Gerhard Electric was once Mr Electric but they gave up their franchise and they are now going by the name Gerhard Electric. I had used Mr Electric several times and I was both satisfied with their service and the cost for those services. Yesterday they came to plug in five smoke alarms for me and the total job required nothing more than plugging in five smoke alarms to existing plugs and the entire job took less than thirty minutes and the charge was $298.00. Fair warning, get a price before you allow Gerhard Electric to even make a call to your home as the technician told me that $298.00 was their minimum charge for any call and the cost for any work done goes up from there. This job did not require an electrician at all but I called on Gerhard only because the instructions given with the new smoke detectors recommended that an electrician install new ""wired"" smoke detectors which we have in our home.

My husband hired this company to replace to a dimmer switch in our kitchen. We even had the part for him to install. The worker Danny, was there about 30 minutes or less and the final bill was 323.00. Really???? The work order has no detailed information written on it, which in this company's language means ""I ripped another one off"" This is a very dishonest company and I would absolutely not use them ever again. As a final blow, they installed the switch backwards!

Just got a call from Gerhard Electric. In reviewing my bill they noticed that no breakers were included in the service. Thus they reduced my bill from $388 to $288. I am very happy about getting that bill adjustment. However, please make sure and get an estimate before any work is done.
