I had researched and received quotes from 6 different solar companies. One of which was Ilum Solar. From the very start Tyler Bond was professional and very responsive to my many questions and changes in solar plans. Their price was very competitive and equipment offered was superior to those offered by the others I talked to in the same price range. All of those I had spoken with talked about a 3 month install process. With Ilum Solar I went from quote to install in less that a month, wow! I have no doubt the install will go as well as the purchase process. I want to thank Tyler and his team for being so professional, responsive and quick.

As anyone who has investigated Solar probably realizes, there are lots of competing companies out there and a lot of technical information to sort through in understanding what your options are. Ilum was awesome in being responsive and informative with every question I had. They were also aggressive on pricing from the beginning offering not only the best price, but also some of the best equipment available with Sunpower panels.

Tyler and the team showed up on time and were very gracious with their time in answering my questions. They finished the whole installation in one day and did an awesome job ensuring the installation was clean. In addition to the panels there is a lot of conduit and electrical panel installations on the side of the house, but all of it looks incredible professionally done.

Outstanding team, couldn't be happier with their work.

I recently had Ilum Solar add 3.8 kW of solar panels to our roof, complementing the 4.8 kW system we had installed by a different company 12 years ago. In addition, we wanted a home battery system installed. Ilum recommended the Sonnen battery and we went with the Eco10 product. Bottom line: Ilum did a great job. They did the work very quickly and very professionally. They communicated with us regularly before, during, and after completion of the work. The solar panels had a problem a few days after installation due to heavy rains. Ilum dispatched someone the day after I called to fix the problem, and they assured us it will not happen again. We've had a number of questions about how to optimize the settings on our Sonnen battery, and Ilum has been very helpful in getting the questions answered. I recommend this company very highly.

These are great guys. I was their first customer back in 2016 and they have been a pleasure to work with since day 1. Robert answers calls and texts very promptly and when there's an issue (not their fault BTW) they are here fixing it within a few days.

The Ilum install team was very professional. I especially appreciated their electrician who was very patient with me - I was very concerned with the aesthetics of the installation (including all the subpanels and conduit). Out of the various installers they use, Ilum is one of their favorites to work with. He and many of his coworkers feel that they do a ""meticulous & superb"" job at installing their systems and make the process very smooth. Methinks not.

Everything had been on-track. Last minute preparations were being made. The roofer was ready to meet with Illum on-site on Monday; Ilum confirmed they would be there.

Then suddenly, THE DAY BEFORE the project was to begin -- which was four months after the contracts were signed -- Robert from Illum writes, ""I regret to inform you that, I am unable to perform the work we had planned.""

This left me and the roofing guy totally in a lurch, with no time to adjust. (The roofer needed the solar company there to install stanchions / standoffs for the solar panels, which they would then roof around.) I asked if they could at least meet their commitment to do that part. No dice, only ""Unfortunately we will not be able to be the Installer for your project. A lot has changed internally with my company since we originally talked in January.""

No effort was made to assist in any transition, or to find another solar company, or to make consolations for the broken contract, nada.

This wasn't even the first hint at problems with this provider. This project was scheduled four months prior. Yet in that time no plans were drawn up, no permits acquired. Even if they weren't MIA, the project would have been delayed for no reason.

So, take all the quotes above and reverse them to get a pretty good idea of what our experience was like with Ilum Solar. Seeing how easily this company reneges on major commitments, I would advise you to take your solar business elsewhere.

I would recommend working with Ilum Solar without hesitation. Despite having many local installers to choose from, we ultimately decided to use Ilum Solar out of Sacramento because this business showed the ability to work with a tight deadline before year end and Robert's bid was by far the most budget friendly with all American made products. Robert is always response via text, email or phone and has gone to extra mile to ensure any follow-up request has been address to our satisfaction.

I got in contact with illum through a third party bid aggregator and am very happy with the result. From start to ""panel's on roof"" was less than 3 weeks! I spent more time waiting for inspections and the NEM agreement than for illum. Throughout they always responded to my questions/concerns within a few hours and had someone come out to troubleshoot monitoring issues multiple times until they got it up.
