Paid $425.00 dollars for annual generator service a few days prior to Tropical Storm Beryl. We lost power during the storm. Generator came on then immediately off. I manually started it, it began smoking. I shut it off and noticed the coolant reservoir was empty but there were no leaks. Contact was made via the phone and subsequently email. The service person came, identified the belt was bad (oddly). He also filled up the radiator with coolant (interesting). No part, had to order. Company says he cannot replace belt until $200.00 dollars invoice is paid (SERVICE CALL). I was willing although upset until I was informed: I WAS ALSO RESPONSIBLE FOR AN ADDITIONAL $200.00 dollars (service call) plus the cost of the belt. In total the estimate for a belt and annual inspection $1000.00 dollars. Why is the customer responsible for the cost of them not having the required parts and returning? That's insidious. Why didn't the service person discover the belt problem during the annual? The generator was never on after his service prior to the storm, so how did it malfunction? Why did he have to add coolant if he'd topped it off before? Especially since he acknowledged, there weren't any leaks or residue inside generator. I ended up hiring someone else, which cost me funds I don't have, but I refuse to give them any more of my money. One final note, the customer service representatives are rude and could less about anything except the invoices due. By far, this is the worst experience I have encountered in my life. Complaint filed with Texas Better Business Bureau.

I sometimes see posts on Nextdoor and Facebook asking for recommendations for Generator installations. I also see some reviews here on Yelp, but I think this is the first review for them here.
This is my experience with GenTex Elite in Conroe.
We had our generator installed last year. We had a few quotes, and GenTex Elite was competitive.
They did a comprehensive load analysis, and they had the Generac available when others had long wait times. We signed the contract, and once the city and HOA had approvals, we were installed within a week.
We have had our Generac for about a year now, so it was time to have the annual service done.
Aaron came to our house to do the service today. I have heard that some companies just change the oil, and check that battery, and that's about it. GenTex Elite's service was very thorough. The oil was changed along with the filter, the battery was inspected, and all of the terminals were cleaned. Aaron also cleaned the interior of the unit, even though it really had very little dirt inside. He also checked the run time, cleaned out the transfer switch, and tested the transfer with a simulated power outage.
Aaron also took the time to review safe shutdown instructions. We have been fortunate not to have had any extended outages since our installation, but it's always a good idea to protect your investment with proper maintenance. I can gladly endorse this company for fast professional installation, as well as thorough service after the sale.
