Great fast service. Friendly technician very knowledgeable. Thorough and took time to educate me on the electric running through the house fixed problems I immediately. Would Recommend highly.

I made an appointment and agreed to the $88 service charge which I was told, if the did the repair, there would be no service charge, I had requested the to look at the bathroom fluorescent light, which did not always turn on I set up the appointment, took the call on my cell stating they were on the way, i told them fine my wife was home to let them in, I assumed they would contact me with the quote instead they got my wife's approval and also told her they needed to change an outlet to a GFIc outlet (not sure where that came from had nothing to do with the lights). I ques they got the approval from my wife knowing or assuming I would have laughed at them and told them no way in this lifetime ($590 for 2 ballast, 4 4 foot fluorescents, and a GFIc outlet also talked her into a second downstairs total bill $690 for less than $100 in parts. Obviously they are taking advantage of the unknowing public and senior citizens.
My wife did tell me the tech was very polite and courteous.
When I contacted Hoffman office manager, he simply laid it off to there tech are trained and schooled and extremely knowledgable.
I took it a step further today and talked with a couple of electricians who quoted $100 to $150 plus parts, which is what I personally expected.
A word of warning avoid these people at all cost, they are taking advantage of us.
Sincerely Phillip Wiggin

The service man came out for a free estimate and wanted $750 to replace the jaws in my meter. Three other electricians had already given me an estimate of $300 for the job so I refused. They then offered to do it for $650, which I still refused. They then tried to charge me a service fee, which I refused because it was a FREE estimate and the boss got me on the phone and said ""Oh so you're THAT kind of customer-everything you do is right !"" I told him I am not his customer at all, but thanks for wasting my time. Then I got the job done the next day for $300.

Bob Took half the number of outlets off one of our breakers and installed two new runs to keep the power evenly distributed--the electrician that installed our electric when we built our custom home--TOTALLY BOTCHED IT UP--WITH BURNED BOXES AND WIRING!!!!!!!!!!!! so Hoffman ran the two new breakers. Also Installed two new outdoor gfi plugs for our propane hot water heater and CHRISTMAS LIGHTS!! EXCELLENT/QUALITY/REASONABLE WORK!!!!!!!!

A very bad experience with Hoffman Electric (of Tampa/St. Pete/Sarasota) - I do not recommend them for electrical work. And after looking through the reviews from the last 5 months, I realize now that I'm not alone. Given the other complaints, it's interesting that the Service Manager Tom seemed surprised at ""my confusion"" regarding pricing. It appears that the concerns I expressed to him on the phone are not uncommon. For instance on Yelp since Feb/2016 - 5 one star reviews/experiences...and on 'Google reviews' in the last 6 months, 3 ONE star reviews and 2 TWO star reviews. I asked on the phone prior to making my appointment ""how much would it be to change a GFCI"". Tom said ""I don't have the pricing book"", only the technicians have it. The pricing on the website says starting price of $18 for changing an outlet. Come to find out that this starting price is for ""if you are having an entire house redone with new outlets"", per Tom. The actual pricing (once Hoffman was at our house) was $188 for one GFCI outlet, over 1000% more (that's one thousand percent) than the 'basic outlet' pricing on the website. It took the electrician 10 minutes to do the work. I also asked the technician if he could check out a fan/light that wasn't working. He said there would be a $379 troubleshooting fee on top of the $188 for the GFCI. So a total of $567 for replacing one GFI and troubleshooting a fan/light. Does it seem misleading to anyone that the rates published on the website are actually for ""having an entire house redone with new outlets""...and having 1 done is literally 1000%+ more (that's one thousand percent) than the published rate? You can call the manager to complain and they may reduce the price slightly, but I have to agree with the other posters who called Hoffman Electric a ""scam"" and their website pricing ""bs"". I wonder if the electrician turnover is high at Hoffman. Given the reviews, it would seem that the technicians may take the brunt of it from unhappy customers once they are onsite and discuss the actual pricing. If this is the case, and the technicians hear these complaints frequently, yet Hoffman knowingly continues using the same business practices, then this is a major issue...

This was the most expensive electrician I have ever seen.I called for a free estimate and they allegedly agreed. They tried to get me to sign a form saying that I would pay a fee, I think $88 since I was not going to use their service. Beware of paying too much.

