CAVEAT EMPTOR: We recently had work done by HUTCH ELECTRIC. They charge by the hour: 1st hour is $125 and $95 per hour after that. When I asked their hourly rates what they failed to tell me is THAT THE BILLING BEGINS WHEN THE ELECTRICIAN LEAVES HIS SHOP! So, by the time they arrive to BEGIN THE WORK, you already have incurred charges. Depending how far you live from their shop, that's work not done that you will pay for. Also be aware that you will pay for work not being done while the electrician takes cell calls to consult about other electrical issues that do not pertain to your work being performed.
