This review is for my initial meeting with them and not their work. The staff was friendly and helpful. My estimator arrived on time and did a great job going over every option and cost that was available. In the end their prices for the work not terrible but was quite a bit more than the electrician I ended up using. Since the job involved 15+ recessed lights, 8 ceiling fixtures, 200 Amp panel upgrade, E/V car charger and wiring of a garage plus misc additional work the difference added up to thousands.

I called Meigs a couple years back to install a couple ceiling fans at my townhome and they did a great, clean job. I thought I reviewed them then- guess not- long overdue!

These guys are professional and do a great job. The quality of the work is superb and they really make an effort to do minimize collateral damage.

I called them back this year since San Jose seems to be getting hotter! I needed 2 ceiling fans installed in my upstairs bedrooms. I have an older townhome so there are no celing fixtures only switch activated wall plugs. They installed ceiling fans in both rooms- re-routed and connected the switch to activate the ceiling fan and made the switch outlet an independent live outlet- all of this work and only 2 small holes!

I called to try and get electrician out for a dryer outlet issue. Meigs responded faster than any of the 5 electricians I contacted. As usual with good electricians they are extremely hard to get out on a moments notice. Meigs is owner and was extremely patient listening to my issue even though he stated he did not have time but would refer me to 2 other electricians he trusted. After about 10 minutes talking about issue he suggested I call PGE to verify issue was not theirs. He explained to me in detail what he thought the issue was and why PGE should be called first. As I know enough to be dangerous about electrical, it did make complete sense to me what he was suggesting. I really appreciate how professional he was and taking the time to clearly communicate the options and possible problems. I would not hesitate to contact Meigs in the future for all my electrical needs.

The name of the company might scare you a bit... but no, they are not the size of Hewlett-Packard. In fact Hewlett Electric is a small enough family owned business that cares to be personable to their clients.

I asked for online quotes for recessed lightnings installation to a few providers from yelp, and Meighs from Hewlett was the only one who sent me a quick ballpark quote with actual numbers instead of being vague.

The quote was great, and the installation was great too! The lights and the dimmer were all installed in a few hours, completed before lunch time.

Glad that I found this company, and I'd recommend them to anyone that needs electrical work done.

I cannot say enough good things about this crew. They completed a panel upgrade on my home as well as some other electrical work and repairs. The scope of work ended up being more difficult than originally expected, but they stuck to their original bid price.

Bryan and his crew made sure we had power overnight so that we would be comfortable throughout the upgrade.

Also, my little pet peeve thing, all the boxes and switch plates were installed level and squared to the wall so they would not look off. And, all the screw heads pointed in the same direction. I know this is such a silly thing, but it shows their attention to detail.

They will definitely be on my call list for the next electrical project.

Couldn't be any happier with the consultation we had with Meigs at Hewlett. Hubs and I don't know much about how electrical works and we were mistakenly under the impression that a couple of bad switches meant we were on track for a whole house electrical redo. Meigs assessed our issues, gave sound (and educational) advice on what the problem really was ... and advised how to address without needing to pull out all of the aluminum. Meigs is so booked that he can't take our job till August however he recommended a competitor (Voltz) to do the work. So nice to come across a contractor who seemingly isn't in it only for the money or the job but sincerely wanted to assess my issue and give me sound/reassuring advice.

We did a big electrical project with them and have always been very pleased with their work. Even 15 months later, they came by to address an issue I was having with several dimmer switches and replaced them. Meigs returns calls quickly. He's honest and straightforward. Stop looking! You don't need to go any further than Hewlett Electric. I had already had three estimates from other companies for my project. When Meigs Hewlett answered the phone, I knew this company was going to be doing my work. They are a small company that has been working together for years. They share a phenomenal work and business ethic. Meigs and his partner, Bryan have a wealth of experience they bring to your project. Meigs consulted closely with me on my kitchen, hall and bathroom lighting requirements. When something I wanted to do wasn't possible, he talked me down and offered the perfect solution. It was much smaller than what I wanted, but it was the right thing to do under the circumstances. I can't recommend them highly enough.

While I did not actually receive service from these guys, I requested a quote and received a response within minutes that expressed they were not doing the type of work that I needed. They then proceeded to refer me to someone else who might be able to do it. 5 stars for the excellent customer service!

I cannot say enough good things about the work these folks do, so completely awesome. Hire them today. I had them come out and replace my breaker panel inside the house, wire up a bunch of can lights in my kitchen and livingroom, and install an EV charger in the garage.

Meigs came out to take a look at the projects and give me a quote, he was thorough and very friendly. He didn't try to oversell me on any work, and gave me his opinion when he didn't think certain upgrades were worth the money. I really appreciated his honesty and his detailed quote. He made sure that I understood when the crew would come out, confirmed the date while he was in the house, and left me with a short to-do list so I was ready when they arrived. Awesome!

Bryan, Alex and Luis showed up for 3 days straight, and were very friendly. We had some complications about where the lights could be placed because of ductwork in the ceiling, and they were all very helpful in weighing the options with me. They gave opinions when I asked and I were extremely helpful overall.

Now let me comment on their precise workmanship. The first night I arrived home to find 2 can lights installed in one area and one very small hole above the switch, no other mark in the ceiling. I fully expected much more wallboard repair work would have been needed. All of their work was precise, well measured and clean. No complaints at all. They covered all furniture, and swept and vacuumed everything when they were done. I couldn't have asked for more.

The EV charger was a difficult job as it needed upgraded wiring and my garage is detached. The work they did there was completely functional and beautiful.

I would recommend this company to anyone needing any electrical work done, you are in good hands with these guys!
