Ed Damien appears to go business as an electrician under both the Hornet (where the payments go on PayPal) and Creative Edge Construction (the business name used for the referral). See the note I sent him below. In my opinion, avoid.
I am disappointed that you charged me $550 for one and a half hours of work. You installed the light I requested, but it is slightly off-center and is not to code. The light is not attached to a box, but rather screwed into a bar that is fastened not to a box but to the ceiling wood. The knob and tube wiring is not removed as I had requested. You said it would be too much work, which is fine, but I shouldn't be charged for something that wasn't done.
An estimate is a rough or approximate guess as to what you would charge. It is assumed that an estimate would be adjusted based on the work actually done, either up or down, to produce the actual charge for the work. One and a half hours, not completing all the task agreed on, and not following best practice would lead me to expect that you would charge significantly less than the estimate, not a staggering $550. I was stunned and did not say all of this while you were here, but I did say some of it. Leaving the knob and tube defeats most of the purpose of the request- why bother to add Romex if you're leaving the old wiring? Did you use a proper junction box to connect the Romex to the knob and tube?
Half that sum would still be very good pay for an hour and a half. I am therefore requesting that you return half of the $550 I paid. You may do so via PayPal, since you have my address there.

We hired Alex to install lights for our home. He left wires dangerous exposed while charging us to dig and run wires through proper conduit.
He further charged us to install lights on our posts. Never did proper wiring saying he didnt have right size drill. We showed him all project before he provided a quote.
After taking money, he stop answering calls or showing up to finishthe work. Now we need to hire another electrician to cleanup improper work done by him.
