Hi, I’m Chris Groves - Owner of Groves Electric, Inc. I hold a license, bond, and insurance as a Master Electrician and run a thriving electrical contracting firm in South Tampa.

Following my degree in Electrical Engineering and years of diligent work, I founded my electrical contracting company in Minneapolis in 1998. Six years later, I moved Groves Electric to South Tampa. Since then, I have developed the business with two extra crews of experienced electricians who align with my focus on customer satisfaction and quality craftsmanship.

My electricity downstairs went out one day. Annoying, but, not an emergency. I had A/C and the refrigerator was on.I started looking for contractors on Yelp. I spoke to a few and was not thrilled with their responses. I spoke to Chris Groves and gave him the go-ahead to take a look. He came out exactly at 9:30 AM, did a full diagnostic and fixed the ground fault in an hour. He didn't dilly-dally and milk the job to increase the hourly fee at all! I was very pleased indeed! Everything is back to normal. He is very professional, very personable and knows how to get it done. Best of all, he didn't talk ""down"" to me like other contractors did in the past. (The ones that I'd never hire). I would truly recommend his services and will hire him again. I have a high, ugly, ceiling light I'm going to see about next..

After an initial Yelp message, Groves never ended up contacting me. Apparently they did not want or need my business. This was very typical for the contractors that I tried to contact for this project. It is pretty discouraging and frustrating.

i was having problems with power going off and on in the bedroom of my 50+ year old house and my regular electrician was out of town for the week. chris groves answered my late afternoon text within an hour or so to say he'd call in the morning, and did so! he came oyt to check it out for free ,and got four breakers replaced by 10am for a very reasonable price! both he and john couldn't have been nicer and i have a new electrician to add into the mix. i'll be back.

Groves was called to give me an estimate on wiring a 325 sf new construction project on my property, a shed-to-studio conversion. The rep, Jon, arrived with a frown on his face, did not show I.D. (though he was wearing a company shirt), was surly and brusque. When I showed him the structure, he walked in, immediately walked out (10 secs. in and out) and sat down with my blueprints to write his quote. He asked a question I could not answer, so I immediately got the builder (a very reputable and able one) on the phone; Jon was not particularly affable with him, either. When I got the quote Jon wrote up later that day, I almost fell over with shock. It was THREE times (and more) the nearest quote by the two licensed electrical firms I had asked for estimates earlier. As well, the quote was sketchy, contained the minimum specs, and there was no thank you in it or the e-mail to which it was attached for allowing him to come over and take up my time for this absurdity. I contacted Groves initially because I was given a referral by a business owner who had had Groves do some work for him a few years ago. I lost no time in contacting that business owner who was as shocked as I was by what I forwarded him. I realize some vendors simply give an outrageously high quote for jobs they don't, for some reason, want to do. I had explained the project on the phone to Groves when I booked the estimate, but if their rep had, when he saw it, determined it was not something he/Groves wanted to do then all he had to do was say so. It would have saved me hours of time and it would have saved Groves from this very irritated review.
