TLDR: A thorough, trustworthy electrician who correctly scopes his work and deals well with unknowns.
I had a large job I needed to undertake. I needed a 200AMP upgrade, I needed a new 125Amp panel in my garage, a new EV outlet and I needed multiple indoor and outdoor outlets. I looked at eight different contractors and while they were similar, I got lots of bad advice until I met with Chris. Some told me a wrong application of the code. Others purposely made the work harder than it should of been, and others wouldn't commit to making sure the work looked good. I met with Chris and he wrote a very simple and thorough estimate. I agreed with all of his recommendations because they were all right!
Chris's work took multiple days and he explained in simple terms each part of the installation. He was very good at communicating next steps and I could usually expect a response from him within a week on any questions that I had. (Electricians are busy during the day!)
Chris was the 2nd lowest bid because he didn't add dumb work like the other electricians did. If you get an estimate from him, it'll be a fair value for the work involved. The outlet installations were expensive, I thought, but then I saw the work he had to go through to install them and it all made sense. You're paying for an expert to do it correctly and last forever. No sloppiness!
We discovered multiple adjustments we needed to make during the install and Chris was very flexible where it made sense. When I made a bad suggestion, he would tell me why that wasn't a good idea...and he was right. I would trust his recommendations.
PG&E screwed up our appointments but Chris is incredibly gracious and patient and even did some of their work on his own.
After all is said and done, the wiring looks great, the wife is happy and we are set for the next 50 years. He should be your last call, after you talk to the other clowns out there...because you'll realize he's the electrician you can trust.

Very reliable, cost competitive. Has worked for us on several occasions. Installed new electrical panel, can lights. Have never been disappointed

I found Chris through NextDoor referral. He spent time on locating problematic wires, running new wires, and finally got power back for several of our outlets and light switches. He tried hard not to open the wall but worked around by running new wires from crawl space even though it's a hot summer day. He is very professional, thorough, careful, clean, and reliable. His rate is reasonable given that he is a licensed electrician. He informed me ahead of time when he run late. Highly recommend!

We used Chris on a referral. He installed a new L2 hardwired EV charger in our garage and also upgraded and repaired some lighting around the house. Very clean, professional and personable.

Gray Electric is a very professional and trustworthy firm. I'll be using them for all my electrical needs.

Chris came on a referral from a friend and I am so thankful we found him. He is responsive, on time, stays true to schedule and does excellent work.On top of it all he is an all-around nice guy and you feel at ease having him work in and around your home. We've had him install lighting in our garage, recessed lighting in our living areas and lights/fans in our bedrooms. We wholeheartedly recommend Chris for any of your electrical needs.

I have had several odd jobs over the past 7 years Chris Gray has done for us. Each time he is straight about what it will take and how long. He's installed a stove top, dishwasher, light fixtures in several rooms, and repaired some bad wiring.
He has always had everything he needed to complete the job when he arrived, is always concerned about keeping and leaving the work area clean.
I keep telling him that the level of service he offers he should raise his prices but he just doesn't think it's fair. At times like now there is a considerable wait due in part to local economic conditions. Chris has always been fine if I chose to work with someone else that could do the job sooner but there is just no way I'd do than.
Given my background in real estate, I've worked with many contractors who tell a good story but their delivery falls short. With Chris Gray what you see is what you get and more.
Thanks Chris - Dan

I hired Gray electric to replace my old and failing 100 amp electrical panel with a new 200 amp service and panel. Chris's bid included everything needed including patching the stucco work. He worked with the city and PG&E to ensure all of the paper work was in order and to schedule work with PG&E and the inspection with the city. He answered all of my questions and provided me with valuable advice moving forward. He also include a whole house surge protector. He was very flexible with scheduling and he even considered and prepared for future expansion. I would give 10 stars if I could! Of all of the contractors and service providers that I have worked with, I like Chris the best. I will definitely use him in the future!
