Hein Electric came recommended to Light Up Orinda as we sought out electricians for adding electricity at various street trees in Orinda for holiday lights. Jim Hein personally volunteered his time to help us figure out the most cost effective plan for implementing our lighting plans. His team of electricians were prepared, were professional and timely. We are very happy with the work that they did and will hire them for any of our expansion needs.

Starting with the free estimate, Nate was on-time and answered all my questions and then some in detail.
After electing to go with the job, Nate once again provided all the options available to me and instilled a sense of confidence and trust, which I am generally not free in giving to contractors. He did the job in a reasonable amount of time. Although I haven't had the need, I feel Hein would make good if I was not satisfied. Excellent work, good price, and trust is all I can ask for.

The professionalism and friendliness of Hein Lighting & Electric was excellent. We were able to work with two of the electricians. Both were on time and very knowledgeable of what needed to be done. Hein fixed all the electrical problems we were experiencing with our extensive outdoor lighting and electrical system and we couldn't be happier. I highly recommend them and if needed, will not hesitate to use them again in the future.

I called this past Friday to have some work done on a receptacle with an open ground and a series of outlets in the kitchen that were not working. Initially told that it may be 2 weeks before someone could come out since it was not an emergency. The kitchen receptacles have been inop for about 2 years. I got a call back from Hein advising they had a cancellation and could come out Monday.

So today the electrician showed up at 0830 as promised and promptly went to work on the kitchen outlets. After doing some troubleshooting he traced the issue back to the subpanel that was replaced when we had solar panels installed, they apparently did not set the neutral wire well and it was not connected.

Afterward he went to work on the other outlet, replaced 1 with a GFI outlet (bathroom) and moved an exterior outlet to a more convenient location. All told, finished in 1.5 hours and entertained my admittedly ignorant electricity questions.

I'm very pleased with the work that was done and will have them back next time I run into electrical problems. Highly recommend!

Jim Hein is honest, hardworking and stands behinds his business and employees. The job done for me was completed well and the electrictician gave me good advice and information on other items around my house.
Jim has convinced me that he absolutely wants everything done right. He is an outstanding individual and business owner.

I can't believe it's taken me this long to write a review of Hein. I've used them 4 times so far and they are absolutely my go to for all things electrical in my house. They have done wiring, new outlets, new boxes, installed ceiling fans and new outdoor security lights so far and everything has been flawless. Really clean work. Reasonably priced, easy to schedule and the guys that have arrived at my house to do the work have all been awesome. Jenny who does scheduling in the office is incredible as well! Thanks Jenny!!! It's so hard to find good companies to work with these days. Most won't even return your call! Hein is different. Give them a call. You'll be glad you did.

Have used Hein on several occasions at two properties. They have always been helpful, reliable and professional.
Today they fitted me in for a defective ceiling light in the kitchen at short notice.
Steve turned up as scheduled and communicated well. Not only did he repair the light fixture he secured it to the ceiling safely ( previously at risk of falling!!!)
Highly recommend and much appreciated.

I called this company as they were referred to us. We asked to make an assessment of our parking lot lights. A man named Nate came and did not even walk around our property because he said he didn't have to wait for our Maintenance Supervisor so he just asked our Operations Director how many lights are out. Then he left. Apparently, there are other issues that needs assessment. I called the business and spoke with Jenny. I advised how the assessment went through and I told her the other issues that needs assessment. I asked if this is a typical process of their walk through she said they are swamped and usually free estimate is not too detailed but should have gone and did a walk through. She also said if you would like to have someone go back it will be $135. I didn't care about the estimate fee but the first job to estimate was already a fail. (It wasn't about the fee but the quality of service.) I needed an estimate that comes from the assessment he has done.
She laughed sarcastically and said that let's just get over it. I don't have time to argue with you. No one was arguing with her. She said she can have someone go back. I lost my interest doing business with them. I said, no need as I think I should just go somewhere else who doesn't insult their customers. I was even being understanding to their situation. She was inconsiderate, unprofessional and rude. I was about to refer them to the other businesses who are needing repairs for their parking lots. It was very disappointing. I was being kind and understanding to all people who are in service business especially nowadays but how can you be kind if people like her (Jenny) would act like that?
