CALIFORNIA:

Home Networks began as a computer services and network cabling company in the South Bay Area with a C-7 Low Voltage classification. Recognizing the demand for electrical work, we obtained a C-10 Electrical classification in early 2000. Our expertise in technology allowed us to integrate Smart Home solutions with our electrical services. During the economic downturn in late 2008, our customers became interested in energy-efficient options and alternative energy solutions. This evolution resulted in the establishment of Home Networks, Electric & Solar, where we added our C-46 Solar classification.

NEVADA:

In 2019, we secured licensing to operate in Las Vegas, Nevada. We possess a C-2 Contractors License (NSCB). Our expertise lies in Electrical services, Sunpower Solar PV installations, Tesla EV Charger installations, and Tesla Powerwall setups.

I needed an electrician to install a Tesla wall connector. This was not your run of the mill residential installation. This was a commercial property will tricky breaker box access in relation to the charger location. HNES was one of the recommended installers from Tesla.

From first contact to finish it was all under two weeks. Branden was excellent and created a solution for the tricky location issues. I highly recommend them.

I came into some good fortune when my panel replacement was reassigned to HNES after original company bailed. At the same time, the original company also mentioned that the larger solar ready panel needed to be relocated outside of the cubby where the old panel resides. This was not desirable since we wanted to keep the panel hidden. As it turned out, Brandon and his team came out and was able to fit the new panel into the same cubby with room to spare. In addition, all breakers were clearly labeled and overall extremely clean installation. PG&E arrived on time for both shut-off and switching back on after city inspector approval, another testament HNES runs a smooth and professional operation. I will not hesitate to refer HNES to friends and family.

I had was looking for a reasonable cost to install a EV charger for the car. Most companies were charging either higher or slightly lower when they did not provide a inspection which critical for me.

Randy was also very responsive to my questions and provided written quotes, and decided to go with them.

The work was done in a professional manner and also inspection concluded in a timely manner without failing (when the city was allowed to work due to Covid virus home sheltering).

We had Randy and his team install a NEMA 14-50 outlet on the wall in the garage for our car. The quoting process was smooth and efficient and we got a long way by providing pictures of the electrical panel, house picture for distance estimates and installation location.

Brandon and one other worker came over to do the work. When I got home that day, the installation to my eyes was less than I expected in that flexible conduit was used even on the exposed inside garage surfaces. I expressed my dissatisfaction with Randy through email and he got right back to me the first thing the next morning. We spoke later in the day and the long/short is he had Brandon back out there to redo the conduit runs to solid bent pipe. The installation looks a world different and very professional.

I want to commend Randy for owning up to the issue and committing to make it right by the customer. At no point was any blame placed on anyone but I particularly respected how he insisted on having Brandon come back out for the rework in the interest of respecting his employees but continually tweaking his process. A great way to run a business!!!

I installed a Solar Carport to charge my Tesla with Solar but the Tesla charger would display a red warning light and not charge the car. The installation technician said it wasn't his fault and that he couldn't fix it.
I called HNES and they sent out a very experience electrician to methodically troubleshoot the problem. Sure enough, the Installation Technician had cut four wires too long and they we shorting out in the back the wall charger. The fix was easy but finding this hidden problem took a lot of skill and experience. I certainty plan to use HNES again on my next project.

My husband (Stephen) had a great experience with them; they were quick, efficient, and had good quality work. Randy, Katrina, and their team were very patient and answered all his questions about the entire process and technical details. They went above and beyond to ensure that we were satisfied with the product and their work. We have a 20-year-old tile roof and they replaced the ones that broke during installation. (Tile can be quite fragile with big guys walking around on them and carrying equipment.) They were fast, too; from contract signing to installation only took about a month, even during rainy season. (We had to wait longer to get approval from the city and PG&E but that's bureaucracy for you.) *A few other contractors had quoted a longer time frame.

