2 weeks, the entire job was complete, and passed city inspection easily. Along the way, he put in several new fixtures that we had always needed in very dark spots, discovered that a bathroom fan-vent was wrongly installed and replaced all the parts, dealt with the complication of all our outer walls already having insulation in them, and he and both his crew members even went out of their way to reassure and make friends with my nervous, barky young dog.
David knows everything about electricity, and is totally up to speed on ""code"". He helped us choose appropriate fixtures, advised us about various options, and was on hand some part of every day to make sure all was moving along as planned. We were always informed in advance, of which part of the house was going to be the work site, so that we were always prepared and nothing inconvenient ever sprung on us. David is a perfectionist, and did not consider the job complete until every last switch and light bulb was working just right.
So, well within the 30 day grace period, we were able to provide the necessary documentation to our new insurance agent, so that the new insuring company could get confirmation that all was complete. The final cost of the job was somewhat higher than the estimate, which did complicate our financial lives for a while. But considering the quality of the work that was done, and the lighting improvements made along the way which have greatly increased our enjoyment of the house, I would say that $15K, given the various structural complications, the additional fixtures we added, and size of house (1100 sq.ft), was not out of line for a full house rewiring, and the very excellent quality of the work done, from start to finish.

David and the Intrinsic Electric team did an absolutely perfect job. They coordinated everything perfectly, were always punctual and hard working, performing a result well beyond my expectations. The price was right, and I got top-notch service. I especially liked that David took the time to explain what he was doing. Electrical work can be complicated, and he took the time and had the patience to make sure I understood the details behind the work and result. David knows the code inside and out, and not only ensures everything is done to spec, but goes above and beyond to make sure you make the right choices to have a safe and reliable result.

This small business deserves an A+. David and Mike were excellent; friendly and SUPER knowledgeable. We consider them craftsman - stellar service, excellent knowledge base. We purchased our 1922 bungalow last year and it needs so much work. David was patient and offered excellent advice and guidance as to what to do first. We had other electricians come over to do estimates - but it was David who provided answered all of our questions (we know nothing about electrical and we probably were asking silly questions ) but David was super patient and took the time to walk us through everything. We plan to bring him back when we know what our next steps on to resurrect this little old home!!

David is professional, honest, and pleasure to have in your house. He has been very patient with the ongoing updates to our 1930's-era home, returning several times over the last month to hook up electrical as the general construction has been completed. I feel safer in my home now that he has replaced the ancient wiring. I highly recommend David and Instrinsic Electric.

I am a first-time homeowner (i.e. Rookie), the house we purchased was built in 1927, a lot for a rookie to handle. Hiring and entrusting my home to a stranger? Very nervous making. Finding Intrinsic Electric, JACKPOT!!!

5 stars for David and Joel. Both of these men are committed to all the best qualities of being courteous, professional and accommodating to their customers.

Joel pointed out some issues that needed addressing and instead of ""winging it"" he got on his phone with some colleagues (one came by in person to consult) who knew the answers and double checked with at least one county inspector for verification. Keeping me from having to deal with any later headaches or repercussions. Doing it right the first time! I did only get to see Joel in action for one day but it was a great first impression. David was able to find a stand in worker (Lauren - He gets a 5 as well) who was every bit as friendly, knowledgeable and professional.

David is a polite, professional, patient, thorough, knowledgeable, expert! David listens well and makes educated recommendations. He showed as much concern for my project and my home as I do. My wife and I changed our minds on a couple of line items and David was happy to accommodate the changes we made. Through out the entire process he made time to answer any questions and explain anything I didn't understand. This was especially true when relating to billing and invoicing. David always made himself available to me whenever he could, be it phone, email or in person. He went above and beyond to help me with my electrical needs.

The icing on the cake is, we passed our electrical permit inspection with glowing approval. The inspector was very impressed with the work he looked at.

The Intrinsic Electric business card has a permanent home in my phone book.

David and Joel are the best! They helped my husband and I deal with 80 years of accumulated wiring in our home and led us through a full upgrade of our system. Why we loved working with these guys: 1) They know their stuff. Totally professional and knowledgable, especially regarding some of the quirks of our 1929 home. They also dealt with permits and inspections, which was a huge help to us newbies. 2) Great communication. David or Joel would update us via email or phone regularly just to let us know where they were in the process. I could always get a hold of them with questions, and they returned our calls and emails quickly. 3) They go above and beyond. When some of the electrical work resulted in a loss of hot water in our house, David and Joel came back to our house, even before we knew the cause of the issue. They stayed after hours and fixed the problem immediately, keeping us updated the entire time. 4) Very competitive rates. Worlds better than most of the contractors we spoke to. Great guys, great work. Highly recommend!

Our Fairfax home was built in 1953, when Sir Francis Drake was a dirt road. There is a mishmash of wiring. None of the older receptacles were grounded. David added new grounded circuits where needed after thoroughly inspecting the entire electrical system. He showed me areas that can be improved in the future, and did not try to talk us into major rewiring. The cost of the project was very reasonable. He is also very much a gentleman, and very easy to work with.

David and crew were supremely professional in the two jobs they did for us, from digging a trench for a new circuit to installing motion activated security lights over the garage (and syncing it with the porch light). Would recommend them without hesitation.