I called Hoffman to request someone come out and take a look at some electrical issues. I explained that we had sockets that were not working. I was told that there was an $88 fee to just come out, which I agreed to. I had to step out and when I did the electrician showed up and proceeded to tell my co-worker that the fee just to take a look was $379. This was supposedly a troubleshooting fee. I was told on the phone that once the person arrived they would troubleshoot and see what the problem was. If we decided to have them fix the issue, the $88 would not be charged. The guy was here a total of 10 minutes and said that there were 2 breakers that were not on...he said that it was the quickest job he had ever done. So, for $379 the guy was here for 10 minutes and switched 2 breakers. I called the office to complain and a lady answered the phone. I was very upset and she stated that they did what they were supposed to do and that my friend should not have signed if she did not want them to look for the problem. I explained that I had checked the breaker box and just did not realize if it was just 2 breakers...I just did not know. She then said, ""Well that is why you need someone to come out and look at it for you now, don't you?"" This may not be the exact wording, but it certainly is close enough. I asked to speak to a manager several times and she eventually said she was a manager and I said I wanted to speak someone above her. The sales person called me back and I proceed to explain the situation to him also. He said that when the electrician comes in they have a book that shows them what they should charge to troubleshoot and repair. I said that he never told me anything about needing to pay up front for anything except the $88 fee. I asked him why he would not have quoted me the $379 over the phone since my friend gave the exact info to the electrician when he walked through the door prior to him looking at anything. He said he does not have access to the book of fees. I cannot believe a business does not have the fee book and only those in the field carry those. The electrician did showed my friend the price in the ""book"" and she thought it was something requiring some time to fix. He literally walked in the breaker room and flipped 2 switches and it was fixed.
I understand that there are protocol and even understand charging a couple hundred dollars for the time, but to charge that kind of money and have it be 2 breaker switches and not help renegotiate an almost $400 charge...what a rip off. The guy also told me that I better watch what I say in any reviews that I write...he threatened me by saying that I could be in legal trouble. Great customer service...charge me an exuberant amount of money, have a lady on the phone that was rude, a salesman not try to work with the customer along with threatening me about what I would write as a review...I am so disappointed in this experience. Again, I absolutely think there needs to be a charge, but not for almost $400, that and the lack of customer service was extremely disappointing to me.

They fixed the problem, but there was plenty bad - and others could have fixed it too. First they told me that I was getting a free estimate. Once Roger got there, he told me the estimate would cost me $88. He does not understand the concept of applying the $88 towards the cost if I accepted the estimate. After much back and forth, I finally understood that, in his mind, they remove the $88 and just charge for the repair, if I accept the estimate to repair it. Some difference, but he has only one way of seeing it. Next he did not do a full job of troubleshooting to give me an estimate. He would not look in the attic - somehow, to him, looking in the attic to see if the wires were marked so he might be able to pull a replacement wire through was doing the job. If he had looked, he would have learned that the wires ran under the house, but he wouldn't do it without charging more. He said the wall would have to come out to make the original lights work, so we decided on placing a ceiling light in a different location. I went to get a new light fixture. While gone, he finally looked in the attic and discovered that the wires ran under the house. He said he could make the original lights work - so I went to Home Depot and bought another fixture for nothing. He replaced the wire and got the lights working. He charged me for installing a new ceiling light even though he didn't do that. I wanted him to put in a light fixture - just hang it - in another apartment. He told me they charged $125 to do that - not electrical problems - just hanging a light fixture. Outrageous! So he said he would give me a break on that. I guess by not removing the pricing for hanging another fixture in the original apartment, he ended up charging me close to the $125. And - to top it off - he did not clean up after himself. He left the old wires lying around in the yard.
I will not use them again. Electricians are difficult - they charge a fortune - and these people nickel and dime you - because you need them and they can. I will keep searching for reasonable ones.

Lightning hit near our house, and sent a surge through, knocking some things out. We called Hoffman Electric. They were the only ones that could come out the next day. They were professional on the phone, and in person. Alan came out and did a phenomenal job. He was very professional, very friendly, and did a thorough job at checking out everything in the house, and fixing the items that needed to be fixed. I was worried about the electric in the house, but after he checked it out, I felt very safe.
They had a great rate, and if we ever need electrical work again, they are the ones we will call. We will request Alan, and know that we will get a job well done. Thank you so much!
It is hard to find honest and reputable companies, but Hoffman Electric shines through.

THIS IS A TOTAL RIP OFF. So, we bought our house a year ago - no issues until recently. We are relatively new to the area with no contacts or immediate family in the area. So, I found Hoffman online and saw some great reviews so I called. I specifically asked about a per hour charge. I was very clear in that I was very price oriented and need to stay within a budget. I specifically inquired about the per hour charge and was told that there was none. I was told that it was based upon the price to fix the item. And, I was told about $88 service fee but I was told that if they did the work they would remove the charge. The technician showed up and before he checked anything or did anything. He walked in the house with a clipboard and a sheet ALREADY FILLED OUT and said that there is a per-hour charge of $379 to do trouble shooting. So, why was I NOT told about this when I called? The tech said well you knew about the $88 charge and I said "" well if I had known you were going to charge me $379 per hour then I would not have come to my home"" This is price gouging! When I called the ""supervisor"" Tom I was told that he had to come there to give me the price in person to analyze the situation. And I said HE HAS NOT DONE one thing and HE HAD THE PAPERWORK FILLED OUT BEFORE HE EVER ENTERED MY HOME. So, why exactly did I have to have him come out to my home, to sit in the driveway and fill out paperwork? Why could this not have been told to me honestly and fairly! How can he diagnose the problem/ cost from the vehicle? He left and I was told that I would not be charged for the $88 dollars. If I get a bill, it's going to get really ugly. This company is simply out to get your money, I agree this is an unethical and bad business.
