Terrible communication.

States he has no workers to add solar panels to roof...???
Then what are you doing.

More than willing to adjust review if Scott come thru, but it doesn't look good.

We paid for our solar system and this is how you treat customers?

No wonder you have no workers.
No one to answer phones either.

So much for my warranty....

Wish I went w another company.

Addendum: now Scott is calling and texting me asking me to remove review. My initial email was April 2019, this is the first time he's actually made the initial contact. All his prior responses were I'm busy I'll get back to you. Now he's concerned that I'm trying to force him out of business
That is not my intention. Everyone deserves to work and make a living.

I am happy w the solar system and the install so I will upgrade rating to 3 stars but this is the present and I still wish I went with different company. How can you run a company for 35 years and now not have any people who can work on a 2 story tile roof? From looking around, most of the solar panels are on 2 story tile roofs.

If you go out of business, it's not because of my review.

Golden West Energy installed a 3.076 rooftop solar panel system on my my brand new home before move in date. Never once have I spoken or met with an employee in regards to solar panel system. Information needed for net metering interconnection was provided to Golden West Energy by Mission Indian housing authority. Golden west energy acted on my behalf and stated that they would be customer contact without. My knowledge. On the interconnection agreement application golden west energy opted me out of all incentive and tax credits I could have benefitted from. A housing upgrade is what was applied to interconnection agreement application. Golden west energy state I wanted an upgrade to my home and the project would be complete on Jan 2016, when the panels were already installed on home in September 2015. Anyhow application was denied because Jan 2016 because they gave SDG&E wrong address. It took golden west energy until May. 25, 2016 to cope to their error. Finally June, 22, 2016 i was approved to operate solar panel system. System worked one month and then quit working. Golden west energy refuses to talk with me because I do not sign agreement with them, but contractor did. Let you know what happens after court date.

Scott and crew did a fantastic job installing our solar. They had it done in a day. We have a tile roof, they removed, installed new asphalt shingles and put down the rails then put the tile back. Wiring was done without drilling holes, and they managed to work with our old electrical panal box. No pushy salesmen and the engineer was fantastic at getting everything taken care of. They checked our roof inside and out and made sure everything was sound. I highly recommend Golden West for solar installations.

After dealing with Salesman after Salesman after Salesman!! My husband and I were getting frustrated with the idea of Solar. We had almost given up on it until we talked to our neighbor who recommended Golden West Energy.
My husband called and spoke to Scott the owner and within 24 hours he had a quote that was within our budget. He didn't try to gauge us for money or extra material.
Scott offered his advise on how to take care of the cost thru low interest banks and or the Hero program.
We placed the order for the panels and before you know it the team was here installing.
They are fast,efficient and very nice. Scott was here for the finish and walked us thru the change over. He also offered for us to call him anytime if we had any questions. (we still do call him from time to time with questions)
We have had Solar for a year and a half and we are so happy we were able to use Golden West Energy.
Thank you Scott and Team for making this a easy and cost effective addition to our home!!

I searched for many months to find a company that I would trust to replace my roof and install solar . I called Golden West Energy for an estimate and I was really impressed with there service and also with all options they provided me . I did have my roof replaced , Mike made sure all went smoothly and made sure all was done in a efficient and timely matter . Mike and owner Scott were excellent and shortly after my solar panels were installed . I highly recommend overall Golden West Energy.

I did a lot of online research before choosing Golden West. Not just reviews, but licensing and BBB ratings as well. We had an unusual situation and they really worked with us to find a solution I and my budget could live with. They answered all my questions and responded to all my concerns. There was an issue with the inspector concerning the need for and/or placement of a cutoff switch, but that was resolved in a couple of days. From first contact to job finished took less than 2 months. We couldn't be happier.

We just got solar panels installed on our roof in Normal Heights and couldn't be happier. If you priced solar even just a couple years ago, and thought it too expensive, try again. Prices have dropped so dramatically that it now costs more to NOT do this! Golden West Energy did a fantastic job for a great price. The initial quote even offered tips on financing, with several scenarios on loan payments compared to our average electric bill, so it was easy to see the cost effectiveness of the various options. Scott and his staff kept in communication through the whole process. The actual installation was done ahead of schedule. We had a small problem that cropped up after the city inspection that involved a bad switch, that Scott diligently worked on over several visits to analyze and make sure everything was perfect. How they handle a problem for me is how you separate a good from a great contractor. This is one of the great ones.

I don't give very many 5-star ratings, as I believe they need to be reserved for superior service, quality, and honest-dealing well beyond average. Golden West is simply sensational! We contacted the solar companies who advertise incessantly on the radio, and they all left us with the feeling we were about to get reamed. Two friends had used this ""small business"" Golden West, so we reluctantly gave Scott a call. He wasn't a slick salesman, he just patiently talked through the process, the options, asked questions, and answered questions.

After multiple proposal request variations (which Scott responded to so professionally) we purchased a 6.5 kW system in November 2012. Our first year's Net Metering energy usage was just $40. Wow! He called it almost perfectly and we couldn't be happier. Scott dealt smoothly with the HOA representative, jumped through the County's permitting hoops in record time, and personally supervised the nearly-perfect installation. We had been extremely worried about roof damage, but their fastening system is really cool!

When it comes to construction and so much slipshod work out there, I'm not patient with incompetence and not the easiest guy to please. But I can think of NOTHING about our experience with Golden West that is even slightly negative. We plan to do a couple of rentals in the future, and Scott's work will DEFINITELY be part of the plan.

I needed 2 solar inverters replaced for our residential solar system and contacted several companies. Golden West Energy was quick to respond and gave me the best solution at the lowest quote. Compared with the other companies Golden West Energy seemed much more knowledgeable about the newest solar inverters and solar panels. Scott Sherman with Golden West Energy came out and checked out the solar inverters and panels for a minimal fee and made arrangement to replace the inverters within a few days. Our solar system was up and running again. They even cam back a week later to check on the system and add an emergency outlet for the inverters free of charge. Scott and his staff at Golden West Energy have great knowledge in regards to repairing and installing solar systems and provide excellent customer service. I recommend them strongly and would use them again without reservation.
