I was loosing power to majority of my home and reached out to Independent Electric. When I called I got in contact with Steve and he was great, he made it to the house same day. He was extremely reliable, knowledgeable, and easy to communicate with. His work quality is something you don't find now days. I will definitely be calling Independent Electric for my electrical needs

I hate leaving bad reviews, but what happened after Independent Electric installed an EV charger at my house could've been dangerous.

I contracted Independent Electric to install a home EV charger back in July 202. I had no issues for 15 months -- I even referred them to family after.

In late October 2022, my wall charger suddenly stopped working. Inside the junction box, a wire had overheated and melted its surroundings (see the pics below).

I called the electrician from Independent Electric who told me he wasn't sure what the issue could've been but offered to repair it (not for free -- I was outside the 1yr warranty).

After I told him I wanted to get a second opinion and have another pro check his work, he texted me that they were suddenly booked out for 3 weeks and recommended I get someone else to work on it. Not exactly white glove customer treatment.

I ended up going with Bonney -- the new electrician said that while Independent Electric's work was spec'd correctly and what happened was likely a fluke, he did say that:

- My breaker connected to the EV charging never tripped when it should have
- The wire that had melted was not particularly durable (the new electrician used a more durable wire)

The job that Bonney did looks far more professional and reassuring. This is a classic ""you get what you pay for"" -- you might save a couple of hundred dollars with Independent Electric, but you're not getting the best job done. Up to you if you want to risk that with high-voltage electricity.

I would definitely recommend Independent Electric to anyone who needs electrical work done. Steve came out and he was on time. He was also very professional and when he came across a problem, he was able to solve it. I'm definitely going to be using Steve in the future.

Saturday night, one day before leaving on vacation and we were having electrical issues. I called Independent Electric and Steve was able to walk me through the issue over the phone. Thankfully it was an easy fix (sucks to be an idiot when it comes to this stuff). Fast response, professional and helpful.

I am most pleased with the work done by Independent Electric installing a sub panel for my electric kiln. Steve was personable and professional and was very prompt in responding to my texts. He was able to give me an estimate from pictures I sent. Which was totally awesome because I didn't have to take time off work to schedule an appointment for an estimate. I contacted Independent Electric on a Saturday and the work was started and finished the following Wednesday. I can start firing stuff this weekend! The work itself was excellent and professionally done. And everything was put back and the job site was cleaned up. I would definitely use Independent Electric in the future!

I have never used Independent Electric before and like to support small local businesses. I do NOT recommend them. I did not appreciate being insulted or told I did not hear what I was told.

I am an experienced property manager of 20+ years. I contacted Steven, who seems to be the owner because his cell phone is the only number listed on the website,

We made an arrangement for a one hour window and the phone call 1/2 hour prior to his arrival so that I could meet him at the location. When he hadn't arrived and hadn't called I contacted him. I was told he gave a 1-1/2 hour window and I must not have heard this because I was so ""fixated"" on the work that needed to be done.

Needless to say, I canceled the job. I intend to use an electrician who has been referred to me instead of trying to support this small business.

Steve is the epitome of an ideal pro: courteous, knowledgeable, efficient and patient with a clueless client. I wanted to replace two two-bulb flourescent kitchen ceiling fixtures with an LED ones. The old fixtures were embedded in a 48"" x 48"" cavity, four inches deep in the ceiling. After consulting with the Home Depot lighting expert, I bought two 48"" x 24"" fixtures he said will fit in the cavity. Well it didn't. Steve offered a couple of suggestions, one of which was he will find the right fixtures that would work. He responded a couple of days later with the new fixtures. They are very modern-looking 24"" fixtures that fit the cavity perfectly, and, despite the smaller size, are brighter than the old ones. Steve, mercifully ignored our cluttered home, came an installed them in short time, even answered a few questions I had about other electrical matters. My wife and I are very happy with the new fixture. Six stars if I could give them.

I just had the best repair experience with Steve from Independent Electric. It doesn't get any better than this!

Backstory: I ran into an electrical issue on Saturday at a house I am fixing up to sell and wasn't sure where to start. I found Independent on Yelp and Steve promptly called me back. He was very professional and offered me a quote after I texted a couple pictures over. I left a key in a lockbox so that he could come by Monday morning, and he had everything fixed up before 9am. Great value, and stellar communication/service. I wish the interactions I had with all the other contractors I'm working with were this smooth! I'll definitely be calling Steve again.
