Hewlett Electric absolutely deserves five stars. I had concerns about
my house, built in the early 60s, having some old wires that could cause fire hazards. Meigs thoroughly and selflessly explained to me why I should not be so worried. He told me the only thing I need to watch for is overusage of our space heaters, which are common culprits of house fires. He spent about 15 min with me on the phone giving excellent advise, knowing that he was not even making any money off me. That is what I call honesty and integrity. If needs ever arise for any kind of electrical work, I am definitely calling Meigs of Hewlett Electric.

Meigs was easy to talk to and great to work with. His prices weren't the cheapest, but definitely reasonable. I was looking for a licensed electrician who would be able to respond to questions about the work. Almost took off one star because I was under the impression that he would be doing the work himself-- instead he had some employees come out. We've had no problems with the quality of the work, and his crew called after the work was complete to see if I wanted to do a walk through with them. When I declined, Meigs called with the same offer the next day. I was free and met with him. He was professional, patient, and explained all the work that was done. I'd definitely recommend Hewlett Electric to anyone who is looking for a professional electrician.

First off, I have never met Meigs or anyone from Hewlett Electric, nor have I done any business with them at all. That said, I am completely impressed!

Let me explain... I had an issue in the island of my kitchen where it had lot power. Not being too comfortable, I checked the breaker and found nother ""easy"" to fix. I called Hewlett Electric with a detailed voicemail, and Meigs called me back within minutes. He left me a voicemail saying that he was booked way out and couldn't get to me, but recommended someone else that may be able to respond quickly. I moved on to the next guy, but Meigs called back again and asked me to call him because maybe I could fix it myself. I was pretty sure I couldn't and I was busy with other things, so I didn't call back. He called again! He suggested it could need a GFI reset, but I knew that my blown outlet did not have a GFI. He told me to look for another GFI outlet that it may be in series with. I went home, found the other GFI, and it was fixed.

I called off the other guy. Meigs cared and took the time to call me 4 times for something he wasn't even going to get business with. Fantastic! When I have a real issue in the future, I know who to go with!

I've used Hewlett Electric twice for external wiring to my backyard pond. They are professional, show up on time, call if they are late & an overall class act. They're busy so do plan on scheduling in advance.

Wow! I have to laugh because I didn't even look up Hewlett Electric on yelp before hiring to them to do my small job. (I was that crushed for time)

But after Brian left the first thing I thought is ""I have to get on yelp! They are so worthy of a good review"", and I am so bad at actually getting online and doing it.

I ran into Hewlett Electric by mistake, they were doing work on a neighbors house and I was on my way to Home Depot....

I had just ordered my new stove, and decided to do a new floor before the holidays, when low and behold I fell into a nightmare of termite damage that threw things into a few weeks of work rather than a few days.

I had planned on doing most of the work myself, but with this new dilemma it would be impossible to finish in time. One of the things I needed to do was change the old hard wiring, into two new outlets for the new appliances

I hit my breaks and backed up my car when I saw the word ""electric"" on their truck. I asked if they could possibly do a small job real quick. Meigs came out that evening and Brian was here the next to do the work.

Phenomenally nice, professional, prompt , courteous... fair... I could go on and on... what more could you ask for?

I couldn't have had a better experience than with these guys, and once I get through the holidays, and on with all the other electrical work I'd like to do I will be calling them again.

If you want great people to work with, these are the ones :-)

Awesome, great job done! Personable, Reasonable and the estimate price did not change. They installed recessed lighting and additional outlets that were way overdue in our older house. It is so nice to have honest, reliable and great electricians. Saving for a panel upgrade , now that I have a company that I trust.. Thanks all!

Potential work: Electrical Panel replacement

I found this company through Yelp. My house has a really old electrical panel and having moved to this house about 18 months back, I was looking for an electrician to replace the electrical panel just a safety precaution (I'd read old panels are potential fire hazards). Meigs arrived on time and answered all my questions. I then asked him: In your professional opinion, does my panel really needs to be replaced right away or can it last a few years? Now most contractors would use scare tactics in order to win the job. But I was pleasantly surprised with Meigs honest answer. He said, ""Being an electrician, if I owned this house, I'd probably wait for a few more years before replacing the panel."" Now how many times will you hear a contractor say that? Needless to say, Meigs will likely have my job whenever I'm ready to replace it.

Work: Running cables along the attic and through walls to new rooms.

First off, the entire crew is extremely friendly, respectful, and helpful. Not only are they pleasant to deal with, but they are all efficient, punctual, professional, and willing to explain in detail the work they are doing. On top of it all, their pricing is very fair (had a few estimates before choosing Hewlett) and they will recommend the best options to you (whether it brings them business or not, at least in my dealings with them).

My experience was a bit unique as I had them come out twice to run the cables into rooms that previously had no outlets, through the attic. The first time they came out and ran the wires cleanly with no hitch. They finished in less then a few hours even though the work was fairly extensive through a small attic and inbetween different walls. But I asked them to use an old wire that I had to save some money, since long wires can be expensive (huge mistake). We tested the televisions and everything worked fine before they left.

Within a couple days, I was having some issues with internet. I had Comcast come out and test the wiring in multiple places and found that the cable I had provided could not handle the bandwidth high speed internet needed (felt pretty stupid at this point). I called up Meigs and asked for his advice and how much it would cost to re-run the wire. He gave me the options and told me he would re-run the wire for FREE!!!

They came out again within a few days and re-ran the wire within an hour, again cleanly and without any issues. We tested everything a bit more thoroughly this time and found no issues. Now everything works great, and I couldn't be more happy. I highly recommend Hewlett Electric if you are looking for a fair, professional electrician you can trust. At the very least, they will give you great advice!

We called Meigs to redo some of the the wiring in our garage, put in a few outlets and shop lights, etc. Reasonable estimate, he came in a few days later with a helper and completed the job very well. Even did some extra things and did not charge extra. Cleaned up the whole place nicely. Great job.

Meigs and his crew did a great job for us. The work was high quality, very detail-oriented, and done in a timely fashion. The price was also very reasonable.

They even took the time to answer questions we had about a completely different topic (track lighting). If we ever get off our lazy butts and decide on a lighting solution for our living room, we will certainly give Meigs a call.
