I have had Ideal Electric out for two separate projects, the first to hard wire 4 new ceiling fans and to trouble shoot a dead outlet in my laundry room. He and an assistant came promptly when we'd agreed and got right to work. Fans are wonderful and the minimal intrusions into the walls were nicely repaired. Once painted can't tell where they were. Andy also noted some poor work done by previous owners which left dangling live wires within the walls. He showed me the wires and recommended a course of action to correct. He did some sleuthing on some other oddities in the attic at no extra charge and we worked out a plan for future fixes.

Second project was replacing hanging outdoor lights, installation of a new microwave, and updating the electric panel to service the microwave properly as previous owners in a remodel had entire kitchen and living room on a single breaker.

Both times he and his crew were prompt, clean, courteous and did excellent work. I would highly recommend Andy and Ideal Electric.

No, I am not your competitor. I met with you at my rental property off 221 Westlake Dr. in San Marcos on 2/16/2022 since my patio outlet had no power. You came in and fixed a loose wire in the first floor bathroom which enabled the power on the patio outlet. I paid you right after your repair was done. On 2/17/2022, I sent you an email (from my work email) requesting a receipt but you didn't reply. I thought you might be busy and forgot it, so I sent a second reminder email on 2/28 and asked you why you didn't want to send me the receipt and you kept ignoring my email. I think you just don't care to spend 10 minutes to email me the receipt. I was your customer then but won't be anymore. I gave honest review about the poor customer service and I believe all the yelp reviews here are honest.

I have meant to write this review for a few months, Andy was the best, nicest and affordable electrician. He came out same day to fix my moms trouble with her outlets. He was like a Dr. of electricity!! Thank you Andy for coming to the rescue I would without a doubt hire you again and recommend you!!

I called them on Saturday at 6:30 PM, they offered to come out that night. But we both decided to wait till Sunday.

Andy came out. He was punctual and prompt. Polite and professional.

He gave us an estimate and did not exceed it. He fixed our issue. And even explained why were having an issue.

Andy from Ideal Electric was extremely quick to respond and provide the dryer hookup. He changed our 220 volt outlet so we could use the same plug configuration we used at our other house. I highly recommend him! Very pleasant.

Horrible experience! Hired Andy to install electrical panel for my hot tub. He left a huge mess behind including a bottle of urine.

Andy, the owner of the company, came out and gave me an estimate. We thoroughly discussed how the wiring in my husbands office needed to be rewired. He said, it would be new wiring with Romex. It would be run, first, through the attic, then through the wall, (with minimal damage to repair)to the ceiling beam where an old, non working ceiling fan was.

When his electrician came out, the job was not explained to him. So, I attempted to explain it. He barely spoke or understood English. Andy came over, and I thought all was well. He said the job would be just as we discussed and agreed to. When Andy told me there wasn't a remote control for the ceiling fan, I was confused as to why they couldn't use the existing or new light switch, since they were running ""new wiring."" He offered to have his wife pick up a universal remote. So, I said okay.

When she showed up with the remote, she also asked for the payment in full, (for the entire job)even though the job wasn't completed. I was hesitant, but, because I went through Home Advisor, I was too trusting.

Bottom line is, there was no new wiring as promised and agreed to. It was just a simple fan installation, to the old, bad wiring already there. I could have saved over a $150. by just having the handyman who I hired to install a window blind at the same time, do.

I was ripped off, taken advantage of, and completely lied to! Instead of the $220. rewiring job I was promised, it cost me an additional, $45. for the universal remote (the most expensive available). This company does not do what they promise to do, even when they come out, it's discussed, and agreed upon. Maybe he thought that because I am a woman, I didn't know what I was talking about. He was wrong. I used to be one of the managers of a 126 unit apartment complex. One that was built in the 1940's. Nothing in our apartments was even close to current codes. We were constantly updating the electricity in the units. This was my first time, using outside help, as a new home owner, and new San Diegan. I will not make this mistake again. I thought I'd done enough research, but, I was mistaken.

Do NOT be fooled by Andy's nice demeanor. His words and promises are empty lies.
