American Home Shield assigned Hopwood Electric as the contractor to repair our attic fans.
Please do not use this company. They do not communicate with customers. They're probably overloaded and have accepted more assignments than they can service. Its difficult to know the status of the repair, and said it was not cover by warranty and will cost me about $850 to replace them. I called another company for second opionion and they were able to order the parts and repair was completed right away with no problems.

We really lucked out. We were assigned Hopwood Electric through American Home Shield, and their service couldn't have been better. I took down the contact info from our technician, Joseph, and we've used them twice in the last few years. Their is always timely, helpful, and extremely professional. I couldn't be happier with their service and integrity.

hopwood electric was dispatched through AHS. I had one outlet not working in my house. The electrician said he fixed it but yet I now have seven outlets, not working in my house. This was the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and they have not returned to fix it nor put me on schedule - I am going to report them to the BBB and the state licensing board.

Most unprofessional company I have ever spoken to. The technician was overtly and unnecessarily rude when he left the home 1 minute before I arrived, apparently. I called and explained our unique situation - the home is vacant, the owners live out of state, I (the person meeting the tech) live 30 minutes away. We were never given a window of when to be at the home. The tech called 20 minutes before his arrival (which most companies give you a 30 minutes heads up). I left as soon as I received the call and arrived to the home 10 minutes after the tech and he was already gone. He called the home owners 7 minutes before my arrival and told them I wasn't there. They told him I was around the corner and would be there in less than 10 minutes. He left (allegedly) at the exact time I arrived. When I called he was overly rude to me on the phone saying I was a no-show even though I wasn't and he was told I was around the corner. If you are like me and appreciate good customer service - do not hire this company.

Stay away from Hopwood Electric and if you get assigned this company through American Homeshield call AHS immediately and request another company. The lady on the phone, Lauren, is very rude not accomodating. She said we need to treat our appointment like a doctors office. Last time I checked doctors don't give out 3 hour appointment windows. Lauren is not the sharpest tool in the shed to say the least. We were scheduled a repair call through AHS on Friday September 2, 2022. The service tech, Joseph, showed up at our house at 10:53.30 AM (validated through RING Camera) and proceeded to ring the doorbell. At 10:54.40 AM he hung a flyer on the door and walked away (validated through RING Camera) from the door and drove off. Now requesting a $40 missed service fee and having to reschedule the work order all together. Lauren, the rude lady that answers the phone, proceeded to tell me the technicians gives the customer a 10 minute window to show up at the house. We showed up at 10:58AM (validated through a RING Camera) as we were on the way from work at the moment, our AC is out we are not going to sit in a 90 degree house waiting on the technician. When we arrived the technician was not there and now Hopwood is making this our issue. Lauren complained they are a Waxahachie business and ""have to drive over an hour to get to Plano"" then guess what.....remove yourself from AHS service calls. Nobody told you to sign up for these calls. She proceeded to tell me the GPS on the trucks will validate that the technician was there for 10 minutes. Clearly false as my RING camera shows otherwise. Deceptive company and a rude lady on the phone. Stay far away from this company for any repairs you might need.

Please do not use this company. They do not communicate with customers. They're probably overloaded and have accepted more assignments than they can service. Its difficult to know the status of the repair. They were suppose to order a part to complete the repair, but they failed to order it and were unable to complete the repair. Rather than calling to let me know the error, they avoided phone calls and delayed the repair.

I called another company and the repair was completed right away with no problems. Unfortunately, a simple fix that would have taken a few days took several weeks because of Hopwood Electric.

Service through Hopwood Electric was initially provided for for us through American Home Shield for problems with out kitchen overhead lights. They did such a great job that we contracted with them the following week to repair an attic fan not covered under our homeowners warranty. Lauren responded quickly to our request and scheduled a technician at a time we were available. He arrived promptly, was professional and repaired the fan quickly and successfully. And the cost was reasonable. I will definitely use them again!

3/22/2022 American Home Shield assigned Hopwood Electric as the contractor to repair our attic fans.
3/24 Hopwood technician came and told us we need to provide a ladder in order for them to make the repair. Technician will come back once we have a ladder.
4/27 I contacted AHS to let Hopwood know that we have the ladder as they requested. AHS agent called and left a message with Hopwood. Hopwood never called back.
4/28 Called AHS again with the same information. AHS stated that Hopwood will call us back by the end of the day. We never receive a call from Hopwood.
5/2 AHS issued a recall for the repair and said Hopwood will call within 24-48 hours to come back for repair. Hopwood never called back.
5/4 I spoke to an AHS agent, Terrence, and representative says Hopwood now wants us to now provide a scaffolder, not a ladder.
5/6 Spoke to another AHS representative. She confirms that Hopwood wants us to get scaffolding before their contractor come back.
5/27 Spoke to Harvey from AHS and he said Hopwood doesn't need a scaffolding but a ladder. A supervisor, Melanie called back and confirmed that Hopwood is now requesting a ladder. Melanie spoke to Lauren from Hopwood and said that someone from Hopwood will call back after the Labor Day weekend. Hopwood never called.
6/1 AHS representative said Hopwood will call. I spoke to Lauren from Hopwood and she said she needs a recall number from AHS. I called and left the dispatch number and asked Hopwood to call back to schedule a time to come out. Hopwood never called back.
As of today, we still have not heard from Hopwood. First, they require us to provide them a ladder, then a scaffolding, then back to ladder. We still have not been able to get the attic fans fixed. We contacted three other companies (outside of AHS) and no one requires a scaffolding, a ladder, nor any additional tools from us. My advice is to request AHS to use any contractors other than Hopwood Electric LLC.

Tyler was dispatched to fix a ceiling fan via American Home Shield (horrible company, but that is another review). Tyler arrived and spent a total of 9 minutes in my home. Looked at the fan and told me he couldn't fix it. But told me how much he'd charge to install a new fan outside of the warranty! I called another electrician and he fixed the fan! For less than the service fee charged by AHS and what Tyler would charge to install a new fan. Based on previous reviews, there seems to be a pattern here. Seems they work the jobs they want and scam people and AHS out of there money. Must be nice to get paid for doing nothing.