We're likely to add additional panels and battery storage in the next few years and hope to work with them again!

I used HNES to install our EV charging station. They were very professional and did a fantastic job. They even cleaned up after. I was very pleased. Then I used them for installing the security cameras. Brandon and crew did an AMAZING job with that. They made sure the whole set up was working before they left. I can't say enough good things about this company. Five stars all around!!

Randy was quick to give me a quote after I found out my inverter (12 yrs old) stopped working. He was patient to answer my questions and gave me a vshort lead time for installation. Overall I am pleased working with them.

I hired HNES to upgrade my existing 100 amp panel to a 200 amp along with installing a sub panel for my hot tub. To start, the communication with Randy, Katrina and Brandon has been excellent. When talking through the scope of work with Randy I really enjoyed how he used technology such as Face Time video to chat when I had questions. This was huge in the fact it saved me a bunch of time and avoided the back and forth of meeting in person at the house. He was able to answer all my questions accurately and see exactly what I was looking at.

Installation day.... Brandon and the crew showed up right on time and were prepared to work on the panel installation and hot tub. Prior to the install Brandon walked me through the plan for the day and my input on the placement of the sub panel. Brandon was extremely knowledgeable, great with communication, and easy to work with which I really appreciated. Unfortunately, PG&E showed up long after the schedule window for the power disconnect so the installation for the main panel had to be rescheduled. Brandon to the rescue said not to worry I'll make sure to get your hot tub up and running as he knew that was important to me. I sincerely appreciated the follow through and even though having to reschedule the main panel install was out of their control they wanted to make sure I was a happy customer. I would absolutely recommend hiring HNES as you will be working with an A team!

Ok. Where do I start. This has been THE WORST experience we've had with any contractor throughout our full home remodel.

The first red flag should have been around what felt like weird, not transparent, and I personally think semi legal charging practices. They charge on per hour basis. However, they only quoted us for one week of work without EVER specifying it will take them more than a week to complete the scope. When we realized that and asked how long it will take, they never gave a definitive answer. So de facto, we had no idea how much we wouldn't have ended up spending, had we continued to work with these guys...

Couple nuggets I found re charging and contracts:
""T&M and COST PLUS contracts VIOLATE the law by failing to state the total contract amount, failing to identify start and stop dates, and failing to provide a firm payment schedule referencing the completed work and stated in dollars and cents. The CLSB declares its interpretation that such contracts are illegal in its newsletter article entitled Time and Material Contracts Not Legal for Home Improvement."" https://www.smithcurrie.com/publications/california-law-notes/strict-rules-home-remodel-contracts-california/
There must be a detailed, written payment schedule in the contract....If the contract price or scope of work needs to be changed, it MUST be done with a written Change Order... https://www.cslb.ca.gov/Consumers/Hire_A_Contractor/Home_Improvement_Contracts/What_Is_A_Contract.aspx
Price - All contracts must include the agreed-to price. Any job
costing $500 or more (combined material and labor) needs a
written home improvement contract. By law, the job must be
completed for the agreed-upon contract price.
https://www.cslb.ca.gov/Resources/GuidesAndPublications/HomeImprovementContractsConsumerGuide.pdf

The other red flag is their communication style that felt just... humiliating. When we started digging deeper into what we are paying for, they just became defensive (wouldn't be surprised if they do it here too), evasive, and simply disrespectful.

We felt stuck and really didn't know how to end the nightmare. We ended up paying whatever they asked for the work they did (which we learned later was ~1.5-2 times higher than market) and just asking them to leave. It jeopardized our whole remodel as the delays cascaded but we just couldn't imagine dealing with them any longer.

I never left a one start review, but I really hope no one else gets burned so badly with this company.

We are also planning to file a complaint to the The Contractors State License Board, which I also thought I would never ever do, but I just feel I have to as their practices need to be checked.

All this is my personal experience and opinion, but I did want to share to hopefully help someone...
